A Truly Innocent Victim!

This bird can no longer fly or fish.

Friends, the Jews love to paint themselves as innocent victims even when they clearly aren’t, even when they are clearly brutal aggressors and occupiers.

The image above, by contrast, shows a real victim. This bird has been caught in the Gulf oil spill and is coated in toxic oil. If it is not cleaned properly it will die. Then many creatures will die because of this leakage along with the livelihood of many people who rely on the sea.

This oil spill shows yet again the deleterious effect that man has on the environment. In a world that is supposed to be stopping the use of oil because of global warming, the hunt for it goes on and on as does the extraction.

Obama is hopping mad but, regardless, the oil just keeps spreading while, under the ocean, huge plumes of it are moving with the currents ready to pollute other areas.

While this is happening, the Bhopal catastrophe that, many years ago, killed over 20,000 Indians is being revisited in the Courts and sentences are being handed out to those responsible.

I guess if we look at the damage done to our planet by avaricious corporations since WW2, it is huge. The air, the soil, the water, even the atmosphere, nothing has escaped man’s polluting ways. Profit takes precedence over pollution every time.

Birds, like the poor creature above, don’t foul their nests or the world.

Humans do! Regularly.

  1. Oh, Dear God, DG, what you have said is too true and it takes a brave heart to face the painful truth, to witness the suffering and persist for Justice. America of the past would have rallied all of our resources and rushed in to do everything it could. BP keeps everyone out and that is that. The suffering is so bad that BP is suggesting, “putting animals out of their misery!!!” Rather than the effort of clean-up. These must be the most vile words uttered!

  2. It is done. I have called and written President Obama to insist on clean-up of all the animals. It is merciful! Also, In my letter and call, I also told the President not to fight Israel’s war in Iran. Do not nuke Iran.

I recommend that everyone get vocal to the degree that you can. I have to hope that the message does get through. Hope.

  3. Grace, you are an inspiration! Prior to the Iraq invasion I sent countless emails to Powell urging that America rethink its plan. Not one answer did I get. I’m sure they all ended up in the trash can. Hopefully your messages will get a better fate!

David, you honor me! You and the helicopters that hovered overhead for several minutes, just minutes after writing to Obama telling him not to fight Israel’s fight in Iran. The helicopter creeped me out. You made me happy. I also felt like the volunteer at the White House and I had a certain American citizen solidarity. This country rocks. The people who love this land understand. That includes you.

    Peace, D.,

  4. Part of the tragedy of what is happening in the gulf is the part most everyone plays in it by our own use of oil. There is very little that a person can do in today’s world that does not require the use of oil. We did not ask for this dependency; it was forced on use by the same corporations that are making huge profits while destroying our enviroment.

It was sad to hear shrimpers whose entire way of life is being destroyed by BP calling for more oil drilling in the gulf to off set the lose of jobs from the oil “spill”.

No one in MSM or anyone I talk to seem to understand that the lifestyle we are living is killing us and our only planet and that we must change our way of living and doing business and do it now!

Most everyone is waiting for the recession to be over and the oil to get cleaned up and life to get back to what it was before. That that will never happen and we are in a entirely new place does not seem to enter their minds. Nor does their unwillingness to embrace necessary changes make those changes any easier when they do come.

I am very afraid of the future! I have a new granddaughter only 2 weeks old, she is so little and helpless and her future so uncertian in our messed up world.

  5. Bring our National Guardsmen and soldiers home to help in the protection of the critters. It will be the most wonderful service they could do and heal many wounds to be back home and cleaning. Of course I am speaking of the non psycho killers who use their military service and mercenary seervice as a cover for their inhumane natures and unchecked noncompunction to kill. Statistically those types are a minority in society and military service, too. As many who join up, do for poverty related financial reasons. As well as the promises of education and promotion and status. Most soldiers would rather come home and build alternatives to gas use right here on American soil as well as lending critical hours of service to the animals and ecosystem of life in the Gulf Waters.

  6. Grace, you deserve to be honored! If more Americans loved their land and saw its importance, then it would be a different country. Bringing the troops home is a good idea. They’ve caused enough damage already.

Jeannie, America’s demand for cheap petroleum and gas underlies this catastrophic spill. Drill for it in your backyard or invade other countries that have it, both evidence the mindlessness of the people and the corporations that put profit before all else.

