Friends, in Australia at the moment we have constant headlines about a group sex incident which occurred some years ago when a nineteen year old woman took on a football team.
Now, I don’t know about you but the image that comes to my mind of a line of men queuing up to poke themselves into a single women and calling it a team bonding exercise is rather disgusting. I may be old-fashioned but I’m certainly no prude and have done things in the past of which I’m ashamed (though joining a queue wasn’t one of them).
One high profile football player who was part of the the orgy retired and turned to sports commentating. Subsequently, he has been pilloried and sacked from his television show. He and his wife have faced the cameras and twisted and turned with embarrassment. There are loud cries for the code to be cleansed of sleaze but, as yet, none of his team mates who took part in the ‘bonding exercise’ have come forward to express their guilt and contrition. So much for team bonding!
The situation that occurred is not unusual it seems according to rumours. If that is so then a queue of men and a supine woman is a fairly common occurrence behind closed doors. And of course there are ‘swingers parties’ where couples including married ones spend the night engaging in sex with multiple partners.
This raises interesting questions about human sexuality: about what is normal, what is moral and what is right? Or, at the other extreme, should anything go?
Now, as a farmer who raised cattle, the sight of a bull mounting a cow in season is not unusual. It is an event that is rather bestial as the two animals, driven by their hormones, are joined in a brief moment of passion. There is little technique involved and once it’s over the two stroll away and continue eating but soon they are at it again and continue while the cow remains in season. If there are two bulls, the dominant one will keep the other away if he can.
I guess the idea of a queue of bulls and group sex hasn’t occurred to bovines. This is because farmers mainly keep bulls apart because bulls together tend to fight and injure each other. With humans, things are obviously different! But are they?
The mechanics are basically the same even if humans are more inventive (some might say more deviant). The act of intercourse, reduced to its basics, is not a pretty sight. Penetration, thrusting, ejaculation, orgasm, it’s all predictable and it is carried out by most forms of life with little ceremony. But for humans, the act is not without its pleasures and variations, the sweet pain of orgasm being one of the joys of human existence.
However humans, not content with the basics, engage in all manner of strange variations and use electric devices and things like whips to add excitement to the act which most of the time is not about creating life and perpetuating the species but about sensual enjoyment.
Perhaps sex defines us, catches us with our pants down so to speak, reveals our true nature. Perhaps the concept of human nobility is false. Perhaps we are as greedy and animalistic about sex as any beast. Perhaps we too are primarily driven by our hormones and are no better that other four-footed creatures. Perhaps we just think we are.
Perhaps humans with their perverse minds have taken sex beyond the bounds of normality. Perhaps the queue of men and the solitary woman are normal and those who confine sex to marriage are actually abnormal!
I’ve been alive for many decades and I have no clear answer as to what human sexuality is or should be.

When I was a child and way before I’ve heard anything about Darwin, I thought the very same thoughts (where’s the difference to animals), at the same time ashamed and thinking I was probably the only one having such a ( ungodly) thoughts.
There’s a good reason that humanbeings tries to put this subject down at the agenda and personlly I think it’s going too far, in the western world, giving permission for people of the same sex to married etc..
Years ago a had a lovely (labrador – male) dog . though, the only things it had on it’s mind was ? guess – female dogs. – and that is way we’re here David.
Thinking about it, – we – all , here today, a product of billions of years of evolution. – fantastic.
Man should keep his noose or/and fingers off this marvellous ‘works of a clock’ mekanism. or it’ll probably end in disater if not already fiddled too much with.

“Does sex reveal us?” Yes. I personally think that if a person acts authentically on their genuine feelings they would discover themselves more completely. It may be the answer to ones prayers or ones worst nightmare, but it will be the truth.
The body gets dragged around by the mind and social pressures. It however, has a mind and memory of its own. Even if you choose to forget, your body was there and knows the truth. I worked for at least 10 years helping bodies with massage and natural therapies in upscale spas and a treasure trove of information is what people store in their bodies.
Yeah, so much for team building there, in the story above!

i believe that some animals (dolphins, pigs and monkeys) have sex purely as a physical pleasure too. so i don’t think we are alone on that score. however, they don’t seem to go in for the ‘accoutrements’ such as whips etc…….
and wasn’t there a bit of perversion in sodom and gormorrah??????????

Folks, there have been some very interesting responses to this post and I thank you for them. But I’m no closer to working out what human sexuality is or should be. Someone out there must have a clear perception, must be able to point me in the right direction.
Or are we an enigma, a species for all seasons, a riddle or just a pest?

