Friends, this is just a quick post, one that addresses the points raised in a few comments about the name of the Movement (thanks go to Merritt, nowayout, Grace, etc).
At this early stage of the Movement, the name is not written in stone. It can be whatever we want it to be. However it must agree with the thrust of the Charter which seem to have general approval. It must also be catchy if possible, even clever and controversial.
What we are trying to do is to build a world Movement that opposes the rampant imperialism of the U.S. and its attempt to gain control of the world using military force so as to further advantage its capitalist system and to gain total military and economic power over all other nations.
The title Anti-American Empire Movement does spell out some of these things but not all of them while the letters AAEM don’t by themselves have much punch.
What we want a title that upsets the average American, that challenges their indoctrination, perhaps even causes them to think about the many shortcomings of their warmongering country. We want a title that, in a few short, sharp words, shows Americans and the rest of the world’s people what we are about.
So, that said, I’ll throw the post open to everyone to contribute some titles. Put your thinking caps on!
P.S. Couple of ideas:
Anti-American Imperialism Movement. (AAIM)
Prevent Empire America Controlling Earth. (PEACE)
World Against American Hegemony. (WAAH)
Sending America Back Home. (SABH)
Preventing American Control Of Our World. (PACOOW)
Save Our World From American Domination. (SOWFAD)
Taking Back Our World From America. (TBOWFA)

I believe the first on your list, Anti-American Imperialist Movement, appears to imply that it is an imperialist movement that is Anti-American. I think the intent is to save our country, not defeat it. I’m not sure I’ve articulated my thoughts here very well. I feel it sounds the opposite of what we wish.
I very much like the second one, Preventing Empire America Controlling Earth, because controlling the Earth appears to be what the ruling forces of greed are up to. And that the letters spell the word “PEACE” demonstrates the movement is the antithesis of a government that, under the control of plutocrats, would wage wars to control the world’s resources. Peace also very stronly implies it will be a non-violent movement.

David,
Your willingness to discuss this has earned you a brownie point
As much as I hate the manipulative, and deceitful nature of marketing it’s power cannot be denied. A title I’ve been pondering addresses what I think needs to be the first step in getting the word out, or getting people educated on the subject.
“American Empire Awareness Movement”.
Is there any reason why the name couldn’t be changed at various times to reflect the movements current state?

“American Empire Awareness Movement”.
I like it. Before that, of the choices above, I was partial to P.E.A.C.E.
Thanks David, when I was in the cult (dictatorship) we didn’t have choices.

I think the idea you and your commenters have is an admirable one but the name ‘Anti-American Empire Movement’ didn’t sit right with me. The Anti-American part just comes off as making it sound, well, Anti-all things American rather than anti-the american governments foreign policy. Hard to argue about what successive American Governments have done but the current name is wide open to misinterpretation and if you have to explain what you stand for before making your argument then that is a lot of wasted energy. Anyone arguing against you with half an ounce of sense would be muddying the waters long before you get the message out. Just an opinion.

just a thought…any movement that seeks to promote peace prob doesn’t need to preach to the choir about the montrousness of American Hegemony . We should think of a name that is not oppositional…to wage a war against an invisible enemy is bound to suffer defeat …when I stand on the corner with Women in Black we stand for peace and not against war….I see that we gain more attention when we address peace thru economics…the practicality of economic structures built on industries that promote equality and give a better financial return than the effects of Predatory Capitalism…The Hidden Reality of Practical Economics….pretty dry sounding but I am sure there is a better name logo etc…Kate

Something strong and positive would be good. Anti-American sounds too much like it is against not only the government, but also against the american people many of whom are good and would support the changes you propose.
We badly need strong voices opposed to our government that are not rightwing/facist.
People are starting to stand up and oppose what the far rightwing actions being taken by state government here in Wisconsin and in other states, many of them red states.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. From the points made so far the PEACE title sounds like it has a few supporters. What I’ll do is to put it up for a few days, see how people feel about it.
I’m sure most people will support a PEACE movement (not those in the Arms Industry or the Pentagon of course).

I’m borrowing this from Jefferson Starship, but I think it fits: “Blows against the Empire” was the name of one of their albums.
This is my own thought: Redeem USA Now(Run). Also Delegitamize U.S. Today(Dust) or the simple yet elegant ‘Freedom for One World”.
One World-One People
Please Help America to Stop Exploitation (phase)
David, I think it is important to take anti-America out of name, you want the name to be positive to gather positive good will from every corner of the planet.

“Freedom for One World”, I like that one.
It made me think of this one. “Freedom from the US Empire” FUSE
I was also thinking it may be important to be more specific with the name. America is a name that includes many nations that are not the target of the movement. The distinction between N. America and S. America is important to a lot of people. Then again, when someone mentions America it is usually assumed they are referring to the United States.

Let’s not beat the name thing into the ground. It smacks of pretension and reminds me of a group of kids deciding what to name their clubhouse. Personally, I think “The Movement” is the most powerful. If you know what it is, it tells the story. Its powerful and unpretensious in its simplicity. Creating an initialized name only gives this all-too-important thing the ring of yet another pointless global agency. That’s not what we need. We need the Movement. And I, for one, will do all I can to see it succeed. Because being reduced to a life of literal slavery is something none of us deserve.

We are letting the PEACE acronym sit for a few weeks, Late Revolution, to see if it gains some traction. I, like you, don’t want to get hung up on a title but using the word ‘peace’ to oppose the U.S. seems to have some value!

True. The word “freedom” keeps leaping to mind as well.

Come on people. Just admit it. You are infatuated with FUSE. It’s edgy, it’s explosive. What more could you possibly want?
