Should The World Be Afraid Of America?

Is America a sheep in wolf’s clothing?

Friends, many nations in the world are afraid of the U.S. because of its huge military and its nuclear arsenal.

But is this fear based in reality? Is the U.S. as powerful as it might want the world to think. I think not and this is why:

1. America only has 300 million people which translates to around 6% of the world’s population. 6% cannot physically control the other 94%.

2. America is actually bankrupt and had to raise its debt ceiling just to allow it to make payments on its massive debts.

3. America has a dysfunctional democracy, one run by Parliamentarians who are beholden to Corporations and the Pentagon and Israel.

4. America has a dysfunctional economy because it has exported so many of its jobs overseas (to exploit other nations for cheap labor and materials), that millions of its own workers are unemployed or work in defense factories (which means it must always be at war).

5. America is incapable of electing a President of any stature. Most of them are gigolos, clowns, retards or con-men.

6. America when it invades and occupies other nations, kills their civilians by the millions, destroys most of their infrastructure, then leaves the land in political and economic turmoil with its puppets in charge.

The Presidential Circus Is Back In Town!

Friends, the Presidential race has already begun. Shown above are Republican candidates who want to be the Commander in Chief of the world’s most bankrupt nation! They had a debate in Iowa which featured a few heated exchanges and lots of methane gas!

Of course, they won’t be elected until November of next year but they have to endure (and we have to endure as well) the torturous, boring, massively expensive procedure to elect the next President who will doubtless be even more incompetent, more intellectually dull, more morally bankrupt, and as visionless as a succession of Presidents have been.

Think of  Nixon, Reagan, George W Bush, and, most recently Obama, the one who made a thousand promises and kept several of them. The list of downward-spiraling mediocrity seems endless.

On the other side of the fence, Obama sits uneasily on the throne and his ratings are low and falling, a bit like the Dow and America’s credit ratings. Of course, he will make lots of great speeches but surely no one believes him anymore (although the Yanks did elect George W Bush twice, didn’t they?).

My question is: why do the Yanks persist with this silly process which seems to guarantee that the next President will be worse than the last. But then, keep in mind that Einstein said that insanity is defined as doing something over and over and expecting a different outcome each time!

Let The Workers Pay For Our Sins!

Perhaps it will take this…

…and this before we achieve a world where equality and love prevail!

Friends, among my emails this morning was one from  the Washington Post and it went as follows:

“The financially troubled U.S. Postal Service is seeking to reduce its workforce by 20 percent, including through layoffs now prohibited by union contracts, and to withdraw its employees from existing health and retirement plans…”

Well, I never. Here the U.S. has spent gazillions of dollars since Vietnam on building the world’s biggest army and fighting scores of wars and now that it is bankrupt, the postal employees are going to have to pay part of the price, people like the man or woman who delivers your mail. To American politicians, a motley lot, that sounds quite reasonable.

Of course, the ultra-rich, who for years have been paying virtually no tax, don’t have to pay for America’s warmongering from which they’ve made a tidy profit. No way! The postal employees have to suffer and, if this trend goes on, all other workers will be drawn into the Government’s net called the ‘AUSTERITY’ net!

Of course, this trend of screwing the workers to try and keep capitalism alive has been going on all over the world. It is popular in Europe too, just ask workers in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Britain, etc.

Who’s The Naughty Boy?

I’ve sent myself to the naughty corner. Honest!

Friends, last weekend I had to make a sudden trip to the big smoke, family issues and all that stuff, and I have been delinquent regarding  our blog.

I just got back this afternoon so I thought I’d put up this quick post while I catch up on the  scores of comments.

I hope you’ll forgive me and I humbly beg your forgiveness!

P.S. I’ve read the comments and I’m proud of all of you. Sometimes I wonder what I’m doing here!

P.P.S. Certainly the last few days have been volatile. The Dow Jones has been like a mad monkey on a trampoline: up and down, down and up, every which way. It’s a wonder that the world hasn’t changed its orbit. It’s hard to know what to say. Perhaps America really has reached its use-by date!

Perhaps we in the West have reached our tipping point economically and the only way is down.

And perhaps Britain is leading the way for an accompanying social meltdown although what is causing the problems there seems to generate as many answers as there are rioters.

Perhaps the rebellion I’ve written about often has already started and I’ve missed it!

Story of my life really!

The Tipping Point May Be Upon Us!

