Much Ado About Nothing!

Friends, the photograph above shows an Italian Jewish leader confronting the Pope. He is berating the Pontiff (also called the Holy Father) because, during WW2, the then Pontiff didn’t speak our strongly enough about the horrific actions of the Germans during the period of the Holocaust.

Now this struck me as rather ironic. Here we have a Jewish leader whose brethren in Israel have carried out, over sixty years, one of the most brutal occupations and genocide in history (against the Palestinian people), having the temerity to challenge the leader of the world’s richest Church, one whose congregation live in poverty and whose senior clerics live in luxurious palaces while many others of their priests molest children, etc, over something that happened to Jews, gypsies, handicapped people, Russians, etc,  sixty-five years ago!

“The silence of Pius XII before the Shoah, still hurts because something should have been done,” Pacifici told the pope, using the Hebrew word for the Holocaust.

“Maybe it would not have stopped the death trains, but it would have sent a signal, a word of extreme comfort, of human solidarity, toward those brothers of ours transported to the ovens of Auschwitz,” he said (according to Reuters).

Since when have the Jewish people in their homeland of Israel extended extreme comfort to the Palestinians who, on a daily basis, they murder, starve, torture, beat, impede, deny medical attention to, steal land from, demolish houses belonging to, etc? If they don’t extend comfort or compassion, why should they expect it?

It seems to me to be a little like the pot calling the kettle black. The hypocrisy of both these men and the religions they represent is astounding. The Pope should be condemning the Israeli Jews for their atrocities and the Jewish leader should be condemning the Catholic Church for its affluence which should be redistributed to the poor!

But then, in things religious, to expect logic and consistency and truth is rather foolish!

Besides, religious leaders have to stick together lest anyone question their fraud!

I’ve been thinking about this issue for a very long time.
My understanding is that Pius XII had a treaty or understanding with Hitler’s Germany, that he would stay out of German business in exchange for protection of Catholic clergy.

Now tell me how today’s Israeli would decide under the same circumstances?

I have written dozens of letters to the pope begging for him to speak out for the oppressed people of Palestine, I’ve never received any reply.

It is the heighth of immorality to have it within your power to save human lives & choose to do nothing.

What do the zionists have over Benedict? Besides the Hitler Youth thing?
It seems to me every group, church, etc. are terrified of annoying the Israelies, including all the USA politicians (Kucinich, etc. are the exceptions.)

If the Pontiff cannot alleviate the suffering of the Pals, what is his function? To gather more cash, treasures, maybe a more modern army?

He is obsolete & perhaps worse than useless.

Letters to the Pope are so important, and thanks kate bates. Anti-zionist Catholics have published arguments that every pope since Pius XII, have been apostates. Anyway, he is now in Israel begging the top Jew, Natanyahu, to not be mad at him for elevating Pius XII to qualify for sainthood, after having called them the chosen people, during his recent last visit.(

In the meantime, Haitians are devastated, in a predominately, in name at least, Catholic country, and where is His Holiness (hee hee). give me a break!!

Kate, I guess the R.C. Church wants to pretend that the Pope is not an old, frail, incontinent man but some divine personage. To have him do something human like answering a letter is not part of the show. He has to wave smoking things about, speak in Latin, allow people to kiss his ring, wave from his Popemobile, etc.

Therese, the ringmasters of every religion must go through the motions, entertain the flock, keep them believing and paying their money!

Religion couldn’t survive without the gullible. And politicians wouldn’t survive without religion!

Kate bates really said it all with the remark about how immoral it is to have the power to do something to save lives and yet CHOOSE to do nothing.

We all see this happen everyday in the actions of our goverment and corporations. They choose to do nothing to help, but rather choose to do harm yet nothing is done to stop them and they are celebrated and praised by so many people.

More of us need to make the choice to standup and defy the government/ corporate behemoth that has chosen to destroy so much of our world. We all need to choose a better way to live.

Jeannie, advertising decides what is a better way to live, advertising that encourages everyone to spend money they don’t have on things they don’t need.

Somehow we have to show the con that capitalism is. More is not better!

Cheers!

Between this post and the comments, you have all pretty much said it all!

What can I add? Except for my contribution to the collective disgust at both “Holy Men.”

My God, the Palestinians are suffering NOW. The Haitians, a primarily Catholic country, are suffering NOW. Time is wasted on the pomp and circumstance and Hot Air.

“..something that happened to Jews, gypsies, handicapped people, Russians, etc,..”

This always reads like a footnote to the Holocaust. It is all about the Jews, dammit. Gypsies are still hated, handicaps resented, Russians have mostly turned to crime to survive all these years. America is giving 3 Billion this year- and each year – and yet the Israelis still hate and disrepect US. They hate Obama and direspect all that is given to them. Do nothing to help anybody else!! They are Eternal Victims and they aren’t even ashamed of this long-term plan. They make those uncivilized Muslim states look like saints – compared to how the Israelis behave! This is coming from a self-centedered American. I live in a multi-cultural society -and as any aspiring, conscious member, is always fine tuning and working at evolving with a sense of fairness for a peaceful society.

Nobody talks about how Hitler was from a Jewish family.

Hello.

What is really going on here?

Grace, hello! It amazes me that more people don’t look at a situation like this and condemn both ‘leaders.’ Both men look exactly what they are: a pair of frauds!

Then the world is run by fraudsters, each one ripping people off while laughing at them.
