Scruples sounds like a snack we should all be partaking of during a football game. Unscrupulous must be like seven-up, the uncola. Scruples must be hard to swallow, because the unscrupulous seem to be fairing far better.

VR2, America, like many countries, lives in an environment of lies and deceptions. The lies are invented by unscrupulous people to exploit and manipulate the masses.

Whether by corporations or religions or politicians, etc, the lie factory works non-stop!

I must be in a cantankerous mood today. Concerning Demonstorms curiousity about what good patriotic christians would do in this country if exposed to the same treachery that they export around the world, on a daily basis, there is no doubt in my mind that they would prove quite capable of any cowardly act to save their own sorry asses. Isn’t that what’s all ready being done, simply to ensure “quality of life” issues for themselves, to the exclusion of all others?

I strongly disagree with Jeannie concerning how blessed her children and grand children are to be living in the US. If preserving their innocence, as in lying constantly to them from the moment of birth, keeping the truth out of their realm of experience, is a blessing, wouldn’t they be better served, doubly blessed, with truth and understanding? I believe children, those not in survival mode, are hungry for the truth and deserve more than a well prepared plate of lies. I’ve rarely experienced hunger, never starvation, so one might say I know not of what I speak, but I can say unequivocally that for me the thirst for the unvarnished truth, no matter how painful to swallow, will not be quenched in the short span of a lifetime, especially here in the good ol’ US of A.

Jeannie, if we could preserve the innocence we would create a new race of humans. Why do we destroy it?

Demon, the points you’ve made mirror my own position perfectly. Unfortunately, with humans, it is foolish to think that logic or morality might prevail.

It is most likely a staged photo (how many 7 year olds can understand the complexities of the Israeli-Palestianian problem?), but yet it is quite poignant in its message nonetheless. The never-ending atrocities that Israel commits against the Palestinians just goes on and on and on..ad infinitum. And with the latest revelations that war crimes and human rights violations have been so horrendously commited so blatantly for all the world to see – confirming what so many of us have long known about Israel – yet the world does nothing. Israel continues to sit on its stockpile of illegal and un-declared nuclear weapons, it continues to persecute and kill thousands of innocent Palestineans, to violate the Geneva Conventions and multiple UN Resolutions by its never-ending encroachment on Palestinean lands, etc, etc, etc. And all we hear is “poor Israel, they are just defending themselves; after all, Hamas fired 6 rockets into the Israel desert last month.”

Has it never occurred to the rest of the “civilized” world that Palestine – and, yes, even Hamas – has the right to fight back against the oppression and occupation of Israel? I wonder how many good patriotic “Christian” Americans would sit idly by and do nothing if another country came here and invaded their homes, killed their offspring, made them into prisoners, and treated them as sub-human?

So often when I see or read the news I think about how blessed my children and grand children are to be living here in the US and not in many other countries of the world. Yes, there are many many problems here, especially now, but compared to what children in so many countries endure every day they lead a wonderfully safe and free life.
I just wish there where a way to make the rest of the children as safe.
I look at my grandson thankful he is living such a good life and then think of all the children like him here and all over the world who do not have his blessings. Just the thoought makes me sick and angry.
No matter what small things I can do to help other children the problem remains overwhelming.
And like you said when they grow up so many of these children will becoming part of the problem. That to me is one of the saddest parts.

John and Ken, most children are so beautiful, so lovable. How come so many of them turn into despicable adults like GWB, Howard, Blair and Netanyahu, etc? Garbage in – garbage out?