Friends, the collapse of world markets suggests that bad times are upon us. In this crazy world, who would know? Those who have their hands on the levers of power don’t even know.

That the world is very unstable is inarguable. That we have no real leaders is inarguable too. But the most dangerous thing of all is that there is no movement in the world that is pushing for change: for the curbing of capitalism or imperialism or militarism, or the ending of the money-based caste system which is endemic in most Western countries.

All we have are nations and blocs of nations fighting and squabbling over resources and waging wars to achieve strategic military advantage. Each bloc has chest-beating, infinitely greedy leaders who should be in asylums or stockades instead of running countries.

What are we to do?

American’s! The Sky Is Not Falling!

Americans, don’t panic. The sky is not falling. All your problems can be fixed! Sure, it will take time but it can be done if the will is there.

I wrote a comment this morning on ‘The Brick Wall’ post which is reproduced below. I felt that it deserved a post of its own as I’m sure many folk in America are bewildered, confused, alarmed and highly stressed by what is happening and what is not happening in their country.

Now is a time for careful thinking, for wise evaluation, not panic. Then it is time for intelligent action.

It is time to accept that the past and current leadership hasn’t a clue and has been moving the country in the wrong direction for decades.

It is time to purge the country of those who are poisoning it for their own selfish, greedy reasons, the Warmongers, the Corporate Cowboys, the Political Prostitutes, the Militarists, the Nationalists, the Carpetbaggers, the Criminal Clerics, the Bankers and Financial Institutions, etc.

Some ideas of how to do this follow in my comment to Linda:

The U.S. Hits A Brick Wall!

Friends, the default debacle has highlighted the economic plight of America to the whole world in big, flashing letters.

America has been exposed as little better than the pretentious guy who lives in a million dollar mansion and drives a Ferrari and has a huge motor yacht and owns nothing because it’s all bought on credit!

And do you know what has put the seal on  the end of America’s grandstanding? No, it wasn’t the signing by Obama which brought it into law.

It was the dramatic drop in Wall Street of more than 2% (266 points).

Investors across the world know that America is in deep trouble and they voted with their feet. They know that the raising of the debt ceiling by 2 trillion and decreasing expenditure by 2 trillion was an exercise in futility.

They know that leaving tax rates on the ultra-rich unchanged might have pleased the Rethuglicans (and themselves) but it wouldn’t put money in the Government’s coffers. They know that other nations will be looking to move away from American dollars to other currencies as safe havens.

They know that Obama has been shown to be a lame duck President. And they know that the Government in America is dysfunctional, is nothing more than a rabble of politicians who put themselves and special interest groups above the needs of the country.

So what should America do?

Putin Describes America As A Parasite!

Friends, according to Reuters today, Putin has offered some very strong criticism of America.

“They are living beyond their means and shifting a part of the weight of their problems to the world economy,” Putin told the pro-Kremlin youth group Nashi.

“They are living like parasites off the global economy and their monopoly of the dollar,” Putin said at the open-air meeting with admiring young Russians in what looked like early campaigning before parliamentary and presidential polls.

Well, there you have it. Russia is speaking out and putting into words what many people in the world are thinking. The passing of the raising of the debt ceiling bill has changed nothing at all. America will, as Putin says, continue to live well beyond its means.

It will also continue with its insane imperialism and  its endless war doctrine, and it will screw its own citizens and the citizens of other nations to fund it. And it will continue to ensure that its rich get richer.

The question for the world is: what can be done to stop this insane nation killing, destroying, and sucking the lifeblood out of the rest of the world?

Will Americans Accept The Dodgy Deal?

This will be the new White House in the not too distant future!

Obama has announced that there is a deal although the details are sketchy. Obviously, it’s not a real deal but is something cobbled together by the President and the two warring parties who are all looking to protect their own skins at the next election.

What needed to be done was to admit that the spending binge that has brought the U.S. close to bankruptcy was over. The President and all the Politicians should have got down on bended knees and apologized to the American people for having brought their country to this appalling state.

Accepting this should have led to doing away with the tax lurks for the rich and the corporations immediately. This would have led to a flood of money, trillions of dollars, which could be used to pay some of the interest and capital on the loans.

The other thing was to cut defense spending by at least 50%, stop the wars immediately, and bring the troops home. This would have cut expenditure by trillions of dollars. The result of these two measures would have brought the U.S. back from the brink and set it on a sustainable path.
