NATO Assault on Marjah?
“Kill, kill, kill!”
Friends, today the Reuter’s headline read: NATO launches major assault on Marjah yet the photographs provided showed only British troops.
The article claimed the advance of 15,000 soldiers supported by air power was being led by American Marines. So just who is the major participant in this new, major assault against the Taliban? The relative numbers of troops from each country were not disclosed which I found rather mysterious.
I guess the 30, 000 troop surge in Afghanistan engineered by Obomber probably tells the true story. But why make out that NATO was initiating this attack if Americans made up the majority of the troops and did most of the planning?
Perhaps it’s an attempt by America to deflect the focus away from its incessant warmongering and killing? If it claims that NATO is carrying out the assault, when and if the civilian casualties are announced, NATO will get the blame and, given that NATO is an amalgam of countries including America, then any opprobrium will be dissipated, spread around.
This attack is similar to that carried out by the IDF on Gaza. Like Hamas, the Taliban have no regular army, air force or navy. In the main they only have light arms and they hide in mud brick homes.
The members of the U.S.-NATO forces by contrast have every military device known to mankind: attack helicopters, fighter jets, bombers, tanks, artillery, laser-guided missiles, night goggles, spy satellites, drones, etc. If a pocket of resistance springs up, they simply blow it off the face of the earth regardless of who is inside.
The outcome, as it was in Gaza, will be a slaughter.
There have been many similar slaughters over many decades beginning perhaps with America’s involvement in Vietnam and Cambodia. Perhaps it was then that America decided to take over the world? Or was it when Russia ended the Cold War?
No matter! America is a nation which loves killing and it loves power. There is no other conclusion that one can draw. Its economy is geared up for war and it’s no accident that it has the world’s biggest army by far. When it sent thousands of troops into Haiti on the pretext of helping the earthquake victims it again showed its true colours. What were armed troops going to do: shoot the buildings that had collapsed? It’s more likely a military base will soon be built there!
And it’s no secret that America has servile allies that love war too! Britain is one of those allies. Australia tends to go along as well (but more out of fear that one of its neighbours will invade it one day).
Anyway, the machinations of America go on as does its killing. It continues its invasions and occupations and it continues to spread its tentacles all over the world. Expect to see that ‘NATO’ does a lot more attacking. Perhaps the U.N. will soon do a lot more attacking too given that it is often manipulated by America.
NATO means America! So does U.N. much of the time!
P.S. Of course who knows how often the U.S. uses non-uniformed contractors to do its killing? And what about the CIA and the FBI special units?
UPDATE. 14/2/2010
Friends, this morning, Reuters added a few more misleading pictures from Marjah. The caption on this (staged?) photograph said that it showed American Marines protecting a Afghan father and child in Marjah. Doesn’t that tug at your heart strings, bring a tear to your eye?
Of course, astute people will ask themselves: who are they protecting the father and child from?
Answer: NATO soldiers and American Marines who, thousands of miles from their home countries, are carrying out a major assault on the Afghan town and killing lots of civilians like the ones shown above.

This launch has nothing to do with ‘war’ but has everything to do with an outright assault and killingspree by the world biggest KILLER-MACHINE , comparable to the Iraqi 2004, ["led by American Marines"] by the US/UK troops, complete destruction of Fallujah, Iraq read more on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_Fallujah, – now on another recalcitrant people who just don’t like being ruled by neither Russia or any other, ‘superior’ conceited people.
No diffence if it’s Nato, UK, US and all of it’s stooges, it’s the same family of war-criminals just shifting the blame between each other.
Please notice that, unlike the Srebrenica , by NATO puffed up numbers of casualties (from appr. 2000 to 8000) mentioned in ‘the MSM news’ twelwe times, a day or more to assure that the message seeped in. There has’nt been mentioned ANY number of casuallies from Fallujah.- and probably neither will be (if in the thousands) from Afghanistan.

There seems to be no end to the killing the US will engage in. Of course, that will create more “terrorists” so we will need more money for weapons of war and sorry, but no money left for health care or schools or anything that might make life a little easier for any of the little people. If they are young they can join the army to fight and die, other than that they serve no purpose. Thay don’t even make good wage slaves anymore since desperate people in third world countries work for much less.
What a wonderful world we are living in.

I agree with Jeannie. It’s too bad the US can’t be more like that other country, the one that is never under threat of attack from outside its borders but that is completely capable of defending itself on its own if it was attacked, that has an economy so flexible that it need not care about the ups and downs of the rest of the world, because it can adapt to any change and keep its people fully employed regardless, that has a citizenry that does not want its government to engage in any foreign aid or trade, thus avoiding all internal debate about what is “good” and what is “bad” foreign engagement, and that has a standard of living the envy of the rest of the world, so it has a steady stream of eager young workers competing to live there to keep the economy strong and growing. I will keep reminding my fellow Americans that we should strive to be more like that other country, if only I could recall its name.

