Time Out!

timeout

Friends, I am about to begin treatment for the life-threatening medical problem which I mentioned some time ago. I feel that I will better cope with the situation without simultaneously dealing with the stress of some of the world’s problems.

As well, I’m just so tired at the moment that keeping the blog going is becoming a bit of a chore. Resultantly, from the middle of October, I’ll take a break until early in the New Year when the treatment stops. What I do then will depend on the success of the treatment and how I feel.

I have mixed feelings about the time out. I have put such a lot of work into this blog (and the Seeking Utopia one before it) and I’ve interacted with such great folk (and a few that weren’t so great), that it is hard to let go. But I have to listen to what my body is telling me.

Take care of yourselves, dear friends, and continue to do your best to make the world a better place for everyone while watching out for yourselves.

Cheers.

David, I will miss your blog. Also, I want what is best for you. Time and space are excellent restoratives.
I probably need a break too. There is also a serious health issue overwhelming my life and affecting content.
I look forward personal and global healing. It seems at this rate, the headlines will remain the same. Peace and health. Humor and humanity.

well david, you’ve put so much into this website and worked so hard at it that even without an illness, you probably need a break. all this worldwide suffering and bleak outlook is not good for the spirit. so have a good long break and focus on yourself for a while. try to relax with nature and her wonderful critters. just today i was on the beach and some beautiful little waders came up to share my food. they were only a foot away from me at times and i was really engrossed in their antics and concentrating on nothing but them. nature is a wonderful distraction.
wishing you all the best.

Over the time I have followed this site it has given me hope seeing there is
still many caring decent people about. I probably won’t be here to see it but
I’m sure the evil ones will eventually be brought to book one way or another.

I’m not much with words David but all the best and look forward to your return.

Wish u the best buddy, hope everything goes well. And when your feeling back to par I hope you decide to continue this blog. It’s very comforting to know that there are other people out there who care about human life still and have an open mind about world politics. I live in West Virginia, which dont get me wrong it is a beautiful state, but unfortunately the people here are very closed minded. This blog gives me hope that there are enough people out there that CAN make a difference in this world. Regardless of what you do with this blog in the future, I want to say thank you very much for giving us all your time, effort, and ears.

Friends, the warm wishes and love you have expressed above will greatly help me through the dark hours that await me. I thank each one of you for taking the time to do so. It means a lot to me.

It is obvious from the comments that we who care about our world and other people have a special link. Hopefully such links will grow and expand until, eventually, our world is run by compassionate, moral, generous, caring, rational, thinking, selfless, peace-loving humans rather than the lowlife who all too often hold the reins of power.

Take care and may peace and love be your constant companions!

David, I want to commend you on an awesome and unique blogsite. Part of the uniqueness has been your engagement with readers. In this world, it is refreshing to find a real person “behind the curtain.” and to get a chance to hold the “talking stick” before a global community. When I found your site and the questions you pose, I stopped posting in many other sites, as it was nice to not just be a stranger in this series of tubes called the internet.

I want you to get all better. Best to you and your family.

David,

I haven’t visited this blog since our “sparring” here several months ago, so it is only now that I learned about your condition. I know that you classify me as part of the folk that “weren’t so great”; in my turn, I couldn’t disagree stronger with everything that you have been writing about Jews and Israel.

However, all the differences between us fade alongside the problem you are facing. May I wish you to be strong and lucky; may I hope that you will emerge victorious, and that you have a long happy life ahead of you.

Kristen, et al, I’ll leave the blog up. Perhaps you’ll talk among yourselves. I’ll try to drop a line now and again to show you that I’m still plugging along.

Grace, it’s contributions by people like you that make this blog special. It’s a team effort!

Kathy and Coco, the interaction between the blog author and the readership is what is important. As we discuss issues, we learn. I know I’ve learned a lot!

Jake P, debate is healthy as long as it is constructive and people have open minds.

Bravehart, my own hope falters at times. The problems seem insurmountable. That’s why it’s important to communicate with folk who have similar values and goals. As a team, we’re stronger!

Peace and love to all.

David, good luck to you with your treatment.

Obviously, neither of us believes in prayer or the possibility of it affecting someone’s health indirectly.

But the human connections you have forged with people all over the world, people who care about you and wish only the best for you, has to be heartening and heart warming for you.

