An Emperor without clothes!
Friends, as you’d know there are massive problems in America.
There is a three-way tussle going on over raising the debt-ceiling between Obama, the President, and the morons who inhabit the Congress, namely the Demoncrats and and Rethuglicans. Currently, it’s a Mexican Standoff!
Obama wants to reduce spending and increase taxes on the rich, take away some of their massive taxbreaks. The Rethuglicans, true to their venal roots, want the burden of austerity measures to fall upon the poor and want spending on defense and aid to Israel to be maintained or increased.
Meanwhile, the Demoncrats run around in little circles frantically crying, “The Sky Is Falling! Our Leader is Falling! Who will Save Us?”
The irony of this farcical situation is that America is a nation that claims to be ‘exceptional’, that claims to be the ‘Greatest Nation in the History of the World’.
The truth is that it can’t even run its own country, can’t even balance its own budget, and has massive debt, trillions of dollars, which it now can’t repay.
As well, its political system is corrupt and doesn’t work and yet here it is waging wars all around the world and spending trillions it doesn’t have!
And yet the world fears what will happen if this bankrupt nation goes bankrupt. The American dollars is still the Reserve Currency of the world. Why is this so? Is there a conspiracy here, one run by the billionaires of the world? I suspect so!
Why doesn’t the rest of the world ditch the dollar which is devaluing by the minute? Why doesn’t the rest of the world ditch America and its Ponzi economy? Why doesn’t the world reject American imperialism and push it back to behind its own borders? Why doesn’t the rest of the world condemn America’s rendition and torture, its use of drones, its deceit and duplicity?
Why indeed?
The massive indoctrination that America has generated about its greatness and nobility is coming apart. More and more people see it for what it is: a greedy, arrogant nation that has over-sold itself, over-reached itself, and is in decline, rapid decline.
It is falling apart from within, as all Empires tend to do. Its clothes are falling off to reveal an ugliness not previously noticed: a bloated body, a venal visage, grasping hands with lots of blood on them, a cruel, brutal grimace…you get the picture I’m sure.
America, because of the Predators that run it, is now a force for evil, pure and simple. Its people are becoming aware of its flaws and hopefully will rebel soon (October 6th) and put a stiff broom through the corrupt political and economic system that is pulling America down.
We in Australia need to look elsewhere in the world to find a nation that has values and nobility that we can look up to and support.
Australia, if it didn’t have a gaggle of America-worshiping, capitalist-loving politicians, could even be a model.
Let’s face it, nearly any country would be better than what the U.S. has become!

Thanks for your vote of support, Merritt. I sense there is a shift happening within America. All may not be lost after all!

That shift you’re feeling is like going from 4th gear into overdrive …right over a cliff! America has reached a tipping point – more and more people are realizing that it’s probably too late to undo the damage. Many are in denial, plus a combination of too broke/rich/overworked/stressed/ sick/ depressed/ ill/young/ old/deluded to care. Examples abound of what happens to those who dare to resist (it’s terrifying to imagine oneself resisting the military industrial complex). People recognize the need for political/economic reform …but openly acknowledge that a true opposition leader would be assassinated! Regular people are armed to the teeth, waiting to defend stockpiles of canned food from the rioting hordes! I’m not kidding, these are my observations from my neighborhood on the shrinking island of middle class America.

Denise, I’m glad that I don’t live in America. Keep in mind that Australia has full employment and is looking for skilled workers.
We’d love to have sane Americans like you come on board. People like you might be able to convince our blind Government that America is not the Beacon on the Hill it claims to be.

There is no historical proof that other countries would be better. Seems to me that human nature is such that most every group and every large group/nation will seek self agrandizement over power sharing and generosity. The empires (Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, English French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Indian, Middle eastern, South american, African etc.) all did and do the rape pillage and burn thing. They allow the evil whore babylon/US to rule because they would do the same. None of the competing empires have the technological/resource base and loyal underclass that would allow them to mount and man/women such a huge and sophisticated military.
After all, the world/global economy is run under the protection of the US military. All the large/major national economies play along and are members of the WTO, IMF, World Bank, British Commonwealth, UN etc. because they are unable to sustain their wealthy classes without the weapons/security/sability that the US war machine provides.
Tribute is paid by allowing the dollar to be the reserve currency and buying treasuries so that the war machine is well oiled. The trouble that is brewing is due to the overreach/greed of the world’s oligarchs (including their many enablers in the middle classes). The insane need of the upper economic classes to have more and more and more increasingly impoverishes the rest of us despite the fantastic ability of industrial technology to create wealth.
I suspect that someone will arise in Europe to lead a new empire after the US suffers a nuclear false flag “terrorist” attack and becomes more manageable. Someone completely unprincipled but smart and charismatic like Tony Blair or Bill Clinton. Interesting times!

