“The U.S. Will Not Accept…!”

Friends, Robert Gates, Defense Secretary for the Obama Administration, has stated that: “We (the U.S.) will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state.”

Wot?

OPEN LETTER TO ROBERT GATES.

Dear Robert,

excuse me for writing to you but has someone mentioned to you that North Korea not only has nuclear weapons but it also has ballistic missiles that can travel vast distances?

Has someone tried to tell you that you are acting rather like King Canute trying to tell the tide to stop rising? Robert, North Korea is a nuclear power whether you accept it or not!

Don’t you realize that continually threatening North Korea and trying to impose even more sanctions on it is counterproductive and increases further the hardships of its people and their fear of and hatred for imperialist America?

Don’t you realize that invading and occupying other nations and using torture and drones, etc, gives your nation a bad look, makes it appear to be rather war-loving, rather bullying, rather greedy, rather parasitic, rather evil?

Thy Name Is Hypocrisy!

“Psssst…Abbas. Look serious! The sheeple are watching!”

Friends, the photograph above, to me, represents the epitome of hypocrisy. The two figures shown graphically illustrate what is wrong in the Middle East and what is wrong with our world. Why so, you ask?

Let’s take the figure on the right. He represents a Superpower that supposedly symbolizes democracy, but one that has, for decades, been arming and supporting a tiny Middle Eastern country which has used brutal military force to occupy land belonging to another people. These other people, called Palestinians, soon after WW2 finished, awoke one day to find that distant powers had given their land to a group of people called Jews who were relevant to the region over two thousand years ago.

Not content with being given the land, the Jews, aided by their friendly superpower, set up a powerful army which terrorized the inhabitants in their portion and began to systematically steal the land surrounding their portion. They built settlements, concrete walls, demolished Palestinians buildings and farms, built checkpoints, engaged in massacres and collective punishment, imprisoned Palestinians without trial, stole Palestinian taxes, starved them, kept them in poverty, etc.

The Superpower, not content with vetoing all U.N. Resolutions which criticized the Jewish Nation, has, while pretending to support a Palestinian State, engaged in a duplicitous, deliberate policy of thwarting any possibility of the Palestinians gaining their own land thereby allowing the Jewish State to consolidate its hold on land which isn’t theirs and further displace and diminish those Palestinians within its own borders. For decades, negotiations have been continuing with not a single result. While it participated in this charade of being an honest broker, the Superpower has also engaged in various imperial invasions and occupations of its own around the world.

Thus, a country of people were robbed of their land and their birthright without compensation. Many were forced to flee and have spent their whole lives in impoverished refugee camps all around the Middle East.

Is Life Itself The Greatest Fraud?

“Oh, Darling, won’t having children be lovely?”

Friends, if you have read my blog over a period of time you’ll know that often I have claimed that religion is the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on mankind.

This morning I was struck by the thought that I may be wrong! Perhaps for humans, life itself is the greatest fraud of all. How so, you ask?

Well, let me present you with this scenario. We, each one of us are born. It is not a glorious or dignified entrance into the world. We already have various genetic positives and negatives and the environment we are born into has pluses and minuses. We might be born into a tribe of hunters and gatherers in Africa or we might be born into a wealthy family who puts down our name for Harvard the day after our birth.

Slowly we grow and progress from reading fairy tales to, as life begins to belt us around, slowly learning that not all of life is going to be filled with romantic dreams and happily-ever-afters. But filled with youth and immaturity, we put aside our misgivings and, clinging to most of our dreams, we throw ourselves into the competition that life is.

We fall in love several times, get badly hurt, get drunk, try drugs,  try religion, gradually achieve some qualifications and perhaps get married. Valiantly, we try to follow the script we have been given: get promotion, secure a mortgage and, if we follow our urgings, a child may come along, perhaps two or more.

We then enter the parenthood stage and watch anxiously over our brood, take pictures of each one, worry over their progress, feel fear that they might be harmed or die or not do well at school. Gradually, in spite of us, they grow up and before we know it they’ve flown from the nest and they too are trying to fulfill their dreams.

Is The U.S. A Paper Tiger?

Friends, following the visit by Netanyahu to the White House, several things are obvious. First of them is that Israel will do as it wishes regardless of America’s urgings and demands. How so, you ask?

Despite America’s admonitions, settlement building continues apace in the West Bank and east Jerusalem while the Israelis go through their charade of demolishing a few outposts in the West Bank which are rebuilt as quickly as they were pulled down.

Israel has agreed to let the U.S. know if it is going to nuke Iran. That’s extremely generous of them but necessary so that its air force can overfly various countries including American-controlled Iraq.

The Israeli Foreign Minister has said that Israel will not return to the 1967 borders. That has made the Palestinians hopping mad although it shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Israel continues to pretend to move towards a two-state solution while it does everything in its power to avoid such a possibility (much as it’s been doing for decades).

Israel still has Gaza under total blockade and it still continues to bomb Gaza at will and refuses to allow building materials into the Gaza strip.

Given these facts, one could ask the question whether or not America, which is supposed to be the world’s major superpower, has any power at all.

Friends, I admit to being a bit of a fan of singing competitions and a bit of a musician. Though it’s nauseatingly glitzy, American Idol is a show that I’ve been following for the last few months and the winner was announced last night.

However the winner wasn’t the winner! Chris Allan, a nice wholesome Christian boy, following the counting of nearly 100 million votes, won the competition and Adam Lambert (shown above courtesy of Reuters) was placed second.

Now to me, Adam shone all through the competition. He is a mega-star. Chris Allan struggled throughout but somehow managed to lift his game periodically, at least enough to cling onto a place. But when his name was announced I couldn’t believe it. And neither could most of the judges!

Now I’ve been looking around the internet a bit this morning and I found out something that we here in Australia didn’t know. It seems that in America, rumours have been rife for months that Adam Lambert may be gay! Shock. Horror. Lambert hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumours but the battle lines were drawn.

Don’t Monkey With Us!

Friends, while the world is agog with wonder at the fossil Darwinius Masillae discovered in the Messel Pit in Germany and what it might mean for the Theory of Evolution as espoused by Charles Darwin, Rabbi Israel Forever Lieberman has issued a strong warning to worshipers in the Holy Tabernacle Synagogue in Tel Aviv.

“Children of God,” he cried passionately, “this discovery may have implications for the world’s unfortunate Gentiles but it has nothing to do with us Jewish people who were specially created by God and have kept their holy genetic inheritance intact by selective begetting. Our superior difference is easily discerned. We ain’t no knuckle-draggers, Oi!”

The Pope, as if an echo, has issued a strong indictment of the harmless fossil. “My children,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion as he held Mass in the Vatican, “those who claim that we derived from primates are devil-worshipers, may God forgive them and burn them forever in Hell. We Christians were made by God for his glory so we could find salvation through Jesus who the misguided Jews helped to crucify, may they be forgiven though it is unlikely.”

In America, the Pastor of the Advanced Holy Rollers, Jeol Pasternak, said in a spirited sermon, “My faithful flock, please pray for these scientists who are blinded by Satan. In your prayers, ask that the Holy Spirit visit them, late at night if possible, and show them the errors of their ways using enhanced interrogation if necessary. Why, if they came here, I, Jeol Pasternak, would lay my hands upon them and heal them, put them on the only path to righteousness. Ours. I would lay my hands on Jews and Catholics too if I got a chance! But not Muslims.” His congregation called out loud ‘Hallelujahs’ and began to talk in tongues while some danced.