We are tribal animals and you have a world wide tribe that wants you to get well.

Take heart in that and fight on!

Dolce, ‘rousings’ is a good word. I try to avoid putting people to sleep!

Wagelaborer, I’m not sure whether I have a world-wide tribe or not. That some people care is enough for me.

Kristen, I am attracted to the Buddhist philosophy also. If you don’t expect much you can’t be disappointed.

Life is a rocky journey. Each time I get knocked down or fall, I get up, dust myself off, and start punching again.

One day I won’t of course but I’m hopeful that that day is still in the distant future.

Peace to all.

I know what you mean, David. As effed up as the world matters appear and as dire as the prognosis, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. In fact, I see myself hopefully inheriting an Earth that is somewhat inhabitable (and infinitely more pleasurable than a current system run by Fascists, no-heart Sociopaths and their sense of entitlement to rule us all.) The ones who demand luxury – can go to Mars. Yay. Party on Earth. They are going to leave it a mess! Maybe my son will figure out how to load all our toxins on to ships and send it somewhere(?)

Fun times.

Relax.

Thanks, David, and all.

Good time out and good luck, David!
And while recovering – try to do what the sweet little creature on the picture is doing: close your eyes. It will surely be very difficult for one like you NOT to read and look into world news! I think that will be one of the big challenges. But look, you won’t miss anything important and your soul will get a real good rest.

And don’t worry: the little tribe enjoying your work and contributing to your blog will keep an open eye on world affairs for you while you keep your eyes closed. And then we’ll all be very happy to welcome you back!

Best wishes and a big hug!

dear friend David, I was blessed to find your blog (either on Infoclearing or Common Dreams)
Take care of yourself and be assured that you have many people wishing the best for you, me included.
Knowing you don’t believe in organized religion I still want to offer the thought that when people pray for your well being, health & success (or meditate, I believe it’s the same) miracles have been believed to happen.
The mind is very powerful and its mysteries have barely been uncovered.
My thoughts are with you and your amazing mind, may you receive the results you want.

Thanks for your kind wishes, Adina. Because of an infection, the treatment won’t actually start now until early January and will be spread over eight long weeks. Hopefully it will do the trick but with cancer there are no guarantees.

I thought to stop involving myself in world affairs but I’ve found it gives me too much time to worry about myself. It’s better that I worry about others and feel I’m doing something positive.

David I’m relatively new here but will try to describe how important you are to me.

You have done more to help wake me up about the Israeli/American connection than any other source on this internet. The fact that you interact with all these wonderful people who post comments only adds to my ability to research things. You guys bring the light of truth to the darkness of lies and expose them very well. I thank you all for that.

Some people go through life trying to find their purpose. (Dharma) Surely David, no matter what other skills and gifts you have, this website and your ability to communicate truth in such a down to earth manner must be one of your greatest purposes/gifts in life to all of us.

I would not want you to worry for yourself or for others because worry is not good for overall health and right now you need to heal. Know that you are doing something positive in that you have planted these seeds and someone like me can come along and start to ‘wake up’ so that I can further your truth…(our truth) to others. I’ve already started to tell it to others.

The world and the truth are very sad and worrisome and crying over it is good for clearing the body of built up negative emotions. So cry whenever you need to. Laugh whenever you can. And know that everything you do here is a postive for me. I appreciate you and I visualize you as already being healed and whole. Thank You David!

Kathy, it’s because of people like you that I continue on. We, the people, if we start to use our intelligence and begin to question the propaganda and lies that our minds have been filled with ever since we were born, can make a world which would be a wonderful place to live in.

Too many people think that the world that surrounds them is immutable, unchangeable. It’s not. We don’t really need to have constant war, billionaires, competing religions, political masters, economic inequality, capitalism, a city lifestyle, greed, racism, etc.

People don’t really need to spend most of their lives learning to be producers and consumers so that a few capitalists can become incredibly wealthy. There shouldn’t be poverty in the world and there wouldn’t be if the world’s wealth were to be spread more equally.

We need to return to simple values again, those of generosity, compassion, selflessness. We need to embrace the arts, develop our own talents, grow some of our own food, learn respect for all life forms, treat our planet with care rather than see it only as a place to make a quick buck!

Kathy, take care and thanks.
