And The Prize for Arrogance Goes To…

Who is he?

Adina thinks it might be this man!

Friends, I have been closely watching the events at Copenhagen. There was one world leader who, without excuse and acting like  God, arrived on the last day. He quickly gathered around him the leaders of four other nations: China, India, South Africa and Brazil.

These people, behind closed doors, discussed then formulated a third treaty.  This treaty was then shown to 25 other world leaders including Kevin Rudd and Gordon Brown. These selected leaders then rubber-stamped the treaty without consultation with any of the 162 other nations who, at that stage, weren’t even shown the new treaty.

This world leader then held a press conference in which he told the world that there was a treaty, one that allowed each nation to set their own greenhouse targets but no one would be bound by any of their targets including his country.

Then this man left the Conference before a final vote had been taken by the assembly and, on the same day that he arrived, jetted back towards his own nation.

As he flew back he knew that the Senate was waiting to cripple him, was waiting to stop any attempt to force his nation’s industries to curtail the massive amount of greenhouse gases that they generate twenty-four hours a day, seven days a weeks (for example, one state in this nation generates more greenhouse gases than many other nations in the world).

To this leader and the corporations which run him and his nation, creating jobs and super profits is what is important, not the dangerous effects of global warming.

Surely, in the annals of human history, rarely has any world leader acted with such arrogance, with such contempt for other nations, with such a lack of courtesy and protocol, with such a poor grasp of the issues and their ramifications.

Can you guess which leader I’m referring to? Hint: apparently he went to Harvard though you’d never know it! If you look at the above drawing carefully, you’ll notice a similarity between the donkey’s broad grin and big teeth and his face.

N.B. The Conference is not yet over. There may be an update to this post in a few hours when the whole Conference get to see and vote on a treaty created by a small cabal of politicians who represent the world’s biggest polluters and industrialists plus a few token leaders of poor nations.

Stay tuned!

UPDATE:  20/12/2009. It was as I predicted. The conference was a complete failure. The treaty or accord is not worth the paper it was written on. Greed and selfish national interest prevailed over commonsense. The rich nations rolled the developing nations, treated them with complete contempt. The world has suffered a setback so that a few can have it all.

Copenhagen exposes humans for what they are: greedy and dumb!

  1. Hi David, MIGHT MAKES RIGHT…..Just back from watching Avatar. Probably a naive approach to the reality of power but one CANNOT abandon hope. Humans are amazing. This world leader is a slave of the corporations that are NOT human. To rule the world used to be the dream of many failed systems – remember when my kids watched the Saturday morning cartoons with the mad scientist who wanted to rule the world. He always failed……

Margit, great to hear from you! Two things happened since my try at temporarily closing down my blog. One, I got an acute infection which delayed the treatment and, two, I found that I had too much time on my hands to think negative thoughts. So I began to post again and…well, here I am!

I’m two weeks away from eight weeks of radiotherapy five days a week so there is some disruption coming but I’ll do my best to keep the blog going even though the treatment is given in Sydney which is 300 kilometres away from where I live.

I agree, Obama is a slave of the corporations but then so are most Americans!

  2. David, only for once, I think I got a suggestion, more of a kind request actually.
I think it would be unprecedented, but I have a proposal for you.
Please CHANGE today’s post picture by adding another one next to it.
    Please do that for me….

    Gallaxhar,

    http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/completestore/2009/3/19/128819631009973428.jpg

from animated movie Alien vs. Monster.

That s the truest resemblence I can see…
He wants to conquer the worlds.
Gallax-czar.. who better suit that than our Obamarama Czar of the Gallaxy, bombing the moon in search of water, scouting the solar system for this mushroom virus corporate human to expand to places no man has been before, getting a price for peace for sending more troops to an indefinite war with a non beligerant country, coming to copenhagen as and when he pleases and pulling the strings dialing the dices ignoring whom he considers not important..

The poor donkey is faaaar a too kind and jolly figure.
Check out Gallaxhar, and I HOPE you will like this resemblance in aestetic and character as much as I do.
    :)
    Thank you, brother.

  5. It never seems to dawn on people when they ask why so much of the world hates the US that the arrogance just shown by Obama is one of the reasons. Of course there are many many more reasons, but that total disregard for anyone else, their needs or wants is sure to make other people angry.
I suppose that arrogance also makes those same people blind to what they are doing or they just don’t care.
The rest of the world will not tolerate such actions forever. Someday the US will have to pay for it’s behavior. The problem is it will be the little people who will suffer the most. Just like it is the little people in third world countries that are and will suffer the most from climate change.

  6. Adina I like your picture idea! For some reason the donkey isn’t downloading this morning. I can only see the ears!

Obama seems to think of himself as a world dictator now. I have a feeling that this will end badly for everyone. He already threatened the Senate that if they didn’t pass the bill he wanted he would use the EPA to pass laws and enforce them on Americans. So the environmental protection agency will truly become the environmental police agency.

  7. Like a whirlwind he arrived! I am left with one word, WOW. Not a wow in the impressed way, but wow – in the audacity kind of way. He has come a long way from, The Audacity of Hope!

Galaxy Czar, or Gallaxhar, for short, is who he and his supporters thinks he is! I feel like one of the 162 who didn’t get invited! Thanks Adina, imagus perfectionis!

Gee, where do we go from here. We all started in a little town called, “Hope.” – gee, just a year ago .. Thanks David for spelling it out so clearly.

  8. David, this is an aside, but when you go through that horribly grueling sounding treatment!, if the doctors suggest any mood drugs to help you through that time, it’s ok. That is what those things are for. Sometimes they can act as a bridge to help you through things that are overwhelming. You probably wouldn’t want or need them when you are through, but I want you to stay happy and strong, no matter how bad you might feel. For me, they found a spinal tumor next to my spinal cord and now they want to just watch it and see how fast it grows. Sometimes I would like to crawl out of my body. Sometimes I get too drugged and I shouldn’t post at those times. You start to learn how to get things done when you feel good, and rest, guilt free when you don’t. Ok, nuf said.

  9. There is one more thing. There is a wonderfaul alternative to Pharma pills and that is Cannabis Sativa. Works like magic on nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, anxiety, negative thoughts erased, increased awareness of nature when smoked or vaporized. Amazing nights of sleep when in edible form such as a delicious brownie or cake. Peace on Earthship : )

  10. I posted on here the other day that I had been noticing more news about Pakistan lately but today this story is on every internet news site I’ve been to.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iraq

Just in case that link doesn’t work it’s about Iran taking over Iraq’s oil well. Makes me remember where you said recently David that it wouldn’t be surprising if Iran was bombed before xmas.

  11. John, the failure in Copenhagen shows how paltry most world leaders are and how little they understand the world they live in and the danger that exists.

    Adina, thanks for the link!

Jeannie, you’re right, one day the U.S. will pay. I hope that day will come soon before the nukes start falling!

Kathy, even the ears are a dead giveaway!

Grace, thanks for your kind thoughts and suggestions. That you would like to crawl out of your body is a thought that I can identify with too!

Kathy, I’ve been watching that story. Who can tell what Xmas might bring!

    Peace and love to all.

  12. No wonder it is reported that the chair of the Democrat Party, Howard Dean, is looking for someone to run against Barack Obama for president, next time round.