anotherbob, yours is a very inteligent post, you’ve hit the nail, I got to agree.
I wonder if you could go to http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse and tell me what you think.
Think about what he says about the creation of money, could you create it indefinately, forever. Should or must some of it be removed and how is it being done and or how should it be done.
I’m interested in your thoughts on this.

Jackel – I watched the 45 minute version of Crash Course but I’m not clear about the money issues. I have no gold or silver. Money economies are a form of barter without the necessity for trading goods directly, which leads to great savings in distribution of goods. In that money allows for undertakings that would be impossible for individuals or small groups to accomplish that too appears to be of benefit if the undertakings are of a sustainable nature.
Unfortunately due to the abundance of easily obtained energy our industrial undertakings have not been designed for energy efficency much less zero energy sustainablity. I wouldn’t blame the money system since human values determine what the excess energy from fossil fuels is being spent on.
If humans truly valued peace and security and freedom we could gain some time in avoiding a collapse if we were to convert the Euro/US Empire’s military industry to sustainable building, sustainable agriculture (ie new homesteading) and producing solar or other sustainable energy sources.
Likewise population growth could be contained/reversed? if we were to share the wealth and give people (esp. women) the freedom to control family size. And with need based lifestyles (as opposed to desire/consumption based lifestyles) we could reuse and recycle mineral resources far more effiecently, perhaps even sustainably.
One can do much of this on ones own but unless societal values change en masse the inevitable contraction/collapse and die off will occur as Martenson and many, many other futurists/prophets have been saying for thousands of years. The messages these prophets deliver of love: honesty, cooperativeness, sobriety, faithfulness, mercy, forgiveness, mindfulness etc. and the peace/stability/security these values bring have routinely been ignored and hence the civilizations/nations/empires they warned are now or soon to be dust.
My answer has been to homestead, live simply, keep local, build friendships around loves’ values, shared work, walks/recreation and education, while trying to encourage society at large to do likewise through writing and political activism. You can too!

Anotherbob, your comment, like the previous ones, contains interesting thoughts. You might like to think about my most recent post which may be a way out of the current mess we have created for ourselves!
We have to do something to get rid of the failed systems that cripple our world!

I agree and also hope that October 6 will become a turning point. The only problem with that is that mass demonstrations seldom effect real change. I don’t believe the anti war protests against the Vietnam war, in which I took part, really stopped that war. The war ended when America was defeated by the Vietnamese.
And so today it looks like the US is again close to defeat in all its insane wars across the planet. Coupling that with the demise of American capitalism and its unclothed emperor we can sit back and watch it implode. Certainly if Americans arouse from their slumber and let the world know that there are people here like the Greeks, Spanish, Italians that see the BS system for what it is, it would help things along.

The debt ceiling debacle is US political parties playing a dangerous game of ‘chicken’. Trouble is that none of them look like they’re going to be the first to swerve. If the crash happens (and it looks pretty likely) the rest of the world had better be ready to duck. There will be a lot of shrapnel.

David, make no mistake. Obama does not want tax cuts for the rich. That’s just the part he’s being paid to play. And with a seventeen percent approval rating, it’s in his best interest—simply for the sake of making his re-selection as Chief Public Relations man for the corporate/military machine an easier one—to pretend he’s fighting for the common rabble. In reality, this whole thing is theater, a charade. Much like our so-called “elections.” It makes it look to the sheeple like they still have a legitimate government. In the end, the rich will remain untouched and unpestered, as they always do, and the American wage-slaves will carry the load, just as THEY always do. I don’t even pay attention to this crap anymore. It’s all so much bullshit.
