Is Israel Jewish?

The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse.
Friends, quite often there is a great deal of argument about whether or not saying something negative about Israel and its treatment of the Palestinians is anti-Semitic. I thought I’d clear the matter up!
Israel claims it is a secular nation but a video message from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which conveyed his blessing on the 61st Day of Independence, says a few things that seem to blur the lines between the so-called ‘secular’ state and the religion which is followed by those Jews who live in Israel and those who support it so generously. Consider the following:
“The sharp transition between the silence of memorial day and the joy of independence day is not simple, but precisely at this clear moment, the full meaning of the existence of the state of Israel becomes apparent, the dream of generations of our people, the safe haven for which we have prayed and hoped, for generations upon generations of Jews.”
“I want to congratulate you, Israel’s citizens, on this day for the victory of our collective dream, a victory of the spirit, a victory of faith, a victory of persistence, hope and work. Thanks to all these, we have surmounted enormous obstacles. We rose from the depths of death and ovens; we came together from west and east and embarked on a path to life and resurrection. We revived our ancient language, we took the Hebrew language from the scriptures and brought it into our daily lives, our schools, our universities, our culture and science, and we also never forgot the scriptures,” Netanyahu enthused.
Now, I don’t know about you but these two paragraphs from the Prime Minister suggest to me that Israel is clearly not a purely secular nation. Perhaps it’s better described as a quasi-theocracy given the influence of the Jewish religion over every aspect of its life, indeed its rationale. Israel is Jewish! The two things are inseparable. But there’s more!
“Unfortunately, Israel remains under threat,” the prime minister cautioned. “An Iranian regime that is feverishly pursuing nuclear weapons brazenly calls for our destruction. Terror organizations on our southern and northern borders grow stronger by the day.”
So there you have it. In Israel, we have a large group of Jewish religious fanatics who are nuclear-armed and have the very latest, most sophisticated weapons that America can provide. These fanatics are determined to continue on with their exclusive path to ‘life and resurrection’ regardless of the outcome for their neighbours or the hapless Palestinians whose land they stole.
I wonder how long Benny will wait before he, an Israeli Jew, attacks Iran? Given that Obama is talking about a two-State solution (which is certainly not on Benny’s racist agenda), I suspect it won’t be long.
Am I anti-Semitic? No. I am against all religions because they are divisive and fraudulent.
Do I deplore what the Jewish State of Israel has done, is doing, and is likely to do in the future to ensure it remains the region’s most militarily powerful nation?
YES!

Hey David,
I also agree that Israel is a Jewish state . And considering what Israel is doing and planning right now, somebody better stop them before the entire world becomes Israel !!!

Irfaan, fanatics of any kind are dangerous. Religious fanatics are particularly dangerous because they are incapable of thinking clearly. Religious fanatics who have nuclear arms are a complete danger to themselves and the whole world!

What is denoting to a ‘movement’ who do NOT have a clear conscience is, they have a habit to hide behind a GOD, , a belief, who may bear the blame for the ‘bad (criminal) behavior’ e.g. GWBush on Iraq.
What I know about a jewish ortodox – isn’t much – but I do know that [Yigal Amir (watch Widipedia] killed Yitzhak Rabin, the Israelly prime minister, (1995) when he sincerely tryed to make a peace with Arafat.
The image I have of a ortodox jews, is that they behave a kind of mad / insane, like rocking … back and forth ,,, ,an infinite number of times . If you didn’t know, you would believe they were hospitalized because of a disease of the brain, or something.
More dangerous is if a ‘Christian Zionist’ is on duty (keepering the nuclear button) because some of those people believe that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, is in accordance with Biblical prophecy.” (Second Coming Of Christ).
The borderline between peace, death and destruction is scaringly unsecure.

