You Can’t Change The World!

Why do people choose to live in ugly, polluted, crime-filled cities?

Friends, I’ve come to the conclusion that the world can’t be changed, human nature being what it is. And I’ve also realized that trying to change it yields nothing but stress and frustration which, in turn, can lead to medical problems.

Let’s face it, the Masters of the Universe are holding all the cards. They control the money and they have all the power. We, the people, even the few of us who think, are virtually powerless. Sure we can protest and complain via the internet but big deal! Do you really think the Masters of the Universe care what we say? In their boardrooms, cabinet rooms, war rooms and in luxurious drawing rooms, they set the world agenda to suit themselves.

All we can really do is to change our own little temporal world, make it as secure and peaceful as possible. For example, we can choose to live in a pastoral setting. We can carefully choose our circle of friends and relatives. We can choose our lifestyle. We can choose our partner. We can let as much or as little of the outside world into our own world as we choose (little is obviously better).

We can grow our own food. We can meditate. We can engage in artistic pursuits: painting, sculpture, crafts, hobbies, sports. We can wear animal skins or wear nothing. We can believe in a god or be godless. We can value caring and generosity and compassion and honesty and teach our children to do likewise.

In our private world we set the agenda. We call the shots. We become the masters of our own destiny. With a few others of like mind (or on our own) we can find peace and happiness during our short lives.

We must stop worrying constantly about all the injustices in the world and allow it to go to hell in a hand basket which it will anyway!

Embark on creating your own happy world now, while you can. You will be stronger for it.

You’ve already wasted too much time!

Sadly, as we know, forcing anyone to do anything, rarely works.

Although, I do believe, in small ways, our interactions do affect the world in ways we do not see at the moment.

Sadly too, $$$$ and greed seem to rule the roost everywhere, although a revolution of some sort would seem to be in the works after recent events.

I see but am not surprised that bush and co movements are finally coming out to be exactly what we thought at the time.

Unfortunately, taking responsibility for their actions will never occur. Too many books to be written by them and people purchasing them and making them even wealthier than they are ; (

Hope U R doing well ; ) Cheers!

Coffee, would that there was a revolution after the global economic crisis.

But they threw enough taxpayers’ money at the financial crisis and largely bailed out the Masters of the Universe who want the unjust status quo to remain.

The more things change…

Cheers.

History repeats itself! Try to be at the morally correct side! Be aware of the predators! Ignorance is NOT bliss in the long run…International banksters have controlled us for a long, long time. Read about the riches of the Fugger banksters in Germany. Nobody talks about them even though they were supposedly richer than the Medici gangsters. One crime family after the other. So the Bush crime family is not news. Just be aware and avoid fighting their wars – I think that will lead to happiness. I have more in common with an Australian native than with my fellow criminals. Avoid sociopaths and psychopaths – your happiness will be guaranteed as long as you have food and shelter and are free of pain! Happiness is a process, in my opinion, listening to the birds in the morning, watching the stars at night. If you are lucky you have people in your life to share things with but I believe that even solitary people can be happy on their own. Just my 2 cents of opinion. Thank you, David, for sharing your thoughts with us from so far, far away!

Gosh, indeed, Therese. I guess the truth about the world and humans has been staring me in the face for a long, long time but I continued to deny it. No longer!

Margit, the sharing of thoughts makes us realize that, even if we can’t change the world, we are not alone and we are among like-minded friends. That is something that is beyond price!

Ever since I found out that much of my views and beliefs are mere constructs of a mind controlled by an ego that mimicks “me”,…. I find I just want to relax all thoughts and re-claim the true esssence and being-ness. Which is also to open up to infinite wonder and appreciation of what is. It is a kind of lonely time, my best-friends are the birds these days. I appreciate the direction you are heading in as well, David. Particularly what you and also Margit wrote.

Lessons I have learned recently: Do not make excuses for bad behavior. Having a hard time is never an excuse for rudeness. Remove yourself from toxic people and don’t feel bad about it. It is always worth it to improve oneself.

Cheers!

Cities can be wonderful places, if there is not great inequality or pollution. I like most people and think that most want to do good.

I like birds too, but they can be just as big of jerks as people. I remember throwing bread to seagulls once, and one of them kept dropping his piece to attack the others to try to get their piece! It seemed very human to me, but as I am around more animals I realize that humans ARE animals and we all act like jerks at times.

And I had a little hummingbird at my window today, so I refilled the feeder. It just kept looking in my window. I don’t know why, but it was beautiful. However, hummingbirds can be jerks, also.

Nobody’s perfect, as they say.

Stay well!

Grace, to remove yourself from toxic people is very important if one is to achieve peace and serenity.

The same applies to the myriad injustices in the world. There are so many they tend to be overwhelming so it’s best to consider them individually and ensure that you take plenty of time out to enjoy the safety and peace of your own world.

Remember too that you are not alone and that you have many friends on this blog who care about you!

Wagelaborer, I thought cities were wonderful when I was younger, all that excitement and movement. I hate to go to Sydney these days given the noise, the pollution, the traffic congestion and the aggressiveness of city drivers.

Living as I do on a rural property, I think I’m spoiled.

Take care both of you!

I am honored to find myself in your esteemed company. (And) Yeah, birds can be jerks too! They act like they are my pets, however, and I find it irresistable! It is like my little experiment worked: I allow nature to be wild and in this environment they thrive and end up loving the human.
BUT,..humans are my peeps. Am enjoying reading more than talking these days. Am looking forward to talking again too. This is a busier week than usual with indoctrination bootcamp, I mean, school is started and lots for parents to do.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. Same to you all. Cheers.
