Has Imperial Rome Been Resurrected?

Rome

The legions of Rome were ruthless and all conquering!

Friends, from the ashes of the bloodthirsty, greedy, decadent Roman Empire, perhaps a new Empire has arisen, one created in part by stealth and duplicity.

This new Empire is not located in Rome but you will work out where it is located if you answer the following questions:

- which nation spends more on defence than the rest of the world combined?

- which nation’s economy would go bankrupt if its weapons industries were closed down?

- which nation has its legions…sorry, armies spread right across the world?

- which nation has initiated most of the wars since 1945?

- which nation is heavily into invasion and occupation in resource rich countries?

- which nation is the world leader in destabilizing national leaders, arranging coups, carrying out false-flag operations, and supporting terrorists whose objectives suit its own?

- which nation claims to support democracy but is in bed with all manner of tyrannical Royal families and Despots?

- which nation arms and supports a small racist State which has occupied, brutalized and carried out genocide against another people for sixty years and stolen much of their land?

- which nation doesn’t count or care about civilian deaths caused by its armed forces?

- which nation now employs torture and rendition as part of its military strategy?

- which nation is trying to gain control of the world using a combination of military and economic force?

Well, how did you go? Did you work out which nation it is?

This nation, behind its bluster and flag waving, is a throwback to the Dark Ages. Like Rome, it is greedy. It loves war and violence. And it will do and say anything to achieve its selfish objectives.

The world would be better off without it!

Much.

  1. Which nation you ask, The United States of America, The Land of the Fee, where 45 million people have no health insurance, where African Americans are stopped from rebuilding their homes after Katrina in New Orleans by armed National Guard, Where it is a percieved right to carry weapons, Where a patriot calling for death and destruction is valued more than compassion and empathy, Where it’s appetite for narcotics kills thousands around the world not in providing narcotics but hopelessly trying to stop it (but not in Afgahnistan). Where true people of liberty and justice are assasinated, Where the budget for trying to put man back on the moon could feed The worlds starving for 1 year. Realalisticaly would the world be better off without them, what are the alternatives, is it a case of the lesser of two evils?

Which two evils are you referring to, Kemosobi?

  2. Re: U.S.A. it seems our greatest strength in the coming years will be our military culture. We don’t produce like we used to, but we are a nation of mercenaries and medics for hire. We do produce weapons and bulldozers of superior quality. Our soldiers arrive in their own hummers and tanks, armed to the teeth. Seems a bit Roman Empire-esque, no?

  3. Well let’s look at it, if the USA fell or rusts away, many countries in the western world including ours would collapse also.
India and Pakistan will have another war (possibly nuclear)
North Korea and Burma may want to export their ideology through armed conflict
Israel would be a war with everybody else (Israel will use nuclear weapons)
China and Russia form a coalition to punish the EU (economically and militarily)
China will reunify Taiwan, and no concerted world condemnation would stop them of ethic cleansing on scale that would make the holocaust look like a tea party.
Islamic fundamentalists become emboldened and launch a Jihad against Saudi Arabia and any other Islamic state with support from the likes of Iran, Libya and Egypt, then they would unite to fight the Jews.
Kosovo will be retaken by the Serbs, ethnic cleansing occurs, war spreads throughout the Balkans
The Caucuses will erupt in total guerrilla warfare against Russia as they will want independence and seize the opportunity and through History Russia has always controlled it’s neighbours by force, so more war.
So the lesser of the two evils is the USA or the alternative is total Chaos with wars here and there escalating continuously with nuclear weapons, life in Africa would become hopeless and of course if an invasion of the USA tried to occur then you would have MAD, mutually assured destruction. For someone as educated as yourself and who justifiably hates war, injustice, inequality, godly fraud, war, capitalism, imperialism and greed, these are the exact things you can expect if the USA collapses, unless there is a Utopia. What is your interpretation David of what would happen if the USA fell.

  4. Dear Grace, if only most Americans were like you, America wouldn’t be the major problem to the world that it is! Of course, we could say that America’s problems were all to do with its political leadership, its corporations, its financial institutions, its religious fundamentalists, its financial elite, etc, but that wouldn’t excuse the bulk of its citizens who, by their apathy, endorse its imperialism and greed.

