A Glimmer Of Hope!

Muntazer al-Zaidi

The shoe-thrower, Muntazer al-Zaidi, hugs his sister following his release from prison.

This ordinary Iraqi stood up to the might of Imperial America.

He forcefully insulted its Commander in Chief.

He suffered gravely for his bravery.

“Hopefully he’ll inspire others to follow suit.

Let’s give the Evil Empire the boot!”

  1. Huzzah! Thank goodness he is out of jail. If Bush would have been the slightest mensch, he would have made a joke of it and let it go. Bush was far too guilty for that little bit of humanity,

For sure, this brave patriot, Muntazer al-Zaidi, would be in Howard Zinn’s, a people’s history, the true history of people and societies, were Zinn to alive to make modern additions.

  2. Grace, many Americans who contribute to blogs are either brain dead or hopelessly indoctrinated (q for example). Your valuable contributions, by contrast, show what Americans are capable of. Take care.

  3. Well Done Alzaida you are now free.
Grace he is a patriot as he stood up for something he believed his country wanted with no ulterior motives. My interpretation of patriotism is nationalism, “Nationalism is both a vital medicine and a dangerous drug” Geoffrey Blainey – Historian, unfortuntely your countries right have made it a dangerous drug. patriotism is often driven by altruistic sentiments “The Australian flag was being used as gang colours. It was racism disguised as patriotism and I’m not going to tolerate it.” Paul Mulvey
To the left Patriotism is dangerous and associated with, war, glory on the battle field sort of crap, non tolerance of anyone not of your country ie racism.

  4. What a MAN! True hero! Hope he’ll live a long, happy life! Avoid small planes and zionazis….
Shows that heroism is alive and well in these days of greed and violence.

Margit, most people wouldn’t know what real heroism was. Some people actually think that dropping bombs on people who have no air defenses or underground bunkers is heroic.

    Such people are morons!

Irfaan, part of his heroism was to recognize the horror that America visited upon his country and its citizens. He was able to separate the grim reality from the flag-waving, duplicitous propaganda.

It would be great if more Americans could do likewise!

  6. I am happy on behalf of Muntazer al-Zaidi, as the free man he deserves to be.
but the sad thing is that justice for the most, those who don’t have the money to pay for it – is a town in Russia.

If justice functioned, GWBush and his ilk would long ago been procecuted to lifesentence, at least, for war crimes with all of it’s mass murderings.

  7. America and the world need millions more like him! What he did took great courage. Too many people today seem to be afaid to speak up or do anything that might upset those in power.

  8. John, I keep waiting for some Church to make George W. a Saint. It could only happen in America!

Jeannie, the system in America makes it difficult for citizens to question authority. They are accused of being unpatriotic and are spied upon and harassed. America is sliding towards 1984!

  9. The man is a courageous hero who stood up to a miserable weasel, war criminal leader of the world’s superpower who killed his countrymen and wrecked his country. He deserved a reward, not a jail term.
