Friends, is it just me or is there a sudden, decided decline in decency and values in the world?
After reading the articles on ICH this morning, I felt a sense of despondency, of alarm, even a touch of fear. In part it had to do with the actions of NATO, an organization which I once thought was run by nations who still had some decency and values. No longer!
There is talk now about military boots being placed on the ground in the Middle East. No, not U.S. military boots but NATO military boots! We are all used to American invasions and occupation every which place but NATO always seemed to have some respectability in spite of constant American pressure. No longer! NATO is into the war game big time!
What has caused the current problem is the breakout by Arab nations, their rebellion against their Western-supported dictators which left their oil at risk of being nationalized depending up who got into power. Rich nations need oil to drive their economies, their armies, their industries! That’s all that counts!
So suddenly, Britain and France flew into the Valley of Death and they have carried out more than 10,000 sorties against Libya. Why Libya you ask? Because Libya, under Gaddafi, was leading the charge by African countries to join together into a union which would’ve replaced the colonialist West! Shock! Horror!
Of course, in the background, America is still heavily involved especially when it comes to bribery, threats, and double-dealing. America didn’t set up its African Command because it loved the African nations and the African people! No, America loves wealth and power just like some of the NATO members! The difference is that America want total power and wealth!
Africom was set up to ensure that America had a say, had a presence, had a military base in Africa, one that could and would bully the emerging African nations and either relieve them of some of their resources or stop China and India from getting hold of them.
So, amidst the turmoil of violent Arab rebellion we have Europe and America dropping bombs and pulling strings and shining their military boots to make sure that whatever happens, their economic and financial interests are served and to hell with those trying to gain their freedom after decades of brutal oppression.
Imperialism, which we thought had been stopped when Hitler was toppled, is very much on the march. And imperialism can only lead to one outcome and that is a clash of civilizations (I use the word ‘civilization’ very loosely).
So in the world today we have rampant imperialism, global warming, over population, a global financial crisis, droughts and floods and extreme weather events, a diminution in food and clean water, nuclear weapons, terrorism (by nations and groups), a leaking nuclear plant, increasing attacks against the working classes and their wages, pensions and conditions, more and more wealth trickling upwards into the greedy hands of the wealthy, corruption in most governments, the treacherous influence of the Zionists and Corporations, a MSM which is severely compromised, six billion sheeple who wouldn’t know which day of the week it was, a ruling class of Plutocrats and billionaires, large groups of religious ratbags who want raptures and happily kill those of other faiths, Presidents who have assassination squads, rendition and torture…I could go on and on but I don’t want to depress you further.
Am I just deluded or is the world sliding deeper into chaos? Are things under control or out of control? Have we reached the end times? Are the circumstances such that we can no longer avoid the ultimate war, the one that will turn earth into a replica of the moon?
Sometimes I think that mass insanity is afflicting the human race. Sometimes I think it may be a result of the processed, chemical-laden food we eat. Perhaps the micro-wave ovens we use may be to blame or is it the medical drugs we are prescribed?
Whatever the reason, we humans are on the downhill path and it is getting steeper and more rough by the day.
Soon, very soon, we will reach the point of no return!
Perhaps we have already passed it.

After reading this article, Doomsday in 2012 looks a distinct prospect! How I wish there were still a communist Soviet Union as a balancing power. Had Capitalists (Capitalism did not win though) not won the cold war, the world would still be a different place. We perhaps would not see an increasingly capitalistic China falling in line with all that Western (USA & NATO) forces are imposing on the world just to dominate the economic scene. China and Russia must demonstrate a will to challenge West (USA & NATO countries) against their attacking and occupying sovereign countries.
But I believe countries have their own interests which are mostly not in line with the interests of their own people or humanity as a whole. The silver lining seems to be the Global community that we have become due to Internet and worldwide web and communities and tools like Facebook & Twitter. Let’s build that people to people network around the world around this cause ” No Neo-Imperialism”. Leadership for such a movement must come from the West itself. Perhaps David G. should launch this movement???

