Cross My Heart! Honestly!

Toad

Of course we want a Palestinian State…sometime!

Of course we’ll stop building settlements…eventually!

Of course we’ll regulate financial institutions and stock markets…soon!

Of course we’ll disarm…one day!

Of course we want equality…depends how you define it!

Of course we don’t want total world control…just enough!

Of course fossil fuels are bad…but we can’t lose jobs!

Of course we’re withdrawing…to our bases!

Of course we believe in human rights…well, some!

Of course you’ll live forever…if you believe in Him, Her or It!

Of course we represent you…in a general way!

Of course I’ll turn into Prince Charming…kiss me quick!

  1. Hi David, This piece sums up very well what hypocrisy our dear leaders acsend to, not only nationally but internationaly. Another could be “We all want peace….but on our terms”

I hope I’ve caused no insult to toads, Kemosobi!

Your suggestion is an excellent one.

  2. We all love babies while they’re in the womb,
they’re just damned inconvenient with the crying & stinky diapers once they’re born.

All drug addicts have a godgiven right to treatment. instead of incarceration………
just please not in my neighborhood, around my impressionable children.

I can’t speak for other nations, but I’d take almost any bet on USAn’s overwhelming dislike of children (even their own) except when they can be trotted out as a convenient excuse as noted in above paragraph.

It is pretty much the extreme religious right that loves babies in the womb but has no use for them once they are born other than to turn them into soldiers (cannon fodder) when they turn 18.

  3. Here in the US it is “Of course we will reform health care…just not the single payer that the majority of the people and doctors want”.

  4. Thanks for the comments. In Australia we have a very good public health care system and people carry private insurance if they can afford it and want more choice.

It’s funny how the U.S. is at one extreme of the welfare equation and the Scandinavian countries, which tax heavily but generously provide for their citizens until death, are at the other.

I don’t think too many Scandinavians would want to live under the American system of health care for the rich!

    I know I wouldn’t.
