First we bring you shock and awe! Then, for those who survive,
we bring a cleverly controlled democracy,
an illusion of freedom,
and a Big Mac!
Friends, John Pilger, a man who I greatly admire, has written an article on ICH which seems to put America in perspective. It should be read by everyone especially Americans!
I have put the link at the end of this post and I have included some excerpts which might frighten or upset you.
- It was a lesson in what historians call “exceptionalism”, the notion that the United States has the divine right to bring what it describes as liberty and democracy to the rest of humanity. That this merely disguised a system of domination, which Martin Luther King described, shortly before his assassination, as “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world”, was unspeakable.
- The countless massacres that followed, wrote Zinn, were justified by “the idea that American expansion is divinely ordained”.
- It was holiday time and lines of people, including many children, shuffled reverentially through a Santa’s grotto of war and conquest where messages about their nation’s “great mission” were dispensed.
- But what of George Washington’s call for a “rising empire” and James Madison’s “laying the foundation of a great empire”? What of slavery, the theft of Texas from Mexico, the bloody subjugation of central America, Cuba and the Philippines?

Friends, this morning on the BBC I saw an item about rhinos. It said that rhino poaching in Zambia was on the increase because of the huge market for powdered rhino horn which some men believe will increase their libido.
That humans could believe such a preposterous thing is amazing. It defies all logic, scientific knowledge, commonsense. But of course that is not the only preposterous thing that humans believe. No, humans believe all manner of crazy things. Some of them are:
- that there exists a god who, if they’re good, will give them eternal life.
- that there exists a perfect soul mate for them.
- that money brings happiness.
- that their nation is special and should rule the world.
- that might is right.
- that war is the best way to solve problems.

Friends, above is an image of some world leaders who are attending the G8 summit in Italy.
They all look responsible, sincere, statesperson-like. But are they? What the photograph doesn’t show is that behind each one of them there stretches out a long queue. A very long queue.
The queue is made up of many groups, specifically lobby groups. What kind of groups you ask? Well, there is the corporate group who provide donations to political parties or to leaders in exchange for favourable treatment. Then there are military lobbies made up of people in uniforms who want to see the army expanded so they can get more promotions. Close behind them are the armament manufacturers who supply the guns and munitions that fuel the wars.
Then there are the banks and finance companies and hedge funds that some say control the world. Next to them are wealthy dynasties like the Rothchilds who have their fingers in many pies. Then we have the religious lobbies who seek preferential tax treatment and the opportunity to push their various frauds. Some even demand the start of nuclear war so they can fulfill their fantasies.
The mining lobbies are there seeking to continue mining coal and petroleum even though there is global warming. Then there are the medical and dental lobbies and their friends, the pharmaceutical manufacturers. By now the queue is getting very long.

Friends, this morning while news-grazing, I caught an add for a kitchen detergent.
The scene was of a sparkling, huge, ultra-modern kichen complete with acres of stainless steel and plastic laminate and state of the art appliances.
It showed a smartly dressed, pretty woman spotting a mark on the sink. The mark was magnified to show a cartoon representation of ecoli bacteria spreading like wildfire. The shriek of a violin could be heard. My stress level rose!
Then she brandished this bottle of green liquid, gave the spot a quick spray, and the bacteria disappeared, its threat gone. Soft music played and the woman looked pleased, her family safe.
I managed to stifle an urge to immediately drive thirty kilometres down to the supermarket to buy some green detergent and banish all life-threatening bacteria from my world but unfortunately I couldn’t remember the name of the product. As well, I still had my pyjamas on.
Later, when sanity prevailed, I did a bit of reflecting then some digging in Goggle Images.

We love our independence! But not yours!
Friends, according to the BBC News this morning, Biden, the Vice President of the U.S., has indicated during an interview that America will allow Israel to do whatever it wants regarding the standoff with Iran over nuclear weapons.
Asked by the BBC whether the US would stand in the way if the Israelis decided to launch a military attack against Iranian nuclear facilities, Mr Biden said Israel, like the US, had a right to “determine what is in its interests”.
This admission clearly shows the depths of derangement that prevails both in Washington and Tel Aviv! Here we have nuclear-armed Israel, a country that is run by racist, religious fanatics, being given the green light to attack Iran and take out all their uranium sites. This green light is given by nuclear-armed America which not only arms Israel but is itself engaged in a plan to control the world using whatever force or coercion or bribery is necessary.
But the farce doesn’t end there! Mr Biden also told ABC television that the US could not “dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do”. I don’t know that that statement holds much water given the extent of U.S. military force used across the world since the end of WW2 against sovereign nations!

Which one is Putin?
Friends, on the 6th of July, Obama is to visit Moscow and have a chat with the Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin. It all sounds very jolly and friendly, doesn’t it?
Think again! Reuters reports today that Putin said: “If we see that our American partners stop the deployment of new military complexes, missile defence systems or, for example, reconsider their approach to expanding military-political blocs … this would be a great step forward.” Wow! What a mouthful! It’s truly a triumph of optimism over reality.
It boils down to Putin suggesting to America that it stop expanding its military bases which already straddle much of the world; that America stop its plans to put missile bases all over Europe; and that America stop trying to build military-political alliances which are designed to isolate and threaten powers like Russia and neutralize growing powers like India and China. This is equivalent to suggesting to a lion that it become a herbivore.
America, despite its small population (5%), is a nation whose unstated raison de etre, based on its actions, is war! Its manufacturing industry is largely geared to producing the weapons of war either to use or to sell. Even its President is called Commander in Chief and he wears both a civilian hat and an army helmet.
History shows that America engages in wars at the drop of a hat (though it was rather slow to enter WW2). It is involved with several at the moment and others are in the pipeline. It sees much of the world as a threat so, to counter this, it has bases everywhere, bases which its huge debt shows it can’t afford.

Friends, upon reflection I consider myself to have been a victim of many frauds during my life and I’m sure they’re not over yet. Perhaps you’ve had similar experiences.
I’ve listed most of mine in chronological order but I’m unsure how to rank them in order of degree of fraudulence. Perhaps you can help me!
1. The fraud that my family was special and that my mother and father and siblings would love me forever and surround me with continuous support and comfort.
2. The fraud in the fairy tales that suggested that living happily-ever-after was the way of the world and, if you were good, it would happen to you.
3. The fraud that there was Santa and that magic existed and a benevolent old man and elves and reindeers who, once per year, would pop down the chimney and leave you some modest gifts if you were especially well-behaved and ate all your veggies.
4. The fraud that there existed a God who made everything and who looked down from the sky everyday to see if you were good and if you weren’t he wrote it in a Big Book and one day, after you died, he would open the book and send you to heaven to sing hymns and fly about or, more likely, to hell where you would burn forever in inconceivable agony.
5. The fraud that war was a normal part of the world and that it solved problems and to be killed fighting for your country was a wonderful thing and was everyone’s patriotic duty and that, if you were killed, people would march once a year and give you lots of praise even if you couldn’t hear it or they didn’t mean it.
