What About Our Dark Side?

Rockets can carry men on space missions or nuclear warheads. Nowhere on Earth is safe!

Humans are being tortured all over the world.

This might be a more accurate image of humanity’s dark side!

Friends, humans are the most deceitful creatures on Earth. Other species are what they are. They are not devious in anyway. They do what they were programmed by nature to do: find food, kill enemies or drive them away, protect their young and teach them survival skills.

Humans find excuses to kill millions of their own kind using pretexts that are fanciful and full of lies. Wars are fought by nations that loudly proclaim that they care about human rights, about freedom, about democracy, about equality, while they trash all four!

Humans dress themselves in fancy clothes, fancy up their bathrooms to hide the ugly reality of their toiletry activities, strut about thinking that they are handsome or beautiful, strongly believe that, individually, they are the centre of the universe, create all manner of Gods and theological fantasies and then foolishly believe that, unlike other lifeforms, they will live forever.

The true reality of humans is well-hidden. We don’t get shown scenes of torture especially the hideous kinds of torture carried out on those who have been rendered to distant countries that condone torture. We don’t get shown images of people being blown up in war zones or dead children being burned by phosphorous munitions or having their limbs blown off by cluster bombs or land mines.

No, the MSM, in league with armament manufacturers and warmongering Governments, keeps us peasants permanently in the dark. And when someone like Julian Assange releases the truth about certain warmongering nations, he is hounded and pursued and treated by the authorities as a dangerous enemy.

And we don’t get shown footage of incest or priestly child molestation or the trafficking of women and girls for prostitution or the results when acid is thrown in the faces of Pakistani women accused of infidelity or standing up for their rights.

Friends, if we don’t face up to and accept the existence of our dark side, we will never be able to change it. Each human has a dark side. Whether it emerges depends on the circumstances we find ourselves in and the strength of what morals and values we have. Of course, remember the old saying that: Every man and women has their price!

We need to take the lid off our dark side. We need to expose the ugliness that resides within all of us. Perhaps exposing it to the light of truth might cause it to wither and die rather than fester deep within us.

Accept your demons then learn to control them. In that way, humans, eventually, may be able to find the way to universal peace and love.

If we can’t or won’t, then extinction awaits us!

  1. I just cannot be optimistic about humans changing their attitudes especially in regard to GREED.So many WARS! so many TORTURE PLACES!
So much HATRED and such a lack of COMPASSION!
So many people here on this earth that will treat their own dog or animals much
    better than their fellow men.
So many have given a positive example: like the Budha and Jesus of Nazareth and Saint Franciscus and many others.
We obviously do not bring up our children the right way, the human way.
Humans often treat their animals better than their children and neighbors.
The last world wars with the German Gestapo and concentration camps and the Japanese and their Kempei Tai and torture and prisons, have shown that the human race has no ability to improve and is able to love their neighbor as themselves. Maria

  2. Part of the reason may be government schools. Years ago people in small towns pooled their money to bring a teacher into town to teach their children. Over the years the government took over so now sadly schools are largely propaganda machines for the government. – The dumbing down of the people. They believe that we must fight the terrorists preferably ‘over there’.

  3. Maria, I know that you know all about war and the dark side of human beings. It is amazing that you manage to project such a positive image when you have seen such terrible things.

Claudia, education has largely become ‘dumbing down’. If people were truly taught to think and question, then we would have a very different society to that which now exists.

Dumb people can be easily manipulated and exploited and are!

  4. Claudia, I think it is not that simple. Parents are the real , first teachers of their children. However if you think how many influences come in from outside now: TV on the first place , newspapers etc. etc.
And in the past far more people belonged to a religion with firm rules of behavior and care for others. Families were important also. However one can easily get a job somewhere, sometimes far away from the family and one’s hometown.
It is much and much harder in our day and age to stick to family rules and behavior.
I have 2 children of which one became gay: well in my younger years that was something that existed but unknown to me.
I was brought up a Catholic and although I lived on a plantation and too far away from a church my mother installed religion as part of me .And I only went to church far away at Christmas time.
I must admit that the greatest impression I had of what faith was all about , when the sisters of saint Clare who had dedicated their lives
to God and prayer, were interned in a hideous concentration camp in which I also was interned. They tended for the sick and never complained although they were nightly raped by the drunken camp commander and cohorts.
My son and family now live in Indonesia, again far away from family.
So the influences on a family far away from family , are not related to family any more.Maria

  5. Stuxnet fits the Dark Side script well.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/16/world/middleeast/16stuxnet.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

That Stuxnet creators had disregard for future versions re-engineered to attack non Iranian reactors is staggering. Be no surprise then if the 400+ installations globally don’t start going off like firecrackers.

Cooling system failure is all it takes to make volatile any spent fuel pool, power or enrichment facility.

As mutation industries go, too easy.

  6. Thank you David for your kind words.Life is an adventure and one learns to accept it as it presents itself.I always loved history and I am a great admirer of Alexander the Great. However when one gathers knowledge from history, one finds out that much has never changed: that human mankind is only often far more ferocious than any wild animal. All the same one has to count the enormous changes that have happened: the “stepping” out of our earth’s atmosphere and into the universe.Being able to visit many places here on earth.
Receiving news from where ever on earth.. Being able to follow expeditions to wherever on earth by television.
Life is so interesting and at the same time so horrible for many people. SO SOMETIMES IT SEEMS THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR THE BETTER. Very triste!!!! maria

  7. we are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. intellectually, it is possibly to carry on this process for an indefinite time; the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield.