The capitalist system is destroying our world and reducing humans to the level of gorging pigs.

  7. David, I consider the era of my childhood to be a sort of “Utopian Blip,” I call it.

I was witness to the collective that cared about each other and wanted to build wheelchair ramps – so that everybody could participate! Holding hands across the land. Look to your neighbor and make peace..that sort of thing.. It has ruined me forever!

I say the above because there used to be an American song called, “This Land Is Your Land, This Land Is My Land.” The song is about the incredible, beautiful majesty of America, but also the Spirit of America. It’s about the people who love this land. It was once sung as our National Anthem. The only patriotic song usually heard now, is the one called, “God Bless America” It is about a battle that took place in the middle of the night against the British. Our Red Rockets did glare and in the morning it was our flag that was flying.

This Country’s founders warned against trying to conquer other lands for Empire building. They were not innocent. They knew what goes on in the world. They had just come from Europe.

Now our Country , the land itself has been betrayed. British owned, BP is allowed to pollute something that belonged to you and me and the people are kept out and not allowed to help!

The point I wanted to make is that this Planet belongs to you and me. We are all held prisoner. The Holy Land is supposed to be for all people, yet it is Jewish only, now. The beauty of the Gulf Waters was a Planetary Jewel. It belonged to the whole world. The whole world will suffer. The m/billions of gallons of oil will make themselves around the world in the Gulf Stream.

One last thought. Birds and other sea creatures are as ancient as this planet. They may not speak English, but they speak a no less complex language.

We are sea creatures too, you know. The moon affects us the way it does the tides.

I remember thinking last year during the Siege of Gaza that Israel was commiting suicide. This mega pollution in the Gulf, and how people are kept away from helping, is also a form of suicide.

Thank you, David. There is always so much more to say. Peace.

My childhood was similar to yours, Grace. I thought the world was far more good than evil, that loyalty from family and friends was a given, that countries always acted nobly, that leaders were pillars of honesty, etc. One by one, these childish beliefs have gone.

The reality of the world, especially the human dimension of it, is extremely disappointing and seems to be getting worse. I guess all we can do is to get on with our lives and do our bit to help when we can.

  8. Just when you thought this corporate planet we live on couldn’t get any better. One sad thing to think about: If BP and the American and British media thought they could get away with covering this up and telling us that this is the rare ‘black-winged’ pelican, they’d do just that.
At this point—or really, when this crisis first began—British Petroleum should be simply shut down as a company and an existing entity and the capable governments of the world should be taking over. How can we allow the corporate monster which caused this horrific catastrophe to successfully contain it, knowing their foremost interest is the survival of their own profits rather than putting a halt to any more damage. Where is the Army? Where is the UN? Why are governments not throwing every ship, man, woman, and technology into stopping that flow of oil?
If anyone needs further convincing that the corporations truly rule this world now, look no further than the Gulf oil crisis.

  9. One more grim thought. Although the entire world is effected by this, as an American I truly have to weep for Louisiana and the Gulf Coast states. After suffering the devastating effects of Katrina, this is the last thing these people needed. Louisiana had their economy virtually destroyed by the hurricane (and being subsequently ignored by the American government afterward) , and now their biggest industry—seafood—is essentially gone. The Associated Press reports that even fresh water seafood from Louisiana that doesn’t come from anywhere near the ocean is unsellable in many markets, thanks to ignorance and paranoia. If I were a religious man, I would say God has spent the last five years taking a shit on these people.

I see it more as; people stirred up shite they ought not have, and now.. The fan is blowing and the shit hits it and it is spread to every direction. A hurricane hits bigs glob of oil and,…et voila~ black goop across the lower southern shore to northerly, westerly and easterly directions,.
it will be oily and goopy on land as well as sea. We haven’t even barely begun to see the actual full effect of the (delicate sounding) spill. Jus’ a ‘lil ‘ol spill, maynerd.

What do you call a gazillion gallons gushing, as we speak and until Christmas, no less. They are warning us now, lest the children be disappointed when Santa doesn’t make the oil go away!

  10. Late Revolution, the Government was slow to act but I guess this is, as far as we know, a one-off situation. It could of course happen again and strong measures must be put in place to deal with it!

Grace, I wonder what damage the dispersants are doing. It might be worse than the oil!
