Avital and Mark: “We DON’T target civilians!”
Friends, since the carnage in Gaza stopped a very interesting situation has developed. You will remember that during the 22 day massacre the Israeli mouthpieces stoutly and continuously maintained that Israel went to extraordinary lengths to avoid civilian casualties. I even remember seeing Israeli footage that claimed to show how they even aborted the firing of missiles so that residential areas wouldn’t be hit.
But a new report, one featured on Information Clearing House by Ben White, suggests that the Israelis went into the conflict with the express intention of using ‘disproportionate force.’ What this means is that, if one Israeli is killed, then ten, fifty, a hundred, a thousand of the enemy will be killed. This is supposed to act as a deterrent. Possibly by coincidence, the Nazis thought the same!
It seems they achieved their aim because 1360 Palestinians were killed and only 13 Israelis: 3 civilians and 10 soldiers (three of whom were killed by their own troops). This gives a ratio of 136 Palestinians killed for every Israeli. Disproportionate force indeed.
One report that is doing the rounds on the BBC is that an Israeli got out of a tank with an M16 and, seeing a woman holding a white flag, a woman surrounded by her three children, the brave soldier fired again and again. His score? He killed two children, shot the woman, and the third child is in an Egyptian hospital and will never walk again. The distraught father, upon receiving the news, was shown crying. Ah, the Children of God. Don’t you just love them?
One wonders when the depleted uranium dust clears, just where Israel is headed next. I mean the ratio could be increased dramatically if Israel used atomic or nuclear weapons. I mean a ratio of 100,000 : 1 is possible, even more! What happened in Hiroshima showed just how many can be killed with one bomb.
Israel, with more advanced weapons, might set a new record, give America a new benchmark to aspire to. Perhaps a gold medal could be awarded to the winner each year. It might even be made an Olympic competition.
A contributor to this blog, Heretic, made mention of the fact that I appeared to be in despair. Fancy that!
Surely, anyone who has an a shred of conscience, of compassion, or sense of fairplay would be.
I too have been in despair David, hence very few posts lately. I did listen to Obama’s speach and I thought I heard him make reference to Israel’s carnage in a somewhat disconnected remark about the misuse of power against a weaker force. Can’t remember the exact quote off the top of my head, but it did leave me with the impression that he did not approve. Maybe he will follow through and put Israel on a leash. They are here to stay, so we’ll have to figure some way to deal with them. I guess he needs to clean his own house first though.
I think this is a long way from being over. I just wonder how long it will be before a rocket launches from somewhere in northern Gaza and the Juden say, ” Itold you so, you can’t trust ‘em, now we’ll finish them off and take Lebanon with them.” The Palestinians will just look at each other trying to figure out who fired the rockets when Israel brings out the big guns with uncle sam’s blessing. What ever happened to that 3,000 tons of ordanance that got blockaded in Greece? Es gibt zu viele schlechte Juden in der welt.

Regarding the future, having had success in massacring the civilian population of Gaza, Israel might be tempted to use ‘disproportionate force’ on Lebanon or even nuke Iran. They’ll try to evaluate Obama first, see which way he’ll jump.
But underneath it all they don’t give a stuff what anyone thinks and will pursue their deranged ambitions until either they win or bring about the destruction of the world.

Might be three or four degrees of remove, but no more than that is needed in a “No Reporters Allowed” form of warmaking, I think.
Honestly, were I in Hamas’ hard-pressed position, I’d be more for the RPGs and high-speed Gatling gear myseelf, also LOTS of 12-gauge shotgunnery and slugs to match. Um, now let’s think for a moment of Hizbollah, who was (even if nothing else) definitively *not* direct-vote elected to govern the Palestinian people – um, mebbe’ them guys got any motivation to screw Hamas’ pooch? Thanks for your welcome, DavidG – this is your blog; your hand is on the button. But precisely which other reply posting do you refer to? (Surely not *all* the others!)
If something I wrote is not making sense, I think it just might be due due to my typing finger’s buffer overflowing and clearing itself – dropping-out is a trouble that way.
Other than that, it just might be a trans-cultural disconnect related to shades and inversions of values that are otherwise mutually recognized. (I am not black, but am not at all ashamed that I am not white in my heart. This manner of being is quite contrary to the Emperor’s Manifest Expectation, so to connotatively term it .)
On the other hand, I also tend to have little to no trouble following (tho’ one needn’t agree with) the line of reasoning that amanfromMars, who comments on http://theregister.co.uk from time to time, propounds to the world+dog. Been well ahead of that forward-looking curve for a full human lifetime from earliest yearsw; ain’t about to be dispossessed from that craggy perch of mine any time soon.)

David, I see the Jesse James of the M.E. has only holstered their guns for a short while.They have threatened to unleash another pogrom on the Gaza should the Palestinians open up the tunnel system, that has allegedly been destroyed by the Israeli military machine.
Still the rest of the world can sleep easy, the Israelis only hit military targets and the odd ambulance or two.I see they have finally let in the foreign media to witness the nice job they have done restructuring some of the buildings in the Gaza, to the tune of 1.9 billion bucks from last reports.Still I believe the Saudis have said they will pony up the loot for all the renovations, still what can 1.9 billion bucks buy these days? Obama will spend that in a day just bailing out all the thieves and other assorted shysters in the U.S banking system. Hey it’s raining money, a trillion here a trillion there who cares? And of course a lot of that bail out loot will end up in the pockets of the maggots that let it all happen.Still no change there, we still prosecute the innocent and reward the shit bags.