How convenient that America’s stance towards the UN was hostile for many years. There was a big movement to close down the UN. during Raygun’s (of Space Shield fame) years. So, it would -not be the first thought on anyone’s mind..that the UN is working for US..!
How quickly the massacres of The Forgotten War 1949-1953 become forgotten history. Visited by a grim reaper in big time denial ..America slayed locals in Korea. Pits full of men, women and children that our boys shot and killed; all unarmed civilians. It was mass amnesia until a bit of group therapy in the late 1990′s. When the ‘boys’ got old enough to suddenly remember how horrible it really was.

John, I like your sentence: “No difference if it’s Nato, UK, US and all of it’s stooges, it’s the same family of war-criminals just shifting the blame between each other.’ Sad but true!
Jeannie, there is no end because, to America, killing is a way of life, a raison de etre!
Fred, I’m sorry that you have alzheimer’s disease and are suffering from memory loss. Are you the ‘Blind Freddie’ that the world talks about? Having two afflictions can’t be easy!
Grace, I guess that after Iraq and Afghanistan is over, there will eventually be those who remember the horror that America brought to the Middle East, one that competes with the one brought by the Israelis to Palestine!

David, I think Fred was being sarcastic. We English speakers from different parts of the planet sometimes have difficulties recognizing each others’ satire.
I’ve been wondering where amerika is getting all these “warriors” are they mostly mercenaries or are they folks who risk their lives for citizenship or are these people who have to choose between jail or military service?
Congress is so desperate they’re considering changing the “don’t ask – don’t tell” rule.

Kate, I suspect that our ‘Fred’ is a member of a trio of mindless deniers who have spoiled what was once a very good British blog, one that I used to contribute to.
He is an American apologist who can’t get his mind around the fact that his country is not the ‘Beacon on the Hill’ but one of the most dangerous, violent, greedy nations on the planet.
You spotted him immediately. He is so obvious it’s pathetic!

MARJAH – NATO rockets killed 12 Afghan civilians on Sunday, missing Taliban militants..
This morning’s top Headline.
Morning after..hangover, walk of shame- or – does this only embrazen Obomba and his purse-string-pullers? Shameful and despicably brazen is what it appears.

Grace, war is a dirty business. People get killed, innocent people.
When a nation announces that it won’t count civilian casualties, you know that many civilians will be killed. When a nation announces their troops can’t be sued, you know that brutality is on its mind. When a nation embraces torture, you know it is immoral. When a nation refuses to accept the juridiction of the World Court you know it will continue to carry out atrocities like the ones in Vietnam and Cambodia.
America is such a nation. It relishes killing and has no conscience about it. None! To America, it’s a business, a lucrative one, an imperial one.

David, it is hard to explain – Why – it is soo hard to fully accept this, Murder in the name of Good, America. As if it has ever been different? This land was founded on murder. It is just so different than the country I grew up in. I never really bought into the whole Beacon on the hill, but it sounded good.
MIC is so darned clever. I read that article more and it goes like this: Nato did the killing, but America did all the talking. America ONLY has good intentions (and anyone who doubts this is the enemy.)
Even, Pat Tillman, killed by friendly fire.
What you said, exposes the creature for what it is,..
“When a nation announces that it won’t count civilian casualties,

On that note, I want you to know that I tried posting comments about Israel at two different sites and they did not get printed. Hence, the additional value of DC.
Israel is vicious. They are the backbone of the style of militarism these days. Because they have so many years of mercilessly murdering and in every possible way, oppressing an entire poplulation of sovereign Palestinian people. I hope there is some critical mass of awareness about this horror that is Israel. Soon. Before they keep killing and killling. And the Pope keeps saying NOTHING.

Grace, what I’ve said cuts across decades of indoctrination. Of course it’s hard to accept. And 300 million other Americans are also struggling with this contradiction. Well, a few.
Americans are no longer the ‘good guys’, assuming they ever were!

yes I want to remember how you put that about when a nation announces it won’t count civilian deaths, etc.
I think the Twin Towers demolition opened quite a lot of USAn’s eyes. The abandonment of New Orleans was so shocking that many more people woke to reality. The illegal wars, learning about rendition, AbuGhraib, USA officials defending torture, ignoring subpeonas, taught that we have a legal system with double standards.
Quite a lot of this may have been suspected but we have had it confirmed by reputable groups such as Amnesty & Red Cross + the United Nations.
No doubt at all in my mind that I live in a police state, much more frightening than any blather about ‘terrists’.
My city is broke, hell the whole country is broke trying to maintain the addiction to war, weapons and empire and keeping Israel on the dole.

Kate, it is hard to believe that the situation in the U.S. can continue for too much longer. Surely something has to give!