Abdul, I have tried on several occasions to launch a movement which would counter the twin, toxic thrusts of imperialism and capitalism with no real results. I agree that a coalition between China and Russia is important to counter the evil of the colonialists!
Thanks for dropping by.

Yes – I do – David
As known – back from 2oo3, -( the illegal occupation of Iraq – perpetrated by the “Coalition Of the Willing” This coalition consisted by among other, G.Bush, Tony Blair and Anders Fogh Rasmusssen, present NATO’s Secretary.General. – all WARCRIMINALS!!.
As such – there’s no real difference between America and Europe concerning illegal war-aggression.. as they (both) are ‘united’ against the common enemy “TERRORISM” – where the simple duty is to determine – who’s, and who’s NOT those – a (terrorist)?
Of course this airy ‘project’ involves a lot of DOBBELT-STANDARDS which in the end, (if and when those by US/NATO war-marchinery choosen targets aren’t able to show any real resistance (not able to ‘deliver’ big bombs in the homelands of America/Europe) – inevitably end up with that the WARCRININALS NATO/US can do what ever they choose to – WITHOUT consequecenses. – and indeed (God Help us all) they do it – FANME (Danish swearword) – in a increasingly degree.
That’s the sad situation of the world of today …

Yeah, John, the two ‘institutions’ that we thought would bring peace to the world (NATO and America) have become the promoters of endless war, blatant imperialism and insatiable greed.
China and Russia will not be pushed around by them so nuclear conflict is the only outcome.

Everything that’s wrong with the world today has it’s roots in Washington DC. The epicenter of evil, the gathering place of the criminally insane, the toilet bowl of democracy. Where the masters of death plan their attacks on humanity, woman and children. These animals are the haters of life and liberty, they fashion their courts so only they can win, everyone else is punished for the pettiest of indiscretion with excessive prison terms, torture, and the theft of their wealth by the buzzards of the revenue machine. The United States government is the most harmful deadly destructive manifestation of the devil in modern times. This evil will continue consuming the world’s people, resources, and decency until it’s stopped by an outside force. It’s lust for power will never end, even after all power is under it’s control, it will want control of all that’s left, natural law, the laws of physics, the law of the universe. This is what happens after centuries of inbreeding with evil relatives, the evil multiplies on a logarithmic scale, causing mutated DNA, and genetic malformations. The logic centers of the brain are destroyed, reasoning and cognitive thought are diminished, while aggressive, and destructive thought patterns play a more active roll in everyday decision making. Psychotic, and sociopathic behavior have become the norm in the political arena, and accepted by a wide sampling of the populace. The USA is representative of a cancerous tumor invading the soft tissue of a humble planet. This tumor is reaching a point of interoperability, metastasizing, growing, destroying the surrounding healthy tissue. Radiation therapy mat be the only hope.

“The United States government is the most harmful deadly destructive manifestation of the devil in modern times.” Amen to that, Joe.
I think there is merit in your thoughts about genetic malformations occurring because of inbreeding. How else to explain the insanity that is gripping our world!

NATO is no force for good. They were set up to threaten the USSR, which lost 20 million people in WW2, and was unsurprisingly worried about another imperialistic invasion. In the 90s, NATO went against the United Nations and attacked Yugoslavia along with the US.
The US invaded Iraq partly because Saddam Hussein threatened to sell oil in Euros, instead of dollars. France and Germany refused to participate.
What did Ghaddafi do? Threatened to sell oil in dinars! Helped Africans to save hundreds of millions of dollars a year by sending up an African satellite. Tried to set up an Arab/African alliance.
I’m guessing the one that put France on attack is the oil for dinars policy.
Remember that no African nation has allowed the US to headquarter Africom in their country. The US no doubt will use Libya as the headquarters, once Ghaddafi is murdered and the country bombed into submission.
Libyan oil is particularly good, and it goes to Europe.
Ghadaffi did have money in foreign banks, and the US has confiscated that which is in US banks. Ghaddafi also has tons of gold stored in Libya, and the US is said to have run out of the thousands of tons of gold it used to own.
The “rebels” have already set up a bank, aligned with European and US banks. Did any other group in the “Arab Spring” set up a bank?
The “rebels” are heavily armed by the US and NATO. The other Arabs are peaceful and unarmed.
This is naked aggression, murder and planned looting and pillaging.