Kemosobi, if America fell, I would see a positive result. Countries that have resources that America wants could breathe easily. Countries like China and Russia would no longer have to fear American domination or the possibility of nuclear attack or have to engage in an arms race.

Nations across the world would be able to spend more money on things like education and better health rather than arms. If the world’s major warmonger went out of business, then people might start talking about and thinking about achieving peace.

Israel would go up in a puff of holy smoke if America went bankrupt. We might be able to achieve market regulation if the American carpetbagging cowboys were ridden out of town on a rail.

I believe that America keeps the world on a war footing because it makes money from war, it frightens everyone, it turns potential friends into enemies, it elevates greed into an art form, it exemplifies the ‘me-first’ philosophy, and it is the world’s major exponent of imperialism.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Imperial Rome was resurrected 8 years ago under the Bush-capades, followed in close order by the Obama-capades, however, we can all take heart amid the deepening gloom that even Rome fell. The Israeli vassal known as the united states of america will soon fall under the weight of its own lies, deceit and corruption. What will replace it? No one knows, but we do know there is a plethora of greedy, sadistic and corrupt individuals ready to take over. Somehow, in humanity, the supply never dwindles.

  6. David, thanks for your reply, I understand where your coming from. All I can say is that you have a lot more of faith in Humans than myself. After all we humans are a Dangerous Accident of evolution not a creation.

Kemosobi, I have absolutely no faith in the majority of humans. But the people who contribute to this blog allow me to live in hope that one day…

Given my atheism, I consider that Nature created humans. What a terrible mistake! :)

  7. America is bad and is continueing to get worse. Obama is giving us change, he is even worse than GW Bush and that takes some doing.
He is waging even more wars, expanding spying and is totally enslaved by financial interests.
The average american cannot, even if they wanted to, to anything to stop the insanity.
While the real america was never the america that we were taught about in school the one we have now seems more like facism with a lot of PR about democracy, especially at election time and patriotic holidays.
It is a terrible country doing terrible things and with all it’s wealth and talent it could do and be a great country.

I agree with all of Jeannie’s points. And thanks David, for numbering some of the imperialistic militaristic ways of the USA, which goes back to our involvement in WWII.

  8. David, your kindness, and other writers too, also represent(s) a slice of humanity for me. It’s awesome that you are on the other side of the planet and what happens here, there and everywhere is relevant to us all.

The Empire has practiced plenty on its own population. I, myself have relinquished all rights to privacy since I became a person with a chronic condition that requires class c drugs. I am randomly piss-tested. They know everything I do, from the inside out. In order to stay positive, I take what little they share of what they know of me and use it for self-knowledge purposes. The deeper I get into this realm, the more zen I feel I am becoming, which actually is what I always wanted. Odd paradox at times. It puts one at the eye of the storm.

    Peace.

  9. Jeannie, why are there so few Americans who can see what their country is all about, people like you?

It surely can’t be genetic so it must come down to propaganda handed down from generation to generation as well as that which is State generated.

Grace, I’m glad that you have found ways to experience peace at times. I guess it’s a case of necessity for everyone given the vicissitudes of human life and the world, though sometimes it’s not easy.

    Take care, both of you!

David hope you are well as answer to the question above Americans are bred to be consumers and basically one dimensional people ,as are many people of the world capitalism is at the least a mental disorder and at best a highly addictive substance abuse problem. it is the constant buying off of ones soul for basic necessaties at first and than that segways into self absorbtion slavery sold off as rewards to a life (well lived) in being led into and bound by our own destruction these stages that are passed off as normal life getting into a house u cant afford buying a car and or many cars vacations vacation homes the best clothes jewelry etc the list goes on and on and with it the sense of entitlement that because of your service in whatever capcity u deserve this and more and those who havent. deserve to be living in a car or homeless uninsured or what have u and in addition to the mindset of looking down on those who havent done what u have supposedly.in a country where there are people who are always afraid of evrything drug abuse crime save the children are causing the very thing they fear by there rampant consumer recklessness thats fostered by every media outlet and polotician in the country .keep giving the average man in this country a six pack and a football game the woman clothes romantic notions like hollywood starlets jewelry etc and the family a wide screen tv and u can pretty much tell them what to do like training a pet but a pet will resist subjagation quicker than man will and the last thing keep all the machinary the blood the guts under wraps or a worthy or godly cause and everyone will endorse it such an ugly ignorant way of life.
