It looks pretty and peaceful from a distance, doesn’t it?
Friends, the thought struck me this morning as I perused the world headlines that, if there are other beings in the universe, what would they think if they looked down on planet earth with a strong telescope?
Of course, we on earth judge everything by our own low standards but others with different values might not be so forgiving or blind. For example, what would they make of the wars in poor countries like Iraq and Afghanistan where people with nothing are being killed by the hundreds of thousands by soldiers from wealthy countries?
Would they be amused by drones buzzing around firing missiles at all and sundry? What would they make of the luxury that a handful of humans enjoy while billions starve? What would they make of the screams coming from places where torture is carried out or the sight of militias hacking off limbs?
What would they make of families where incest occurs and fathers have children to their daughters? What would they make of two men or two women indulging in weird sexual antics and then being allowed to bring up children? What would they think about thousands of nukes that are poised in deep shafts, ready to launch? What would they think about young men raping old ladies or young girls or routinely murdering other males.
What would they think about the environmental destruction caused by multi-national corporations or the pollution in cities and in the oceans? What would they think about the depletion of fish stocks caused by over-fishing and greed? What would they think of global warming and the melting of the icecaps and glaciers and the fact that there has been little or no change in the use of fossil fuels? What would they think about polluting cars which supposedly are a means to get from point A to point B but have been made into an elitist yet deadly status symbol?
What would they think about the problem in Palestine where a whole people have been brutally occupied and oppressed for sixty years while the world has done nothing? What would they make of the capitalist system with its emphasis on greed and vicious, take-no-prisoners competition? What would they make of Hollywood with its penchant for showing violence and depravity to say nothing of the porn industry? What would they make of democracy with its ‘buy-a-politician’ ethos to say nothing about vote-rigging and other electoral fraud?
What sense would they make of the drug cartels in Mexico that threaten the government or the fact that the arms used by the cartels come from America which is one of the world’s biggest drug markets? What would they think about countries whose manufacturing is largely concentrated on making weapons of war? What would they make of people who develop fiendish chemical and biological weapons? And what would they make of child-trafficking and the lies told by the MSM or the use of child soldiers?
And what would they make of religion with its ridiculous, unsubstantiated theology and its clergy that live in luxury and molest children? How would they react to the total absence of peace on planet earth, the domination of every species by humans, the lying and corruption at every level of human society?
Friends, I don’t want to list anymore questions that another form of life might ask should they look down upon our world. I’m too ashamed.
Please, whoever you are, come soon and save us from ourselves!

do you want the truth, or a polite answer?……………..

I love your sense of humor, Coco! It is a candle in the darkness.
When you put together a list of some of the world’s ills, it suddenly hits you just how bad our world really is. We really are a dangerous creation!

I still can’t comprehend, the people who spew religion, kill the most,
and do the least for others.
Amazingly sad ; (

Oh, when you put it that way.. it is a shocking and depraved picture. Not to mention 500 mountaintops that have been “removed” to the scourge of the Earth and people.
On a practical level, the one that gets me is the one where we are allowed, we are given full freedom to purchase a polluting vehicle and drive -usually solo – any distance, at any skill.
” What would they think about polluting cars which supposedly are a means to get from point A to point B but have been made into an elitist yet deadly status symbol?”
I should sell my 20 year old car. Take on a debt that I can’t afford – so that I can drive a new car and get all the social warm fuzzies – while not doing a darned thing to stop this Titanic from going down. We are a country of out of control Toyotas!

Hey sister Grace….I bought my 2003 toyota camry in 2003 with the expectation that these cars last for years and years. (I hate car payments) my 7 year old toyota.. No brakes problems, no surging problems.
I read an article the other day that said now that GM vehicles stands for ‘Government motors’ instead of the old ‘General motors’…expect that after they are finished with toyota, they will go after honda products. And then there will be Nissan and Mazda I guess. (Government motors will have to kill the competition.) I don’t know if that’s the truth or not but it seams probable with our out of control government!!
If your 20 year old car is running…..let her run sister!! I will keep my toyota until duct tape and caulk doesn’t even work anymore! lol …I’m not there yet but that’s how far I will go…

Phew, after that I’m off to SU to revive, David.
I still think the Toyota business is political, maybe something to do with military bases and the like.

And plus, military operations in both Mexico and the USA reportedly are involved in illegal drug operations, even on the top of them.

Therese, what is all this recent Mexican news on infowars? This past week has been full of it! Even news of Mexican helicopters flying over border towns in Texas.
Paul Craig Roberts quits trying to warn people with his truth??? In my gut I have been churning all week!!
Today,,,,, militia in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and even some reports coming in from California,,,,, FBI, department of homeland security, anti- terrorist department all coordinating with local law enforcement officials to arrest some militia members for supposedly constructing and selling pipe bombs? What is the truth any more? ARGH!!!

