NATO: Is It Just A Tool Of America?

NATO blowing up a Libyan tank!

Friends, as you would realize NATO is now running the show in Libya although the U.S. is still in the shadows there and its planes are doing what they do best: spreading death and destruction.

Perhaps you’ve forgotten who belongs to NATO so I include the following for your information:

The original twelve members of NATO in 1949 were the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

In 1952, Greece and Turkey joined. West Germany was admitted in 1955 and in 1982 Spain became the sixteenth member.

On March 12, 1999, three new countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland – brought the total number of NATO members to 19.

On April 2, 2004, seven new countries joined the alliance. These countries are Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

The two newest countries that joined as NATO members on April 1, 2009 are Albania and Croatia.

Russia remains a non-member of NATO.

In the military structure of NATO, a U.S. military officer is always commander-in-chief of NATO forces so that U.S. troops never come under control of a foreign power. So America can command the troops of 28 other nations but won’t allow them to have control of anything. Sounds reasonable, eh?

This probably explains in part why the U.S. is breaking both legs to get out of the current NATO Coalition of the Killing.

Another aspect is that the U.S. is trying to pretend to the world that it is not the pre-eminent warmonger now it has been clearly exposed as being top of the killing hierarchy.

Who knows what the U.S. is up to? Whatever it is up to, it will involve advancing America’s economic and military interests. But it seems that NATO is also part of its imperial game plan. Have you ever heard NATO criticize America? I haven’t. NATO’s 28 members all seem to toe the American line.

Perhaps they’ve been promised a cut of the action should the U.S. gain control of the world? Perhaps they want the capitalist system to prevail because they (the plutocrat leaders) don’t want to see their wealth decrease should equality for all people come about.

Friends, it seems that not only is the U.S. a threat to the world but NATO may also be a guilty party to say nothing of countries like Australia who support America no matter what it does.

The forces lined up against us seem so formidable, them and the greed factor which seems to drive the world.

What chance have we got to change the world and bring about peace when so many nations are warmongers or friends of warmongers and are also making armaments?

  1. NATO is American grovellers with different shoulder patches from different countries..
Canada can get to play fearless leader, wow!
NATO was formed to counter the Soviet block.
As the Eastern Soviet block dissolved with the collapse of the Berlin wall, NATO is a now counter foil to make the UN ambiguous, long past its expiry date.

Why the European members of NATO don’t tell the U.S. where to go is beyond me, Doug. The U.S. doesn’t really need them except when it’s looking to claim Allies to lessen the impact of its brutal imperialism.

  2. And what about the UN, It’s entirely useless except for American empirelist it might as well not exist. What a waste!!! The world is in peril. There is no justice. I fear for humanity.

The U.S. ensured that the U.N. was impotent, 76-water. It didn’t want any institution to get in its road.

That’s why it ignores the International Criminal Court. It would only recognize it if it could elect all the judges, much like it does in the Federal Court.

  3. It is all part of an “exclusive” club. NATO is an outfit that no longer has any need of being. This is why it has “branched out” from what it was set up to do. How do you defend against an outfit that no longer exists? Well, easy, you “create” a new enemy. Presto, change-O! See? That was so easy. Now NATO is a world-wide “anti-terrorsit” organization. See how simple that was?
Why do other countries stay in NATO? Well, as I said, it is an exclusive club. The political and military leaders of the NATO countries want to join. The new NATO members asked to join. Well, the “leaders” of those countries asked to join. Even more countries are on the waiting list to join, like Georgia for instance.
It is like school days all over. Somebody “powerful” invents a club, all the other kids want to join the “new, exclusive” club. There are supposed benefits also. Military aid being the biggie. NATO members get “neat” “fancy” new weapons and weapon systems. See children, nice new sparkly toys for you to play with. Yeah, that is basically how the SCAM works for the new members. The war mongers win and the common people get the “joy” of paying for it all, with their money and blood when the “rulers” say it is time for another damn war.
YES, I am being very cynical and sarcastic here. I have been in war, Vietnam 1970-71, war is the most pornographic thing we humans have ever devised. I despise wars. Smedley Butler was right. There are only 2 reasons for war. 1) to defend OUR homes. 2) to defend the Bill of Rights. ALL other reasons(excuses) for war are a racket.
Sorry to rant on, but damn, war is vile, nasty, brutish, and not needed.

  4. More and more people all over the world continue to face worsening conditions in almost every situation and all the leaders do is start more wars and make everything worse.

It seems like they are all insane!

It is all the ordinary people who, to some degree or other, pay with their quality of life or even with their life.

Who died and made US in charge? Why do ‘they’ all agree to this arrangement?

Clearly, ‘NATO is in charge’ translates to: US is in charge, but doesn’t want to be seen as the one doing it.

David, I was going to make you an honorary American when in your other post you had to shut off the teevee a few moments into Obombus speech. That is so how it is. :(

  6. This must be some kind of a joke being played on us. I knew Obomber was just another warlord before the presidential election from what he said. Then to top it off he’s awarded the Nobel Peace Prize just a few weeks into his presidency. He didn’t look all that happy about it, by the way, lol. We’re supposed to respect these sociopathic leaders?!?

  7. Humanity is a failed genetic experiment. It’s a parasite on the Earth. If 10 people went to heaven, it would be corrupt in ten days. Here a little story: God came down on Earth 2000 years ago, was prosecuted for free speech, crucified and returned to heaven vouching never to return to these crazy creatures on Earth.

  8. “The forces lined up against us seem so formidable, them and the greed factor which seems to drive the world.” – how true.
    A thought:
Since the power of the worldly troublemakers stems from their control of money, sounds like an effective resistance against the greater powers would include the undermining the money enabling them; i.e. quench the thirst for it. That should be only so hard, for in this economic climate average Americans are quickly loosing what little money they have anyway. Possibly then may they opt for some exercise in virtue. Just think, if all stopped smoking the tobacco industry would collapse. If all started living efficiently by respecting the environment, the energy industry would collapse. If all saved rather than borrowed themselves into dept, the finance industry would collapse, and if all stopped gambling in the stock market the securities industry would collapse. Yes, much of the U.S. economy is built on vice. Why should any good person bother resurrecting it? There is an art to knowing how to fend without a store and to buy without making a debt. I think we all better start learning. It will only be a short matter of time before the U.S. economy takes another sorrowful turn. If for nothing else at least we as individuals should do our best to avoid going down with it.

Robert, thanks for dropping by. We certainly could bring down the capitalist system but to do this we need a major shift in the thinking (or is is non-thinking?) of the man in the street whose indoctrination seems to be bullet-proof.