Thanks for dropping by Wagelaborer and leaving such an informative comment. ‘Naked aggression, murder and planned looting and pillaging’ is now being carried out by nations who once stood for decency, morality and human rights (or at least they appeared to).
What has brought us to this lowlife level? Is it just a result of our continuing primitiveness and savagery or are there other dark forces at play?
Reply
No doubt our lowlife level is driven by the ‘insatiable’ greed of cunning few. I would anytime prefer Primitiveness over Modernism, Savagery over Civilization. Give me a world where there are no Airplanes, no Cars, no Roads and I would be happy not to travel and use the times saved instead in reading & reflecting.
Let me be savage and worry about survival in day to day life than to be civil and process and preserve food for profiteering and make most of the sea-life, animal-life and natural resources extinct to fuel and feed my greed NOW and let the posterity suffer.
Let me play flute in my free time to relax than to have I pod, I phone and I Pads etc. as they propel me to do more to grab extra bucks to buy these gadgets and feed further the greed of the Corporate thugs…

Abdul, your comment contains much wisdom. Playing the flute sounds ideal while throwing away Ipods, etc, is a good move. Becoming part of the natural world is the best of all!
P.S. I don’t have a Facebook page. Sorry!

I have pondered all of this for a couple of years now, and, yes, it all appears to be getting more so; or, are we Hearing About It, more than we did before, which makes it seem worse…..probably a combination of the above. Having said that, why don’t we just
slip into a meditative state, and spend the rest of our lives in a relaxed Buddha-like
calm, and let Them get on with it. I’ve been Protesting for 50 years now, writing letters,
waving placards, re-educating myself, voting differently, everything, short of carrying a weapon, and I am Tired! I’ve just passed the 3-score years and 10 mark, and I will not
spend my final years in a turmoil, trying to stop Them….My main aim now is to get all those over 60 to fill out an Advanced Care Health Directive, so that they won’t be incarcerated in an ICU (intensive care unit), or kept alive by Big Pharma. in a nursing home, not of their choosing. OFF TOPIC sorry. (Yes I’m a retired nurse)
I am thankful that my children have chosen not to breed. So let’s throw the Biggest Party
and then, settle back into meditative repose…….Peace

Trugannini, I understand your tiredness. I am similarly afflicted. Trying to change the world is an immense, all too often fruitless task.
Perhaps permanent meditation is the answer. But it is difficult to sustain!

Its not mass insanity, its mass apathy. More and more people simply don’t give a sh*t. Its the “I’m alright, so screw you” syndrome. Remember the mass protests, marches etc against the Vietnem ‘war’? Would that happen now? Is that happening now? No. Few people care if some people die in Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan or in any of the many beseiged countries of the world, even if the number is in the hundreds of thousands.
We moved to the country 30 years ago to become more self sufficient, get away from people, and enjoy the wildlife. Its had its “ups and down”, but has been a positive experience. Until the last few years. Our neighbours have become increasingly apathetic, careless. They let their dogs and cats run loose, slaughtering wildlife including rare and endangered species. Asking them to control their animals results in a tirade of abuse. Chickens roam the main road, despite the owners being warned by council officers several times to contain them. Others shoot or poison indiscriminantly; there will be 1080 baits laid next door to us next week, with government blessing. We can object but have no way to stop it. Throw into the mix almost universal selfish and dangerous driving behaviour, the roar of unregistered and invariably unmuffled off-road vehicles, and ,most importantly, a nearly complete collapse of any sense of community, and we’ve found ourselves yearning for life back in the suburbs. Except I know that would be a massive, disastrous mistake. So where next? A cave? The moon? Where in this world can peaceful people now lead a sane, peaceful life?

Steve, A, the question you have asked has been asked by many. The answer is that there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Life is what it is and it has always been the same with a few diversions here and there.
It think Omar Khayyam had the answer with the red wine! A few glasses of red wine and life doesn’t look quite as bad!