The US continues to support the religious fanatics in Israel while demanding that religious fanatics in Iran shut down a legal nuclear enrichment program.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that it makes no sense at all.
How can people not see that nuclear weapons will sooner or latter lead to a war that really will end all wars?
Better yet we need to get rid of ALL things nuclear. It is a power way too dangerous for flawed humans to be playing with. Of course, that will never happen. Those of us who oppose the insanity will be destroyed along with the madmen who are creating this mess.
I read once that when scientists tested the first nuclear weapon they were concerned that it might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world.
They wented ahead and did it anyway! That is insane!!!
The true beleivers probably think that god will save them and let the rest of humanity that they, the beleivers, don’t like die.
Problem is we must all die to prove them wrong.

John and Jeannie, most of the world seems oblivious to the grave threat posed by Israel. It’s because people can’t see the connection between religious fanaticism and insanity.
The Israeli Jews will do whatever it takes to achieve their deluded racist ambitions. You only have to look at what they’ve been doing to the Palestinians since 1947 to see they have no scruples at all!

The Prime Minister’s speech reminded me so much of Catholic School. When you are in C.S. There is nearly no aspect of your life, minute of your day that isn’t influenced by the Church’s expectations of you.
“..the influence of the Jewish religion over every aspect of its life.”
Israel is Jewish no matter how their version of Democracy has included those of other races who wish to live in Israel. Just like the Church tolerates “others.”

The Catholic Church and Israel have so very much in common. What would the Pope do if He had a Nuclear Weapon? We know what Jesus would do. Fortunately, The Vatican isn’t surrounded by infidels lobbing rockets at their back wall. I guess the Pope is silent on these issues since he can’t relate.

Grace, the Pope has no need to have nuclear weapons. His strength is the ignorance and gullibility of most of the human race. That is part of Israel’s strength also!

An interesting comment, Jeff! Memorials are always erected by the victors and those they kill are quickly and deliberately forgotten.

You are a curious example of the fact that one can be feverishly anti-Semitic while being an atheist. Singling Israel out and holding it to a higher moral standard than any other nation in the world amounts to anti-Semitism. Sorry for bringing that obvious observation to your attention.

And, Jake, you are a curious example of someone who is morally bankrupt because you obviously support Israel’s genocide and brutality against the Palestinians to say nothing of their land stealing, shooting of Palestinian children, use of phosphorous munitions, cluster bombs, collective punishment, starvation, etc.

I believe that being an anti-Semitic, or racist, or anything like that is so immoral that a person carrying such beliefs cannot credibly assess the moral levels of other people.
Sorry, David, take care of yourself first.

I’m too busy standing up for the downtrodden Palestinians to worry about myself, Jake!

I wish Jake would explain to me why each Israeli is allotted 4 x the amount of water that is allotted to a Palestinian.
While the zionists have lush green lawns, swimming pools, communal baths and fountains, the Palestinians are required to parcel out every drop.
One of the main targets in the recent Gazan assault were the rooftop reservoirs Palestinians erect to catch rain water.
I suppose Jake will brand me an anti semite because I cannot discover a single reason why those who live in Palestine cannot apportion water out in a more equitable way.
This seems to be a racist, mean spirited criminal act, maybe Jake could explain it to me?

I think those of us who are not religious can see things in a different way than others. The U.S.
gov. gives much money to both sides the palestinians and Israel. You must admit Israel uses their money more wisely than the palestinians. We should actually be giving the money to our
own peoples use, we have many poor, people who need help in our own country. I think the
palestinians should dig wells or whatever and get their own water, why do you think Israel should
get their water for them?? I thought they were all suppose to live in Jordan, which was set up for them to be in long ago. I remember one time we didnot send the check for a month to the palestenians for some reason and they had to close their schools because they rely on us so much, and the other gov.`s that give to them, and what do we get in return, things like kill americans, they are always ranting about our country, we should tell them don`t say anything bad about us, or your lies, or you will get nothing. Is that cruel or just reality. We put up with
too much. I think all palestenians should be put in one area, and have a country of their own, but they will not cooperate. Thousands of years ago they were all related to each other anyway, and look at their languages, so close, the way they write, many even look alike, the ones
not influenced by being european for a few centuries. I am going soon to Israel, I will see for
myself how things are. Maybe I will have a different opinion then, maybe not. Nancy