In Iceland, the demonstrators are demanding the government resign, due to the financial crisis. So far, injuries, both sides, tear gas. Just a start. High tech Homeland Security weapons come out soon. (US military base there, you know.)
The US will never get the blame. The government is sacred, just like we was told in the 1st grade. No matter that the spend a $9,000 a year for each tax unit on military madness.

Iceland is just the start of things to come.I guess living in Oz we wont feel it as much as some, we have a reasonable social welfare system as it goes.I would not like to be living in the U.S. where getting money out of the government(unless your a bent politician)for luxuries like food and clothes is not to easy.

Obama’s silence on Gaza, ruined for me, what must have been such a great day in America. I watched, disconnected. How can I be excited for the greatest nation, my home, who shipped weapons, like DIME**, to kill mothers and their children. Untill Obama takes a righteous stand for all of the true victims, it will remain a time of despair.
**DIME: acronym for weapon that releases burning tungsten in small particles that kill an exposed person slowly for a week.
I noticed we need light bulbs and was told it is harder to find light bulbs these days because of a Tungsten shortage. The irony is cruel.

And the US television zionist,militarist,corporatist television networks, namely Fox and NBC hired military analysts, both of whom are retired generals, who broadcasted that Israel should have gone deeper into Gaza, done more harm, and need not have worried about all the civilian casualties since the world will not hold that against it. I only know about these ghouls by reading an article found at antiwar.com today, and my mouth dropped wide open.
Then last night on CBS news, Couric featured a segment showing the young men of Gaza redigging the tunnels, and the reporter went on and on how that was with the aim of getting more weapons, and that Iran was much to blame. Slight mention was allowed to be made by another man that they needed the tunnels to get essential goods, but nothing was said about the blockade by Israel that made tunneling necessary.
Look at who owns these three networks. They are deliberately leading us into more war on the non-jewish Middle East, and I now fully understand why so many educated peaceniks say that the media monsters should be the first ones hung (after a trial), even before the politicians who lied to get us into war, and who committed war crimes.

Grace and Swan, there is a huge battle going on for control of peoples’ minds. Those who run the world and those who are supposed to report fairly and honestly on the world’s activities are in cahoots. Murdoch is a prime example of the incestuous relationship and its danger.
Only the internet and media outlets like Al Jazeera make any attempt to tell the truth. If they can close us down, they will. We must fight against it.

Apart from commercial internet users with static IP addresses, IPs are almost useless for access control purposes. It’s much more likely to be an OS deficiency or “glitch” of some kind.
The ICH Haloscan feature does require Javascript to be enabled, but AFAIK it doesn’t need Java to be installed on the user’s machine. I have Java installed for some but not all of my multiboot OSs and those with only Javscript all seem to work fine there, even including Billy Gates’ latest offerings.

Whenever it seems that Israel’s cruelty to innocent children can’t possibly get any worse, they somehow mange to come up with some other stomach churning atrocity. According to recent reports, not satisfied with killing Palestinian kids outright, the brave Israeli soldiers have apparently now decided that executing their parents in front of them is also a great pschological tool.
One nine-year-old boy says his father was shot dead in front of him despite surrendering to Israeli soldiers with his hands in the air.
For some stange reason, the testimony of a nine-year-old carries much more weight for me than all of Israel’s denials and protestations of innocence. But my reaction to the outrage won’t allow me comment further on the subject.

Arvy, the IDF soldier who shot two kids dead, shot their mother as well, and left the third child a paraplegic will probably, in secret, will get Israel’s Highest Award. He really took the edict to use ‘disproportionate force’ seriously like most of his brothers-in-crime!

What monsters. Murderers. And to knowingly lie to the world about being murderers and monsters. You know, at least people like Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer owned up to their horrors. To me, that puts them about five or six rungs up on the evolutionary ladder above Israel. Maybe a couple above the United States.
One thing is certain, not only did we give the Israelis their land, their military, their might and our blessing, we also taught them the fine art of bullshit. Such generous benefactors the good ol’ U.S. of A. is. If only we were half as generous with our own people, eh?

Late Revolution, America has given so much to Israel and has spent so much on weaponry and munitions and occupations that it hasn’t got anything left for its own. The plight of many Americans is tragic given the wealth the country once had.

Walking Turtle, this blog is a labor of love. When I rail against injustice some think I’m preaching hate. Nothing could be further from the truth. I just hate injustice!
I see what mankind could be and I see what it is and the disconnect is infinite. We need to change the rules, get rid of those who are exploiting us for their own selfish gain, bring about a change in values, some of which, I agree, we had half a century ago.
We also need to change our education system, teach people to think rather than indoctrinate them to become nothing more than producers and consumers.
So much to be done, so little progress.