David, there is no enigma here, no hidden secrets, the sex thing is based on a load of lies, unfortunately, mostly told by men.Frankly I get sick to death of the whole charade, the game that sex is.Of course we hide behind the white picket fence of nicety and then when a women comes on the scene, where is my club?
The truth of the matter is, men are animals when it comes to pleasures of the flesh. They will tell the most outrageous lies, steal, bash their mates,and walk over broken glass, for pleasures of the flesh.Most men that have not been at least tempted to take what he craves by force, is a liar.When they hear those imaginary keys turning in the lock of their cell, “Pause” No better not.Of course this is not right, but it is the reality, and I am one of those boring happily married men that is in the minority.I am married to a wonderful women who has her own club wink wink nudge nudge say no more.(She doesn’t use a computer I’m safe)
Most people who condemn this behavior do so after having peeped through the keyhole of a bedroom door, with ears keenly locked in to the sounds of the eroticism they all crave, but are disgusted by there own feelings of lust…How many men have heard that old line ‘I wouldn’t touch her with a barge pole”? Yea sure you wont mate,but you would kill me in the rush to have sex with her though.
But if they took what they wanted by force, I would have them horsewhipped.

Phill, you always tell it as it is though the picture you paint is somewhat dark! It does explain though why in war the raping of women and girls is so prevalent.
Of course, these day, the raping of males is probably also on the menu for some! Nobility and humans seems to be a contradiction.

Telling it like it is David, is the only way to tell it. There are two things that I can’t stand in this ere world, and hypocrisy is both of them.As you would know, life’s experience and a bit of common dog is all that is necessary to see the world and all it’s faults.I don’t need a PhD in sexual studies, what ever the hell that would include, to debunk what I have seen with my own mince pies.Of course the most guilty are the ones as old Shakespeare would say “Me thinks you protesteth to much” or something like that.I can’t be bothered getting out me Shakespeare.
It’s the little things that scream out to you that give you an example of humans gross stupidity.A certain footballer whose name shall remain secret, was in a world of trouble with drugs.”Ah but for the grace of God go I”.The real culprits were the crowd at a game holding up placards telling the world how strong his character was, and they were behind all the way yada,yada,yada.Moreover this certain individual, wouldn’t take a leak on somebody if they were on fire.

I too try to tell it as it is, Phill. The only problem is, as time goes by, I’m less sure what it is!
Perhaps nature has planned things that way: keep us guessing for most of our lives and just when we realize that nothing makes any sense, we die!

The laugh will always be on the mavericks mate that is the way of it.At the risk of sounding like a smarmy smart arse I new the world was bent since I was twelve.In primary school Adelaide there was this teacher called Mr Champion, he is probably dead now God rest his soul. Anyway by today’s politically correct standards, he would probably have been fired, he was a pilot in WW2 no dummy, and a never ending source of information on the workings of the world.
He was telling the kids then, well the kids in his class the lay of the land, and everything I read on this blog by your good self, is a reminder of my education.So I guess there must be about fifty adults out there that think like me, and indeed you.

It’s an interesting thought that humans have an inbuilt mechanism for judging what is right and what is wrong given some of the horrific events that have occurred in human history!
Therese, it gives the saying: Make Love Not War a whole new meaning! If the folk in Sri Lanka had just met up at a large stadium and had a three or four day group orgy perhaps many lives would have been saved (and many more would have been created)!
You realize this idea puts you in line for the Nobel Peace Prize, don’t you?

Might be wrong but didn’t the Vikings engage in a similar “sexercise”, however, the female was a slave girl and she was killed (probably to honor some Norse god). Anyway, read that somewhere years ago, so no source to confirm it. Maybe there is some male bonding going on, weeks and weeks on small ships, so they needed a reminder that they were heterosexuals. Used to be that soldiers shared prostitutes (sure it still happens) but I was told that it’s usually an excuse for in the closet homosexual men….American football team – makes a lot of sense to me…one way of “fighting” the demons!

I have always felt that if you are an adault and your partner is too you should be able to have sex any way you want as long as you both consent to what is happening.
The only problem I have is with consent; if, for instance, you have been abused as a child and that has harmed you emotionaly can you really consent in a healthy way to sex or are your responses twisted by the abuse.
There are, I am sure, many other ways that consent is not free.
It seems that the more intellegent we have become as a species the more confusing and difficult everything has become.

I’ve been alive for many decades and I have no clear answer as to what human sexuality is or should be.
Is there a definitive answer .. errr, no.
But think on this; no sex = no life. Distilled to its essence, procreation is the primary purpose of all living things. However, it depends on which group/tribe/society that humans are born into and indoctrinated by – that governs attitudes toward sex and sexuality.
