Do Not Expect Much…

Omar

“Do not expect much of the world and live contented,

Ignore the good and ill that time brings;

Take wine in your hand and a sweet girl’s tresses

For they quickly go and these few days do not last.”

The Ruba’iyat of Omar Khayyam.

P.S. Love and peace to all!

  1. It’s me, Catauro, back from the dead! Only joking! Probably.

I had a procedure done last week and they succeeded in giving me an acute infection. I spent five days on a drip and antibiotics. At this stage the whole treatment regime has been suspended so back to the drawing board. Ah, the wonders of modern medicine.

The words of Omar seem particularly appropriate to my current situation. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry! Perhaps the former is a better option. :)

It doesn’t pay to take life too seriously!

  2. Hey, Simon and Spike, I’m not sure whether I’m back or not! One minute my life was completely programmed and the next minute I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go! I’ll keep you posted.

I notice that America is playing its cruel, deceptive games with the Palestinians again. At least I have some control over my life. The Palestinians have none!

  3. Nice to have you back in the mailbox David.-
I’m happy you haven’t lost your well developed sence for humor (back form the death !) Apropos Palestinians!
who shouldn’t wont this to happen (be back form the death) ? EXCEPT, perhaps all the killed Palestinians (2oo8/9), living in Gaza which life anyway are totally controlled by / dependent on the mercy of the zionist, (armed to the teeth) backed by the, so called, ‘international community’.
    If if if
If I had to live there and if I were killed then, (the latest massacre 1400 women and children incl.) I’m really not sure I would wish to be back to ‘life’- – but – that’s fortunately, for us, another issue.

I wish you luck on you way to healthiness.

  4. I’m happy you’re still with us, David. Of all the invariable injustices we sentient Earth creatures can deal with, perhaps, in the end, there is none greater than the way disease will often seek out those who least deserve its company. There aren’t nearly enough truly good, caring successful human beings out there; those who can feel the pain and anguish of the trampled-upon and actually react to it, actively. Thank you, Dave, for being one of them.

  5. What a beautiful message and picture you greet us with, a tribute to life. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our minds are three dimensional, and that death of the body does not mean the end for the person.

There is beauty in the world, Therese. Finding it sometimes is not easy.

  6. Wonderful to have you back David, I’m sorry things are not going well for you. Modern medicine can be great when and if it works, but so often its seems not to. I hope things get better for you soon!
I have loved Omar Khayyam since my teens. He can say so much with so few words that cut to the heart of an issue.
