Friends, the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, came to power on the 20th June, 2010, in the most astounding of circumstances. She, with the help of some faceless men, somehow gained the numbers to roll Kevin Rudd and it was all supposed to have happened on one day, or so we were told at the time.
However, according to a new program on Four Corners produced by the ABC, a victory speech celebrating her ascension to the political throne, was started a fortnight before Kevin’s head hit the guillotine platform.
Now, on the actual program (which was shown last night), Julia was asked about the victory speech which was prepared by people working in her office. She denied having asked for it to be prepared and claims to not recall being told about it until shortly before she went to tell Kevin she had the numbers to roll him. She won a Caucus Vote for the leadership the following morning.
The more she tries to convince the public and journalists that this entirely implausible scenario is true, the more unconvincing she sounds. In fact, to me, it sounds like she protesteth too much!
This new revelation comes on top of the carbon tax which she said before the last election, “There will be no carbon tax under any Government I lead!” It comes into play from the 1st of July, this year. Also there have been a series of bungles and backflips and cost over-runs since she gained control of the Parliament by gaining the support of a couple of Independents which gave her a tenuous balance of power in a hung Parliament.
This latest fiasco confirms in my mind that Julia Gillard, whether a liar or whether she is losing her marbles, should no longer be the Prime Minister of this country. She, who swore loyalty to Kevin Rudd has blood on her hands. Lots of it!
She can no longer be trusted nor anything she says.
