“Run for cover. The Yanks are in town!”
Friends, news has reached me that, surprise, surprise, Afghanistan has more than three trillion dollars worth of mineral wealth.
Now who could be interested in that, I wonder? Apparently China, Russia and India are. And which country would like to stop this trio from getting their hands on the minerals? You guessed it: America.
Now I know we all thought that America was militarily involved in Afghanistan because it has a great, undying love for the Afghanis and, as well, it wants to bestow on them the benefits of Coca Colo and MacDonalds.
Some even said America wanted to control Afghanistan so it could get access to oil and gas from nations to the north of Afghanistan. But this announcement from the White House puts another dimension on the front burner.
As I have mentioned before, there is a great unstated war going on between major world powers and those who have ambitions to become a major world powers.
The battle over scarce resources is on for young and old and has been for quite some time. America already has its claws into Iraq because of oil and it is likely to follow that up by turning oil-rich Iran into a parking lot (Gates has claimed today that Iraq will eventually be able to hit Europe with ‘hundreds of missiles’. The war drums beat ever more loudly).
And now it appears that Afghanistan, a country we only thought was rich in heroin, is rich in minerals like gold, copper, iron ore and precious commodities such as lithium and rare earth minerals. What better way to control them than to occupy the country, build oodles of military bases there, appoint a pro-America puppet government as in Iraq, and never leave as they’ve done in Germans and Japan.
According to Reuters, “It’s time for the president to state unequivocally that we will stay in Afghanistan until we succeed,” said McCain, who said all the key trends were moving in the wrong direction. The Republicans smell more money and power, I just know it!
What does succeed mean? Permanently stopping Russia, China and India from getting hold of scarce resources?
Beware of Americans bearing guns!

How Is It We Are Here?
The recent discovery of ONE TRILLION DOLLARS worth of rare minerals in Afghanistan has been tripled to THREE TRILLION!
Why do humans think that everything in the world has no utility or even beauty until WE mess with it? Why disturb these minerals? Do we need to keep making trash, weapons, dubious techno-toys, etc. with these rare resources? What becomes of them once we’ve used them up? How many BILLIONS of plastic bottles—made from OIL—sit in dumps after being containers of mere water? Can’t we ALL have water purifiers at home and bottle these same plastic bottles over and over again? Do we need to have MORE devastating oil spills because we THINK we need more plastic?
My all-time favorite band—the Moody Blues—asked similar questions over 3 decades ago and their insights are as valid and refreshing today as then.
“Men’s mighty mine machines digging in the ground,
stealing rare minerals where they can be found,
concrete caves with iron doors bury it again (Fort Knox?)
while a starving frightened world fills the sea with grain.”
From “How Is It We Are Here?”
Yes, GRAIN was dumped in the ocean back then because of some crazy agricultural practice. Can you believe???

How Is It We Are Here?
Moody Blues
How is it we are here, on this path we walk,
In this world of pointless fear, filled with empty talk,
Descending from the apes as scientist-priests all think,
Will they save us in the end, we’re trembling on the brink.
Men’s mighty mine-machines digging in the ground,
Stealing rare minerals where they can be found.
Concrete caves with iron doors, bury it again,
While a starving frightened world fills the sea with grain.
Her love is like a fire burning inside,
Her love is so much higher it can’t be denied,
She sends us her glory, it’s always been there,
Her love’s all around us, it’s there for you and me to share.
Men’s mighty mine-machines digging in the ground,
Stealing rare minerals where they can be found.
Concrete caves with iron doors, bury it again,
While a starving frightened world fills the sea with grain.
How is it we are here
How is it we are here
How is it we are here

I wonder how the Americans are going to tell the world that after publicly proclaiming they are exiting Afghanistan, next year, they are bringing in all the equipment needed to mine whatever is in the ground, for as long as it takes after finding out there is over a trillion dollars of goodies waiting for them ? America seems to have forgotten the Chinese are there before them and Afghanis seem to like the Chinese a lot

Personally, I like ANYONE except people who drop bombs on wedding parties, funeral processions, etc. and are COWARDLY enough to do a lot more of that from some chair in Colorado with unmanned drones. Sound like a shoot ‘em up computer game?
Hey, Jehovans! (Christians/the West and Israel), GET A CLUE! Warmongers NOT welcomed to the 21st century!
Check the book, “Jehovah Unmasked.” The Hebrews were originally a polytheistic people–there are TWO Genesis narratives, one suggesting ONE creator and one suggesting a GROUP of CO-CREATORS. They even had a goddess–Lilith. She was dumped with the rest when the Bronze Age WAR GOD Jehovah climbed to the top of the heap and started barking out commands to kill the “enemy’s” men, women, children, babies in utero, cattle, crops, etc.
Isn’t Patriarchy under a Mad Deity fun?!

Apparently, they’ve known for years that that the minerals are there. But the pipeline is also a reason why they are there. The military bases go along the proposed pipeline.
Most of these countries seem to prefer the Chinese because the Chinese offer to pay for their minerals, instead of invading and stealing them.
This makes Americans extremely indignant! Those sneaky Chinese! Why would undeveloped countries fall for their tricks?
The saber rattling in this country against the Chinese is pretty intense.

