Attention, Attention! The Baroness Speaks.

Friends, I’d like you to meet Baroness Eliza Manningham-Buller.

Who is she, you ask? You may be surprised to know that she was the head of MI5 in the U.K. from 2002 to 2007. Obviously she is a bright lady who knows lots of things.

Why do I think a post about her is important? Well, she is currently involved in a U.K.  inquiry into the Iraq War which the U.S., the U.K. and Australia were involved in. According to Al Jazeera, during the course of the inquiry, she said:

“There was a lack of evidence linking Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi leader, to the September 11 attacks in the US.”

“Arguably we gave Osama bin Laden his Iraqi jihad, so that he was able to move into Iraq in a way that he was not before.”

“Undoubtedly the war increased the threat [of domestic attacks in the U.K.], and by 2004 we were pretty well swamped”.

“The war had radicalised a whole generation of young people and that some British Muslims perceived the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan to be an attack on Islam.”

“Between 2001 and 2008, Britain investigated about 16 “substantial” domestic plots, of which about 12 were stopped,” she told the hearing. Of course, you will remember that, in July 2005, four suicide bombers detonated bombs on London’s transport network, killing 52 commuters and injuring hundreds more.

Friends, the gist of her evidence is that Saddam did not cause 9/11, Iraq did not have Weapons of Mass Destruction, Iraq posed no threat to the U.K. or Australia or America, and the invasion of Iraq has led to an increase in terrorism and the growth of Al Queda not a decrease.

So much for the duplicitous Western propaganda which we are drowning in. All this talk about “We have to fight ‘terrists over there’ before they engulf us is pure crap.

The world is being sucked into endless war by a nation that is more interested in controlling the world and its resources rather than bringing enlightenment or democracy to the world. Iraq today is in complete turmoil with daily suicide bombings killing scores of Iraqi citizens. Afghanistan isn’t much  better. And the U.S., nearly bankrupt, is now trying to get the nuking of Iran up and running.

The Americans, aided by the U.K. and even Australia (to a small extent), is destroying nation after nation for no credible reason and the Baroness has exposed their lies.

She is a brave woman, an honest woman. We should admire her.

Well, I admire her honesty and respect that she has come forward with this evidence. After 9-11 inside 24 hours of the attack I doubted the government line and story. The kicker for me was that the secret service did not secure the president until after the fact. At the time I wondered what was up with that. No, I had no idea it was an inside job until much later but none the less I doubted their story pretty much from the beginning. I’m sure many of you had your doubts also. Now without getting into it, however it was carried out it was a big fubar. What ever the (plan), the lives and money spent for pipeline routes and securing the drug trade in Afganistan has obviously been more than what was percieved, not to mention the innocent lives of the Afgani people. And Iraq, well there was too much oil to leave in the hands of those who would not bow to corporate American interests. Yes folks we’ve been lied to every step of the way. This ficticous war on (TERROR) has stolen everything precious to American ideals. Our rights were ripped away by Patriot Acts 1 and 2 under the false pretence that we needed security that could only be achieved by relinquishing them. Iraq is not better off. Their lives have been destroyed, and for what? Both Iraq and Afganistan are major Failures. No one to date has a definition of what winning in Afganistan is. We have allowed our own country to be destroyed for corporate profit, or might I say the belief in corporate profit. C’mon folks what have we got to look forward to. After 9 years our sons and daughters are dieing on foriegn soil. Unemployment the government is too afraid to be honest about. A freakin dollar that can’t hardly keep it’s head above water, and then what? You tell me. What ever honor America had it lost on the gambling table of corporate profits. The MSM lies to us daily hopefully to keep the facade going long enough that some CEO somewhere might make another buck before the bottem falls out, cause ladies and gentlemen thats next. Can anybody fix this?

76-water, coming from an American, this is a powerful comment, a sad comment. But it also suggests there is hope because you see what has happened, you are aware of the reality and you don’t like it one bit.

People who see and are aware and who feel anger will inevitably move to the next step and that is to find others of like-mind then, together, they will push towards change. It won’t happen overnight but it’s getting started that is the most important thing.

Draw strength from this blog and go forth and save your country!

I was identifying with whar Buller said from 2004 when she was in MI5. Regarding “All this talk about “We have to fight ‘terrists over there’ before they engulf us is pure crap.”

Of the Bali bombers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bali_bombers who killed 88 of our fellow Australians:

- Amrozi Nurhasyim “was allegedly motivated by his view of American foreign policy, which he deemed to have an imperialist agenda toward the Islamic world.”

- Muklas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huda_bin_Abdul_Haq
“After the eventual defeat of the Soviet Union and installation of the Taliban as Afghanistan’s rulers, Muklas returned to South East Asia to conduct operations for Jemaah Islamiah. He was named head of JI’s “Mantiqi One”, a regional network covering Sumatra, Singapore, Malaysia and southern Thailand. Muklas then co-founded an Islamic school in Malaysia that was to be used as a local training ground for JI operatives.

Muklas stuffed up the bombs he built in Bali. The slow uneven burn of his bombs burnt some Aussie girls I know slowly to death.

One can dissociate and intellectualise about the nasties that kill your sisters quite easily.

It is indeed the whole sweep of anti-American history but they are our Australian sisters and they screamed. Noting that the bastards who built the bombs usually killed and raped their own “honour killings” when away from “righteous” anti-American operations.

Regards

Pete

I guess there are people screaming right across the world, Pete. Some of them are innocent Muslims, people at weddings, innocent bystanders. They die or lose limbs when American missiles are flying. They get cancer from depleted uranium used by the Allies and die terrible deaths. They burn from phosphorous bombs.

If war and violence were rejected then no one would need to scream, would they?

Cheers.

Oh my, is’nt the whole world a mess. Those with dignity, integrity, and honest values need not apply. The ruthless seem to have it pretty well rapped up. I feel fortunate here to be able to communicate with rational human be-ings. Now that I am not as young as yesterday, I wonder what was the value of being taught right from wrong, honest as the best policy ect. When the world we live in is run b y those who don’t practice such beliefs. Often because of my personal values others found it easy to take advantage of me. It seems to me that a lot of people got ahead in life at the demise of others. One thing though, I still have my self respect, can’t put a price on it really. Good times to all.

76-water, I was taught the same values. I still believe in them and try to embrace them. I agree with your point about being taken advantage of but at least I can look in the mirror without grimacing!

If everyone respected themselves and others, the world would be a better place.

LT, apparently she did advise against invading Iraq but the British politicians, well, you how how the British love a good scrap (as long as they can send other peoples’ kids to be killed)!

She is only speaking now, years after the event and millions of deaths and lives ruined and still ongoing. And she asked for a budget increase (for her silence?). I can’t admire her. She could have spoken at the time. Not just to Bliar but publicly and persistently and put the lie on the bs statements from number 10 and their enablers. She’s as bad as all the others. The lesser of 2 evils is still evil. She is part of the problem. Instead of making sure the truth was heard and making sure she was in front of the cameras she held Tony’s hand bag for him while he fronted the media all those years keeping their little secret secret.

That is fair comment, Magda. I guess to be a whistle-blower requires a lot of courage especially in an Intelligence organization where everyone is sworn to secrecy and the punishment for breaking that rule is many years in prison.

That she has revealed some of the lies now is better late than never.

“…punishment for breaking that rule is many years in prison”
Me thinks not… penalties such as the one you mention is only reserved for commoners. Different rules apply to a Baroness just like they do to the Blairs, the Bushes and Cheney of the world.

You are probably right, LT. One rule for the rich and/or titled and another for the peasants.
