Is This Not An Obsenity?

This is how more than half of the world live!

This is how .01 percent of the world live!

Friends, there is a difference between these two photographs. Can you work out what it is?

When you work out what it is, do you think it is right and proper? Have you ever asked yourself why a few have so much and so many have so little? Have you ever thought about who is to blame?

Are you troubled by the inequality shown in these two images or do you think that the person who owns the mansion on Lake Geneva deserves it? Why do you think he or she deserves it?

The people in the top image in Bangalore struggle each day just to put a bit of food on the table. Some days they don’t succeed. Do you think this is no more than their just deserts?

Obviously life doesn’t give everyone equal opportunities! What should the world do to redress the gross imbalances between rich and poor? Should we take from the rich and give to the poor? Should we get rid of the poor? Should we give the rich more tax advantages?

One day, the poor will revolt and they will take from the rich who have exploited them so mercilessly. The OWS movement is the beginning. But, thus far, it is reasonably civilized.

When people start starving and become homeless, people will become violent. They will care nothing for laws, for societal values. They will become hunters, killers.

If we don’t create more equality, that world is coming. What’s happening in Europe will hasten it. The rich will become hunted. They will become despised. They will become outcasts. Lawyers and stockbrokers and ex-millionaires will fight to the death over food scraps.

The poor have suffered in silence for long enough. Their time is nigh!

Can you blame them?

  1. Here, the .01 govt. is trying to end “social security!” Those poor people in Bangladesh are so vulnerable to disease and all that hunger and exposure brings. They are an indictment of the gross inequities among our human species. There is no reasonable excuse for this! That is the truth. It is greed that only creates abundance for the few. Humans have known how to build cars that run on water and desalination and wind and solar power for a long time now. Jimmy Carter knows how to build houses for vulnerable people! He has been around and ready to work for a long time now.

  2. Grace and MiKi, that we humans should tolerate such inequality is appalling. But we have been indoctrinated to think that greed is good and showing everyone the results of your greed via a luxury car and a mansion is praiseworthy!

The rich make a mockery of the poor. They also screw them wherever they can even going to their impoverished countries to take advantage of paying low wages and giving no conditions. It is slavery pure and simple, slavery so that a few greedy people can have it all!

  3. Some one has to tend the machines and fight the wars. It would be nice if it were just a few greedy rich who ran the empire but the fact of the matter is that those few greedy rich are supported by 100′s of millions of commoners willing to do the dirty work for a cut of the the spoils. Taken together the world’s middle and upper middle classes are living high on the unfair trade practices of the empire they run for their masters.

  4. I don’t think that the commoners quite understand that they are being manipulated, Bob. After all, from birth, they are indoctrinated to doff their caps and speak when spoken to.

People like us are lucky. We escaped the system!

  5. Can’t argue with you except that we have not, unfortunately, escaped quite as much as we would like since there are still the the masters and their indoctrinated millions/billions driving us all over the cliff.

Since the era of cheap energy is ending the masses are, one way or another, going to wake up to their enslavement and it is important if we are to have any hope of our species surviving that they realize that their life ways are the problem rather than blaming their leaders/the rich. In many ways the leaders are merely echoing the desires of the people. Of course, when it comes to the leaders own interests as opposed to the interests of the whole the leaders are more than willing to toss the people under the bus, which is exactly what is going on now as the world runs out of cheap energy sources.

The only solution that I see is for the people to demand of themselves life ways that are sustainable and of the rich the capital to create sustainable infrastructure/energy sources as well as true democracy and inviolable human rights. It all starts with the awareness of the indoctrination and and a willingness to change ones own life without all the blame either of oneself or of others. The rich movers and shakers after all are the most enslaved folks on the planet.

  6. Yes, they are slaves to their obsession with money, Bob, but they enslave millions of others and exploit them. We have to replace Greed with Altruism. We have to show that Greed and Competition is destroying us and that Equality and Cooperation will save us.

If we can topple the rich and the MSM which support them, we can then try to undo the indoctrination which reduces us to the level of mindless pigs.

  7. There are many brainwashed people that will fight for the greedy rich but the others average and less than would destroy the rich it would be millions against around 6 billion.Remember there are good people that are not poor and don’t like the corruption that exists and will fight for the 99% thats 100%.