Wagelaborer,
Agree! Kind of like those “sneaky Japanese” that bombed Pearl Harbor. Well, golly gee, did we give the TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS a “wake up call” before we nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki? To paraphrase the movie character, Forrest Gump, “Sneaky is as sneaky does.”
Maybe this will go down as a kind of “Chinese Pearl Harbor!”

Wagelaborer, thanks for the biggest giggle so far today!
Am appreciating all the witty banter, and insights.
Thanks, community of rebel thinkers.

This has got me to wondering about all the private government contractors working in Afganistan. You don’t suppose they are already plundering away at the riches. The ones that belong to the people of Afganistan.

Mnmhnm. In recent times I have come to wonder at timing of events, anoouncements. Especially one so rich as this. Did they just find out.. and excitedly release the information – like most dupes would do? Or do they hold their cards like a good poker player and wait for the right moment to expose a hand?
Start a pre-emptive war and in the dust and the shock and the awe.., loot – all of the rarest most valuable antiquities (out of a dusty old museum that no Americans will miss.) DOn’t send any security to guard these valuables, but send all the guards to the Oil Miinistry building instead, a place where nothing was disturbed. Plead innocent of all charges. Blame bad apples!!

Hahahaha! Do you mean a fool is STILL born every day, OR a fool is STILLBORN every day? I think we had a few of the latter as presidents–they were animated in the backroom at Disney, like the Stepford Wives!

Ted, there is no edit feature here. Once I hit send, the damage is done. I saw the same thing that you saw! After a minute of research, I found: the famous quote is, “‘There’s a sucker born every minute.” by a peer of P.T. Barnum. In reference to getting money out of people by way of entertaining them. Strippers and politicians overwhelmingly share that philosphy.
In the words of Jim Nabors as Gomer Pyle, “Suprise, suprise, suprise!” Because… There’s gold in them thar Afghani hills! They got sticky poppies, shiny gold, all those other metals and even lithium for the crazy people and the laptops!
In California we called it the Gold Rush. Rich Land Barons and Toxic waste is the lasting legacy.
A moment of silence for Afghanistan.
“We” do it to our own land too. From the redwood forests to the Gulf stream waters.
Help!

Some great comments here from perceptive people. Why there aren’t more of us, I don’t know. There’s enough bad stuff going on in the world now to awaken people everywhere. If we can see it, why can’t the rest?
The control of the media by capitalists and Jews has a lot to do with it, that plus the success of the advertising industry in making greed into a virtue.
Peace and cheers to all!

Dave, There are plenty of us, but we seem to be pigeon-holed: Everyone for their own issue. This site is Palestinian/ middle east specific. Many folks are US-centric. I don’t know how to broaden the horizons for those only upset at the US politicians. I try. Passing on the links to this sites threads helps. Keep up the good work Dave. The world needs more like you.

David, I try not to worry. Hmmm, Afredd E, Neumann was famous for saying, “What me worry?” For many years, I always pulled the fool card in tarot. The fool takes leaps of faith that others would call foolish. The fool knows that not only is it not foolish , but he laughs as others grasp at illusions. Somehow, the fool is comfortable with the innate emptiness of the meaning of existence. For it is pure; existence, consciousness, bliss. It’s ok.
There is only moving forward. There is no going back. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transformed. This world will work with us or it will work against us. We have no say at this point, only blind faith in a basic goodness that does exist, as surely as evil does. Which flower will blossom? The one we water and give the light of day that it needs. Peace, Grace
Now I understand this is old news used as current propaganda to stimulate the masses. LOL! And now we have contradicting reports of the (PAIN ray) being deployed in Afganistan. I know, I know it’s to win the hearts and minds of the civilians, again LOL. American and Israeli war ships in the Red sea along with nuclear subs. War drums anyone?

America is in seventh heaven. Another war is looming. It lives for war and killing. It is a sick nation.

long ago jacob brownoski in the accent of man described war is nothing more then a form of theft going back to agriculture settlers being robbed by nomads. Usually this represents everything going on now. considering humans are greedy by nature, over populating, natural behavior to provide a better life, security, etc…
But why do we expect any different 12,000 years later, the human brain is complex with different levels of intelligence, education, experience, and environment. To be able to mold that complexity x 7 billion and come out with a right path is next to impossible. the world is just to complex. We fail as underdeveloped humans in a transitional period of understanding and solving problems. Yet as we populate the problems are increasingly over our capacity to solve them. the ingenuity gap explains this nicely. Not to mention our animals instincts overwhelm our capacity to reason and usually lead our decisions.
so here we are, the result of our nature. would it be any better if russia, india, or china acquired these resources. why blame America in its short history, atrocities have been committed by all peoples all over the globe before we were even aware they are wrong.
humans have to understand their nature and given time change may begin.
just thinking… hey davig great to hear the results on your test. feels good, all the best

CD, you say, ‘humans have to understand their nature and given time change may begin.’
Problem is that we’ll probably destroy our earth and ourselves before the change can begin.
Cheers.