I argh with kathy, plus, knowing what I know, am concerned with the assertion by the major spokesperson for the Republican National Committe, that the repulsive vicious billionaire financier and medical provider bully, George Soros owns the Democratic Party, and that he who pays the piper picks the tune.

The most interesting article I read this week was the one about Hillary’s connection to Mexican drug cartels.

Plus the trafficking in humans, children, women, and worker-slaves, operated by the global mafia and governments.

to add to the long list ..
What would they think about the thousand upon thousands of tons we (the western world) throw away, out into containers / trash / garbage / waste disposal sites where the ‘developed world’ throws out , often well functioning refrigerators, washing machines, computers, bicycles, furniture, often made of tree/wood sorts of highest qualities (bereaved from mother earth) etc. – and many, if not all, of those things don’t even look like it ever has been used/employed – at all.
……………………………….
Thanks God
I feel fortunate it’s not me who are given this opportunity to ‘see’ (from above) or I’m afraid I would cause (be despair) myself eternal concussion/braindamage. Either by headshaking or hammering my head into the wall .

Grace, you do not need to by a new, expensive car (to be more fuel efficient).
I can ardently recommned to you to buy /have, a good old (1997) Daewoo Nexia 1.6 (made in Korea), if you are able to find such a thing. Made of same the (spare) parts, motor etc. as Opel/Chevolet.(super quality).
It goes/runs ( if not driving crazy) 16 km liter (x 3.8) = app. 60 a gallon. and addition have a heater system you don’t believe it.
I bought it, two years ago to (approximately). $3000.00. (not super well-kept, though what concerns appearance )
Good luck

John, thank you for that recommendation of something like your Daewoo Nexia 1.6. I keep holding on, thinking that a new kind of car will be invented. One that does not pollute. and does not rely on dinosaur fuels. I will b here waiting.

Friends, the ugliness in our human world is overwhelming. The worst thing is that little is changing for the better. We put a bandaid here and a bandaid there but the main problems remain.
Humans are the problem!
Reply
David, I agree with the bandaid example that you gave. We keep trying to treat a symptom without ever getting to a root cause. If I was an alien looking down on us,,I would wonder why, why, why???
Reply
Kathy, it’s not until you put all the problems together that you realize just how pathetic our world really is.
As to the ‘why’, I think it’s partly because humans, in the main, just can’t help themselves because of genetic factors and partly because most humans can’t think outside the narrow box that is their skull.
Robbo, sometimes I have to go to Seeking Utopia for a breather myself!

Maybe the aliens are waiting for humans to destroy themselves. They have looked at all your questions….added the answers together and came up with the equation of….humans are doomed and are just to damn stupid to do anything about it……collectively. Who’s to say they haven’t been here before, numerous times over millions of years doing a progress report on how far away we are from destroying ourselves, so they can move in and strip our planet of resources.
Reply
They’d better make their move fairly quickly, Kemosobi, while there are still some resources left and before the air, the water and the soil is completely polluted!

Speaking of what will the Aliens think?

I didn’t mean to offend. I read the article and concluded the Bavarians have some issues with funny town names that somone will exploit for a dollar or Euro as the case might be.
I have also lived with alcoholism and the humor didn’t escape me. Again, I am not usually comfortable offending anyone.

Oh no you didn’t offend me. But it did make me wonder what that town in Austria uses as an expletive instead of the “F” word….
It was a shocking article!
Grace, they could put some child porn pictures on the beer bottle too, flesh the whole tawdry thing out!
How low can we go? Answer: We ain’t seen the bottom yet.

I watched an interview on line the other day. (Project Camelot interviews whistle blower types.)
This guy was saying there is a star gate in the Gulf of Aden just outside Yemen. He said this is the reason that the war on terror has made it’s way to Yemen. He claimed that many countries have war ships out in the gulf now circling and waiting because the star gate opened in January of this year and the countries of the world have sent their war ships trying to prepare for what may come through that star gate. So David, the aliens might make a showing just any old day now!!

What the..star gate?? We will offer the aliens a beer. Or not.
It ain’t over till the fat lady sings and she died last November. She did sing.
Party in the Gulf of Aden.
Why is everbody so uptight? Can’t we all just get along?
Let me guess, it is up to the US and Israel to save the WHole WOrld

If it’s up to the U.S. and Israel to save the whole world then we are all doomed, Grace.
Couldn’t both of them just immigrate to another solar system and just leave us peaceful peasants alone?
Reply
I have wondered something similar. Like, all the fearful warmongers can go to their mall societies on Mars and leave us peaceful peasants alone (I like that.)
Reply
Yes, let’s send the governments and their evil cronies to Mars. But the rest of us peaceful people, let’s go to the Gulf of Aden and party. Bring a candle or a little bic lighter and we can sing that John Lennon song “All we are saaaaaaying…..is give peace a chance…
