"Argue not with fools, frauds, fops, and fanatics. Seek instead better companions." ——– "Any man who tries to change the world is either a fool or a dreamer. Some men are both! Pity them because the world reviles them!"
Crazy folks have known that for ages. We call them insane but in reality, their sanity just got the best of them. It’s the rest of us hanging on, clawing and scratching, trying to manage the chaos that are truly insane. Does that make any sense David or are my thoughts just going around in circles?
Involving oneself with the insanity of our modern world and trying to do something about it is certainly not a recipe for peace, VR2.
Sometimes, after skimming the headlines each morning, I think that living alone in a cave or perhaps in a isolated Buddhist temple might be a better solution.
Hi David
Been a while since I commented, but what has happened to your site, you have gone from offering insightful topics to posting a picture and a small paragraph and then seeking comment.
Have you never heard that a picture (well chosen) is worth a 1,000 words, Kemosobi? As well, some images force the viewer to respond, to think, rather than me imposing my thoughts upon them.
Yes David, I have heard that (theres no need to be condescending), and have never thought of you imposing your thoughts on me, and besides for people to come to this site they are either interested in your thoughts and views and not your pics.
Ooh, David! Great response! I feel myself settling into this neo-human thing. I’m creating when I used to think I was not creative. I’m on the verge of farming, and I’m not a farmer. I’m a non-believer and I’m believing. I believe we have HP and hp. Hewlitt Packard and human potential. I’m betting on human potential. We can dream dreams, or we can make miracles. Our choice! There is no God, Buddha, Muhammed or Messiah. There is only us! Each other AND the present moment. No past, no future, just now! Go with what you got!
I think your degree of peace is equal to the amount of influence you permit the world to place upon you. We are, for now, temporal beings, trapped in this material world, there’s no denying that. And the world is frequently an ugly, horrid place full of evil events. What I’ve learned to do is “step slightly sideways” from the normal emotional reaction to the insanity, let it pass through me, but not impact me. I don’t resist it, just let it flow past. I observe it, note it’s contents, almost like watching a movie, but refuse to allow myself to emotionally attach to it. I just observe it, but don’t fuel it or become engulfed by it. That maintains my sense of balance, and the degree of “peace” I’ve been able to find. Not sure if that answers the broad question, but it works for me…
Kemosobi, this blog is not like a restaurant. I don’t produce ‘a la carte’ posts!
VR2, glad you’re finding something useful from my blog. Go forth and multiply!
Coyote, each person must walk their own path, make their own arrangements. Your ‘sideways step’ I’m sure will interest many folk who are looking for peace.
I don’t know how not to get emotionally attatched. Not only just for myself but for those that I love like my grandson. He is only 3 and I cannot just step aside and watch what is happening because he will have many years in which he will have to deal with and be engulfed by what is happening in the world today.
Seek peace however you can; renew yourself and then get back in the fight for a better world. True eternal peace probably only does come with death.

To create a better world, we need to see what a mess this one is. That is the first step. Cheers.
