This Reuter’s photograph was taken in Boston as police swooped on a tent city in the early hours of morning and got rid of those who were protesting about the way America is being run and the gross inequality that exists there.
The actions of the police in this instance were not as violent as they often are and the protesters apparently had agreed to go meekly knowing what was in store for them if they reacted physically. 47 of them were arrested!
This photograph from another protest shows the subtle ‘boot-on-the-head’ approach which leaves an indelible impression on the American citizen that protesting brings pain and hints that even worse pain awaits in the police cells where there are no witnesses or cameras.
