Friends, the swine flu epidemic, which may end up as a pandemic, has brought the ghouls out of their lairs.
Yes, shares in companies which make anti-viral drugs have soared as the financial ghouls of the world seek to capitalize on the possibility that the world might be plunged into a catastrophe which could kill millions. And shares in tourist-oriented businesses have plunged as travel becomes more hazardous. Yes the ghouls are getting out of airline shares as fast as they can. “Go viral,” they shout as they vote with their wallets.
Not being a ghoul, I find it difficult to imagine what goes on the minds of humans who seek to make money out of the deaths of other people. Let me think. What else might be profitable? Mmmmmm. What about coffin makers? Now there could be a growth industry. What about grave headstones? That could well be a goer. What about hearses? Car manufacturers who make such things could make a motza. They might even designed hearses that hold more than one person and offer discounted rates. What about opening up a chain of cemetaries with a section for mass graves?
No more of this. It’s too depressing!
Surely the fact that people around the world sit like vultures waiting for catastrophes to occur so they can get in and make a quick dollar is a reflection on the sorry state of our world, on its lack of values, on its greed.
Of course it’s not only pandemics that are a target but war as well. You can imagine how many ghouls applaud when another war begins and the armament and munition manufacturers and their shareholders enjoy another financial bonanza based on death. And those who engage in metal mining go along for the ride.
And what about the pharmaceutical companies? Things like aids have provided them with many financial blessing along with malaria, diphtheria, etc.
I find it difficult to express my profound contempt for the ghouls of this world. Surely they must be the most despicable people on earth along with most politicians, bankers, financiers, insurance brokers, militarists, religious fanatics, corporate bosses…
Yuk!
at this point in time, it’s hard to imagine where this scenario will end. (or where it really began)
but in the vast space of the universe, it’s somewhat inconsequential…………….
as is our own little ‘universe’……………..

Coco, the human condition is ever precarious and mortal. Ghouls add nothing to the credit side of the ledger!

The revolt of mother Earth has started David.Don’t get me wrong this has nothing to do with religion, I said a few weeks ago I felt it in my bones something is about to go down and it is starting. The fools that run the world have been caught out, their exploitation is in a downward spiral.
As an aside did you see the Professor on the 7.30 report A.B.C. last night ref global warming? didn’t catch it all, but the said Professor has written a whole book on how all the worlds scientists are all wrong and he is right. Of course the very astute Tony Jones who does his homework tore him to shreds. You could tell from the mans body language he had all the sincerity of a G.W. Bush no matter.
My point! This is the type of num nut that gets the right wing fringe groups their so called respectability. ” Ah it’s all a communist plot ” and the destruction goes on.
I despair.

Certainly the rape and pillage brigade has a lot to answer for, Phill.
This swine flu thing is a bit ironic, really. Possibly wouldn’t have happened if America had spent more money on helping lift Mexico instead of arming itself to the teeth!

I read a while back that in the flu of 1918-20 that while the most who died where young adults and that is what is happening with the swine flu it is also true that the vast majority who died lived in poor countries where most of the people were unable to afford quality food and were unable, due to poor overall health, to fight off the disease. Even in this country it struck the poor the hardest.
That so many have died in Mexico would make sense since so many have too little money to buy healthy food.
Why do we assume that someone who is young is healthy? So many people in rich countries, eat junk. Food with no value topped off with endless can of soda while millions in poor countries starve without access to the food they need. Even here in the rich US too many have not enough to eat.
The ghouls sell us the junk food that leaves us vulnerable to disease and then sell us drugs to cure the disease. They make money coming and going.
People need to wake up and stop buying their garbage!
I try my best to eat healthy and am trying to make sure my grandson learns from babyhood on how to eat wholesome healthy food.
I had to learn as an adult how to eat healthy since I grew up on white bread and rich desserts and soda. It took effort to learn to like whole grains fresh fruit and veggies.

Jeannie, feeding your grandson healthy foods is one of the greatest gifts you can give to him. My mother was a “health food nut,” back in the day. She used to get alot of grief for her determination. As an adult, I credit the foundation of solid good foods for giving me the physical strength to endure way too many crisis’ and sickness. i do the same for my son. I am shocked at what parents give their kids sometimes.
Ghouls is what “they” are. You can group “them” together as you have done, David, and rightly so, they all belong in the same class. Bottom feeders, who thrive on the misfortunes of the people.
My first thought when I heard of this flu, was that it was created in a laboratory. Released by sociopath deciders. Hearing the shocking news was like a crime scene with the guilty party right there listening in the way a (identity still unknown)murderer often arrives at the scene to “help.” Then basks in the glow if his handiwork. That is how I feel about this terrible misfortune afflicting most conveniently the young and middle age workers from places like Mexico, where the ghouls are trying to create a Darwinian survival of the fittest immigration program; IOW, the desperate and ones brave enough to cross a desert and jump a fence or swim across thte Rio Grande are the ones getting hit. Then, there are all those Africans on that still rich land, what to do? They will get the disease too and it will hit them hard!

Phill, my senses tell me something is brewing, just don’t know what. Kinda like the sailors on the Titanic who could smell the ice, long before they saw it and crashed.

Yes Grace so do mine. There is something brewing my dear old mum who is still alive reckons the atmosphere is akin to what was felt just before WW2.We are due for a fall anyways, we have in the west that is, had a false sense of the good life for two long. You don’t have to be a Rhodes scholar or an economist to work out, for capitalism to succeed you need never ending growth and in today’s climate this is impossible.
If you have been watching Fox or their business channel of late, you can tell from the whole tenor of the programs, they have been sprung their game is up.They are going to ridiculous levels of insincere rubbish to convince people to just hold on, it will turn out good in the end, Wall St will save us if we just let them bleed the government and that’s us, for a little while longer. It has all the makings of a Greek tragedy.
An interesting few months ahead me thinks.

No suprises. Corporate raised swine, crowded together in unsanitary conditions to improve profits, result in a new strain of flu. The human population, also over crowded and encouraged by corporate advertising to take vacations all over the world, spreads the flu virus far and wide. Now investors will flock to the drug companies for more profits.
Most people don’t question the pursuit of money, with ever more growth as a goal. Very few bother to make a moral connection between their investments and what the companies are doing to make profits.
