“Come on, Sweetie. Off to childcare you go. Mummy has to pay

for her BMW! Daddy has to pay for his Porsche!”

  1. I have been giving a lot of thought to taxes recently. I think sales taxes are the best, as long as there are exceptions for necessities like food, medicine, and the labor on car repairs, and home repairs. Why these labor exceptions. Because once upon a time life was simple enough that everything that needed to be done could be done by an extended family or a few families living together in a small settlement. I guess another way to say it is should a mother have to pay taxes every time she gets her mother in law in come and baby sit. Anyone can baby sit but not anyone can not be a plumber. So a family be penalized just because there is no plumber in the family? I hope not.
The more i hear about corruption and gross negligence in the banking industry the more I change my mind on property taxes. At this moment I think that all property over lets say 5 million dollars should be taxed at 100%. Trusts should be outlawed. People under 18, who are still dependents, would have a much lower threshold for 100% taxation.
Of course people who have more will say that they earned and that they deserve it. Right now I do not feel very sympathetic towards this claim. Inheritances should be taxed too. A problem is that money can be given away before a person dies. But since a persons net worth could not exceed 5 million great fortunes will be eliminated anyways.
Income over a million or perhaps 500,000 per year should be taxed at 100% too. Lottery winnings could perhaps be an exception because they are a government enterprise. To offer a prize and then take part of that prize away is a type of fraud. Of course the leadership of this corrupt system should be taxed back to the stone age before they go to prison.
If the rich do not like it let them flee to Russia or China or Germany or Vietnam or Venezuela.

  2. You know that woman who was impregnated in vitro with 8 eggs and now is single with 8 newborns in addition to the 5! kids she already had? In all those interviews – she is not there with her babies. Those little creatures that want nothing more than to feel their mother near and hear and feel her reassurances. The media call her Octo-Mom, she is representative of the sickness of having children to fill the empty hole in a person’s life. Each baby is a living, breathing, needy thing. Short of tragedy, why bring any child into the world and not be with it? All this talk about “family values” when we had our kid you find out you are on your own. Other countries than American are far more enlightened. America in general is a rough place for kids unless your parents are set.

  3. Sadly too many children are off to childcare not because the parents want fancy new cars, but rather just to pay for the necessary things in life. I take care of my grandson because both parents must work. My daughter’s car is 15 years old. They can’t afford a new one. Not even a used new one because of house payments and car payments for her husbands car, which was used and bought when his old one just wouldn’t work anymore inspite of all the repairs.
Like so many people they don’t have access to mass transit to get to work and working in different places they go different directions so they can’t even share a ride.
I am glad to have the time with my grandson and they are happy they don’t have to pay for daycare. It is the best a lot of working class people can do.

  4. Paine, Grace and Jeannie, to put your kids in childcare so you can get more material possessions should be a crime. Only a sick society would embrace it.

Jeannie, your grandchildren are lucky that you are around. A loving grandparent is as good as the child’s parents. In some cases, better!
