The IDF again proves to be fallible!

Friends, Al Jazeera today reports that four members of an unknown number of the IDF have been wounded in a firefight with two members of the resistance forces of Gaza.

Yes, men like those shown in the photograph, armed with the latest American weaponry and supported by the latest in warplanes and tanks have actually been shot.

Usually we read about Palestinians being killed usually by missiles. With missiles, you don’t stand much of a chance. It comes out of the sky at amazing speed and BOOOOOOMMMM! Minced meat.

It seems the  two Palestinian heroes crossed into the highly guarded 300 metre buffer zone and engaged the IDF who were in well fortified positions. The firefight lasted twenty minutes.

Israel, unsurprisingly, has issued no information about the injuries sustained by the IDF but, given past history, the IDF will probably extract a heavy price for this victory for the Palestinian resistance, a price that could include women and children.

A Chaplain giving marines or pilots a pep talk about God is Love

The irony is breathtaking!

Why aren’t Chaplains the world over telling the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces to lay down their weapons and go home? Why are they there at all, in the Killing Fields, standing next to a cross?

Why aren’t they strongly condemning war and calling those who create it and make money from it evil?

How do we, the citizens of the world, stop the

-  Boycott all American companies or American-owned companies,

- Get rid of any American shares you may have or credit cards (divestment),

- Organize anti-American protests in your community,

- Put pressure on your politicians and Governments to close American military bases,

- Spread the word as in calling  talk-back programs, writing letters to the Editor in newspapers,

Friends, down through the ages humans have depicted the God of War in various ways, some of them quite imaginative and hideous.

Ironically, though humans have been warring for thousands of years, they never like to attribute the orgy of senseless brutality that war is to themselves. No, the God of War was said to be angry. He (generally a male of course) had to be appeased and only an ocean of blood would do.

So the Generals came out and the swords came out (and later the guns) and stabbing, thrusting, and hacking took place until only the victors were left standing.

And if the Generals or Admirals were triumphant they were praised and statues were raised. Winner were grinners while the dead said nothing. Then offerings were made to the God of War and prayers were made by the common people in the hope that the most recent war would be the war to end all wars. Faint hope!

And so it was in WW1, then WW2 which exhausted the world or what was left of it. People talked about peace but not the U.S.! After Russia dropped out of the arms race, the Americans decided to strike while the iron was hot. They started to amass a huge Army. They even spent money they didn’t have to ensure military supremacy. And why? What do you think?

Since then it’s all been downhill. Most Americans worship their Gods of War, gods like the man shown in the bottom photograph. He is General Petraeus and currently he runs the imperial slaughter in Afghanistan. He looks harmless enough, doesn’t he? But his hands are covered in blood, dark blood from the heart!

What a cheek! He’s having his cake and eating  it too!

Most humans play the game. They adhere to the rules they were taught. They think that honesty and integrity are important. Inevitably, they spend their life struggling.

The people who run the world, the ultra-rich, don’t play the game. They make their own rules. They think that concepts like honesty and integrity show a lack of intelligence bordering on retardation. They manipulate the masses accordingly.

Do you really think that multi-millionaires paid all the tax they should have? Do you think that they paid top dollar for businesses they were acquiring? Do you think they paid their workers what they were worth? Do you really think that they never broke the law, never paid bribes, never told lies?

Do you think that politicians think that honesty and integrity are important? O.K., so you are smart enough to know that politicians are self-seekers, that they are dishonest, that they have their price which, for some, is very cheap. But you still vote for them at election time, don’t you, because voting is part of the game we are all supposed to play.

This is how the beginning of nuclear war might look!

Friends, America claims it is an exceptional nation. Speaking for myself, I struggle to work out why it thinks it’s exceptional especially given its appalling behaviour since the end of WW2.

To help make my case I submit the following brief excerpt written by William Blum (an American who wrote Killing Hope and Rogue State) in an article entitled “In Struggle With The American Mind.” It deserves to be read carefully especially by Americans:

“The secret to understanding US foreign policy is that there is no secret. Principally, one must come to the realization that the United States strives to dominate the world. Once one understands that, much of the apparent confusion, contradiction, and ambiguity surrounding Washington’s policies fades away. To express this striving for dominance numerically, one can consider that since the end of World War Two the United States has:

• Endeavored to overthrow more than 50 foreign governments, most of which were democratically-elected.
• Grossly interfered in democratic elections in at least 30 countries.
• Waged war/military action, either directly or in conjunction with a proxy army, in some 30 countries.
• Attempted to assassinate more than 50 foreign leaders.
• Dropped bombs on the people of some 30 countries.
• Suppressed dozens of populist/nationalist movements in every corner of the world. ^“

Now, read in combination with the collage of photographs which show the American War Machine almost from its inception, it paints a rather frightening picture for the rest of the world.
