Beauty And The Beasts!

Rose

This beautiful life form doesn’t:

1. Build nuclear weapons.

2. Have sex with its own progeny.

3. Drop phosphorous bombs on civilians.

4. Rape other men’s wives, sons and daughters.

5. Peddle evil, money-making,  superstitious fraud.

6. Consider itself to be superior to all other life forms.

7. Try to get more sunshine and water than others of its kind.

8. Poison and pollute and degrade its immediate or surrounding environment.

9. Plot and plan how it can gain control of the world and enforce its will upon every living thing.

10. Engage in cruelty, murder, genocide, torture, rendition, invasion, occupation, home demolition, enslavement, infidelity, sodomy, drug use, trafficking, slavery, etc.

BUT THE BEASTS DO!

As do I Coco. Their fragrant beauty contrasts dramatically with the vile ugliness of the ‘BEASTS.’

and unlike the ‘beasts’ (human and animal) they give themselves to us freely. until quite recently i didn’t know that roses are edible. i have now found my ‘elixir’ by way of rose petal sorbet. it’s the most exquisite thing i have ever tasted in my life. full of vitamin C. and even better because it came freely from my ‘beauties’…………..

Coco, my use of the word ‘BEASTS’ was restricted to humans!

Perhaps you could include your sorbet recipe so that others might share your delight.

and please don’t misunderstand when i call animals beasts. i follow a vegan regime and i’m only paraphrasing a term used by carnivores when i say ‘beasts’. (an animal under human control)

and here’s my recipe for rose petal sorbet:

first i have to point out that the first bloom is the best and to ascertain this, you have to pick a petal and taste it. it should be sweet and fragrant. and my roses have many petals. somewhat like a dog rose in appearance but with more petals. but i beleive any rose bush would be benficial it they taste pleasant.

1 cup of sugar (i use fructose and therefore not so much)
2 cups of water
1 whole head of rose petals
2 and half tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons vodka

in a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water till the sugar dissolves. add the rose petals and stir till mixture comes to a boil. reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes. remove from heat, cover and let stand for approx. 10 minutes.
place a fine strainer over a large bowl and pour syrup mixture through. add lemon juice and vodka to the strained mixture until thoroughly blended. (the vodka is the secret to a soft sorbet as it doesn’t freeze and keeps the sorbet somewhat soft and it doesn’t affect the taste) i also allow some of the boiled petals into the sorbet; makes for a rugged texture.

pour liquid into a freezer container, cover and place in freezer. when it is semi-solid, mash up with a fork and re-freeze again. when frozen, place in a food processor or blender and process until smooth. cover and re-freeze until serving time.

you can also use this same recipe for lavender flowers but only use one tablespoon of lavender as it’s a very strong flavour and has to be of culinary use. (i use the lavender flowers from my lavender plant which i’m not sure is culinary or not – but it hasn’t harmed me yet!!!!)

i also make sorbets of basil and lime and rosemary and orange and any other natural herbs and ingredients i think will go well together. but i always use fructose. i don’t use sugar. (for anything)

but for me the rose petal is the best………………

Coco, thank you for sharing. Sounds delicious! In the US most roses are imported from overseas and they do not smell anymore. I refuse to buy these roses. Often wonder, like David, whether humans as a species are not like a horrible mutation. Sure, nature can be very cruel, however, some humans add emotions like greed and hate to the mixture. It’s a lethal brew!

Shoot, the beasts are even dealing body parts out of New Jersey, if I’ve got the news reports right. I know Wayne Madsen has reported on missing homeless in DC, including some well-known homeless activists. I wonder where those parts come from. Don’t you?

I hope you are having not so bad a day, David.

OMG, the contrast is stomach churning! Between what Therese said about body parts dealing in NJ and missing Homeless Advocates. These people involved in this are Beasts! May they all rot in prison until they die.

..to the Beauties. Nature in its generosity. It gives us everything we need. We were given Heaven on earth. It is a symbiotic relationship. We care for nature and nature cares for the critters. It is a healthy, happy, well-fed world where there is room for everyone. In times of war and uncertainty, people over-procreate. In peaceful, educated times, people have fewer children and those children are educated and it is a better world.

I am so sick of war games for children!!!

What about learning to live in peace; Peace games? It takes intelligence and skill in the lost art of diplomacy, problem solving, logic, etc.

SOMEBODY.., wants our children to play lots of Wargames! It’s all there is on the shelves. You have to dig deep to find a boys game that doesn’t have to do with fighting. Even the Bakugan’s that my 7 year old and his class are into. They are modern day marbles, and their main objective is to Brawl. I can’t take much more. We have him play the most benign games we can find and put a two hour a day limit on all electronics. He has to deal with boredom, it is a developmental stage I would not want to deprive him of. Parents are so cruel. That’s why I told you I finally understood that song, ‘You have to be cruel to be kind’ : )

Coco, thanks for the recipe. I got interested when I saw the word ‘Vodka’.

Margit…humans a mutation, eh? What an interesting thought.

Therese, I’m having an alright day considering. Next Wednesday I see a specialist and get to hear my options none of which are especially attractive. Happy days!

Grace, currently the Beasts rule the world! Perhaps they always will.

Take care my friends. Eat, drink and be merry…

Margit, thanks. I put a lot of effort into image selection because I know the right image will have an impact, may even jolt some people into awareness about themselves and about the world they live in.

The gap between the way our sorry world is and the way it could be is immense! Hopefully more and more people will become aware of this and change things!

If only a fraction of the people cared as much about government corruption, as do you, David. But the apathy, or whatever, is so bad, that one gentleman blogger in my city, refers to us as “good government types”.

Re disease, dis ease, there is just so much we can do to protect our bodies. Re my family, none of the men in my family, from grandfathers, to uncles, to dad, even made it to 60 years of age. Neither did my grandmothers, and by sixty, my mom was starting to show signs of Alzheimers. I guess that is why I think life is such a gift after sixty.

Certainly one’s genetic inheritance plays a big part in longevity, Therese. My father lived until 89 but my mother died at 54 so I’m not sure where I fit in the gamble that life is. Cheers.
