Friends, three days ago a crazed American soldier got up in the middle of the night, went to a nearby village, and shot and killed 16 Afghans including women and children. The photo above shows some of the carnage which includes a dead child.
He, a Sargent, turned himself in after his killing spree and American leaders fell over themselves apologizing for this highly damaging incident (merely a one-off or so they say) which focuses on yet another incident which displays American brutality and love of killing.
Since this event, the U.S. has flown the deranged soldier out of Afghanistan to Kuwait. There was no way the Americans were going to keep the soldier on Afghan soil or allow him to be tried there because they have enough egg on their faces as it is.
Three days later the Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, flew into Afghanistan on a ‘pouring oil on troubled water’ mission. He was greeted on the tarmac by a run-away truck driven by an Afghani who jumped out of the crashed vehicle with his clothes alight.
Here is Leon, full of smiles and warm handshakes. The Afghan soldiers are stony-faced as you would expect given the number of Afghans civilians the American Army has killed since they saved Afghanistan from the Taliban.
Well, of course they haven’t saved Afghanistan from the Taliban at all. As a matter of fact they are in talks with the Taliban as to how they can leave Afghanistan with their tails between their legs but make it appear that they are victorious, well a little bit.
This is a nonsensical task. The Americans with all their huge army and spiffy technology have been beaten here just as they were in Iraq and they will leave both countries in chaos and with heavy destruction to their infrastructure.
Where will they go next, the Americans? They have a lot of choices. There is Iran. There is Syria. There is Yemen. There are various African nations on their radar. They might launch a surprise attack on Venezuela while Chavez is ill. Then they are mooting increasing their influence in South-east Asia.
The bottom line is that no one knows but you can be sure that men in American uniforms under the leadership of Leon are pouring over maps and moving tiny ships and planes around them and grunting at each other wisely as they contemplate another invasion, another attack.
Killing is what Americans do best. Killing peace that is!
