Friends, in Australia at the moment we have constant headlines about a group sex incident which occurred some years ago when a nineteen year old woman took on a football team.
Now, I don’t know about you but the image that comes to my mind of a line of men queuing up to poke themselves into a single women and calling it a team bonding exercise is rather disgusting. I may be old-fashioned but I’m certainly no prude and have done things in the past of which I’m ashamed (though joining a queue wasn’t one of them).
One high profile football player who was part of the the orgy retired and turned to sports commentating. Subsequently, he has been pilloried and sacked from his television show. He and his wife have faced the cameras and twisted and turned with embarrassment. There are loud cries for the code to be cleansed of sleaze but, as yet, none of his team mates who took part in the ‘bonding exercise’ have come forward to express their guilt and contrition. So much for team bonding!
The situation that occurred is not unusual it seems according to rumours. If that is so then a queue of men and a supine woman is a fairly common occurrence behind closed doors. And of course there are ‘swingers parties’ where couples including married ones spend the night engaging in sex with multiple partners.
This raises interesting questions about human sexuality: about what is normal, what is moral and what is right? Or, at the other extreme, should anything go?

It’s all part of the charade!
Friends, the visit by the Pope to the Middle East is over. What the result will be remains to be seen but given that the intention of the exercise was to bring about reconciliation between Muslims, Jews and Christians, the early impact seems minimal.
To his credit the Pope did condemn the concrete security wall built by Israel and did call for the creation of a Palestinian State and did call for an end to violence in the region and did condemn the Holocaust (how many times must it be condemned?) but nothing seems to have changed. The reason?
The most obvious one is the fundamental difference between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. They are as alike as chalk and cheese and bricks. The Jews believe in Yahweh and don’t believe in Jesus or anything that is included in the New Testament. Anyone who is not a Jew is considered a gentile and both unworthy and inferior.
The Christians believe that Jesus was sent by God to save them, the same Jesus that was crucified at the urging of the Jews. Christians believe that only Jesus can ensure life ever after and that other religions are false and those who follow them miss out completely on the mysterious fantasy of heaven.
Muslims of course believe in Allah and that Mohammad was the prophet sent to ensure they got into heaven where many pleasure awaited them. They believe that non-Muslims are infidels! Given these vast differences and given that each of the religions is in competition with the others for converts and/or power and/or wealth, how can they reconcile their vastly conflicting theologies?
The answer is simple: they can’t!

Friends, Rahm Israel Emanuel is a Jewish man employed by Obama (as his Chief of Staff). As soon as they get the Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 passed, it will become a crime for any American to:
“Tell the truth about Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and theft of their lands.
It will be a crime for Christians to acknowledge the New Testament’s account of Jews demanding the crucifixion of Jesus.
It will be a crime to report the extraordinary influence of the Israel Lobby on the White House and Congress.
It will be a crime to doubt the Holocaust.
It will become a crime to note the disproportionate representation of Jews in the media, finance, and foreign policy.
In other words, it means the end of free speech, free inquiry, and the First Amendment to the Constitution. Any facts or truths that cast aspersion upon Israel will simply be banned.“
Friends, these worrying words were written by Paul Craig Roberts, a prominent American activist and writer. They appeared in Counterpunch and you can read the whole article at:
http://counterpunch.com/roberts05072009.html
Given that America applies its laws to all nations in the world it means that soon I won’t be able to say a word about Israel or Jews even if what I say is true.

Friends, the Pope has urged the religiously inclined to stick together otherwise the force that is religion could suffer.
On his tour through the holy lands, the Pontiff has been seeking reconciliation with Muslims. ” Religious divisions will bring us clerics undone,” he is reported as saying in a Mosque.
“If we are to continue to take people to the dry clean…er, heavenly glory, we can’t have them questioning what we say or asking how come we live in palaces and wear such fancy clothes or asking why are there are so many different religions with every single one of them claiming that they are the true one! Doubt is the enemy of all religions, I tell you. It must be stamped out!” he implored.

“A permit, eh? Now what would you like to tell us?”
Friends, Al Jazeera presents us with a startling story today, one that demonstrates just how pathetic humans can be. Briefly, according to the Israeli organization Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), Palestinian patients are increasingly being asked to make an impossible choice: Either to become collaborators (spies) with the Israeli intelligence apparatus – or to remain in Gaza without medical treatment.
According to Hadas Ziv, an Israeli and director of PHR, this choice is given to them as, desperately sick, they try to get a permit to leave Gaza to get better medical treatment either in the West Bank or another country. At the border they are taken to a room and interrogated by Israeli Security Forces for hours and given a stark choice: either collaborate with us or go back to Gaza (if you read the whole report you’ll become sickened like I did)!
The irony is, if they get the permit, they then become suspected collaborators which puts them and their Gaza families in danger and if they don’t, they probably die because there is inadequate medical treatment in Gaza because of the blockade and the damage caused to medical centres by the IDF, etc!
Now lest I be accused of being anti-Semitic, what is going on here I suppose is no worse than many of the barbaric things which happen daily in our world.

Friends, I wonder whether the world began to go downhill from the moment that God was generally accepted as being a solitary male.
Of course, in primitive times, God was not exclusively male. There were animal gods, male and female gods, a whole menagerie of weird and wonderful theological fantasies were created and devoutly worshiped. The very number of them kept people on their toes and stopped them fixating on one.
But slowly and surely we began the march towards the domination of one ‘Big Fella In The Sky’ who just happened to be male as were those who professed to know all about him and talk to him. The result? The main ‘Big Fellas’ today are God, Jehovah, and Allah and those who believe in him are the principal players in most of the wars that rage all over the world.
However, the Festival of the Hindu Goddess Durga reveals one of the older female gods which is still worshiped in parts of India. She is the one with all the arms who is having some paint applied to her anatomy.

Hillary regrets 100 Afghan civilian deaths which include children.
How many civilians have Americans killed since WW2? Millions?
How many ‘sorries’ have they offered? Hundreds?
When does ‘sorry’ become meaningless?
