The Precipice yawns below us!
Friends, it has occurred to me that we are rapidly heading towards the end of the road at least as far as humans are concerned. The number of things that are happening at the moment, their complexity, their interrelatedness, their direness lead me to no other conclusion.
The are many problems one could list: global warming. Recessions. A financial crisis. The struggle by America to control the world using force. The deranged actions of Israel. The hatred between races and religions. The gross inequalities between nations. The prevalence of war and occupation. The ridiculous belief that might is right, that bombs and massacres solve problems. The existence of multitudes of weapons of mass destruction and armaments. The mistaken belief that greed is good, that self is pre-eminent, that material goods bring happiness. Then there are the drugs that permeate our society, the violence, the rape, the incest, the pedophilia, the egocentricity, the greed and dishonesty, etc. What a sorry mess!
Sure you say, there are these things but we’ve always had these things, for ten milleniums we’ve had these things and we’re still here. That is true of course but it seems to me we’ve never had such a collection of things boiling in the cauldron all at the same time before.
And we’ve rarely witnessed such extreme barbarity as occurred in Gaza, a barbarity which was enabled by American arms and tacitly approved of by the World’s major Superpower (the one that is supposed to uphold freedom, democracy and human rights).
The brutal, unconscionable actions of America and Israel and their supporters are equivalent to waving a red rag in front of a bull. Both nations, imperialist to the core, are deliberately doing things which cause great anger and hatred in the Muslim world and rightly so. Resultantly, there is a greater chasm opening up between cultures and an escalation in conflict. So far the Muslims have reacted using only Jihadi militias. Soon perhaps Muslim countries may well join together, form military alliances to oppose the military threat posed by the American-led imperialists.
And countries like Pakistan, nuclear-armed, might use more direct force especially when America, on the edge of bankruptcy, provocatively continues to invade its sovereignty with drones. And North Korea still remains an unknown quantity and may have nukes. And Iran, continuously threatened by nuclear-armed Israel and America, rightly continues to seek nuclear weapons to defend itself and is also seeking alliances with countries like Russia. And China is rapidly becoming a military superpower as is India while Russia is upgrading its nuclear arsenal.
Friends, if America and Israel were taken out of the equation, the world would still have serious problems to deal with but they are not insolvable. But with warmongering America and Israel in the mix (supported by nations like Britain, Australia and others) AND given the fact that there is no serious outcry from even one civilized country for America and Israel to immediately stop their barbarity and imperialism and change direction OR ELSE, I feel that we teeter on the edge of a precipice! One small mistake and it’ll be all over.
Contemplate the scene well. What do YOU see?
Well, I know for sure that I’m teetering on the edge of oblivion. It’s inevitablilty tends to cause one — almost anyone I would surmise — to become somewhat more fatalistic as it approaches.
Makes one speculate about the truism that “old men start wars and young men die in them” as one possible reflection of that elder fatalism along with that other truism: “you can’t take it with you.” It sure does seem like some people don’t want to leave anything behind.

Yep, some people play the game of ‘All or Nothing’, Arvy. Problem is they’re playing their game with our world!
It’s time the whole world stood up to American and Israel, put them in their place before they drag the lot of us over the precipice.

“… we’ve always had these things, for ten milleniums we’ve had these things and we’re still here”.
The threat of total inhalation by weapons of the nuclear variety in past milleniums did not exist. These are very different times. I am not a person inclined to religious beliefs but I do wonder if we’ll end up destroying ourselves just like the scriptures say. Wouldn’t that be a kick in the ass!

It seems to me to be an inevitability, L.T.
If I could see one benign, peace-seeking nation in the world, one that was of some importance that was prepared to stand up for decency and equality and justice, one that was strongly against war and militarism and greed, I would not be so pessimistic. It seems however they’re all tarred with the one brush.
There’s no one to lead us towards peace and there’s no one to stop the imperialists!

Sad, that something so simple can’t be followed through on.
Greed and power, when will people learn.
Er, probably never, as history shows ; (
Cheers!

Even CBS last night on 60 Minutes showed the whole world the thuggery and treachery of racist apartheid Israel. The end is coming, David. There is little doubt that Blair and British jew-nazis went to Israel and planned the uma on Gaza, as did AIPAC help during its Nov. visit,
PROBABLY with the full approval of Barack Hussein Obama, the impostor.

“such extreme barbarity as occurred in Gaza,”
Worse than killing tens of thousands in WWII by bombing cities, worse than Iraq, Afghanistan?
Or Vie Nam, or Cambodia, or Clinton bombing in Operation Desert Fox, on and on. This reads a bit like this is new.

Although there is going to be a lot of suffering, the world will muddle on through as per usual.
For mine it is not a war, (hopefully) but the financial crisis that is going to bring life as we know it, down to the level of the people that we have all witnessed in places like the starving in parts of Africa.
But having said that, it is interesting how most people are quite oblivious to what is going on. It is funny in a weird way, almost surreal, that there are still people who are still optimistic about the future, and that the great Obama will make everything alright, and the nightmare that is unfolding and exponentially getting worse by the day, will all just go away.
But humans are strange cattle indeed, I was watching Sky News today and if I heard it one more time, that a dead Australian actor who overdosed some time ago won an award for acting, I was going to smash the plasma. That and various reports on sports stars that are as over reported as they are over paid for doing five fifths of seven eighths of F.A. for humanity. That with the debate about a date for Australia day to fall on, It doesn’t take much imagination or gray matter to see what is going on.
As an aside to all of that, the Fox Network that transmits asinine shows like Hannity’s America and the Oreilly factor, are trying to convince the American public that the financial crisis is the fault of the poor, I shit you not.
Still despairing.

Well, maybe not all TV. There are some small but encouraging signs that even USans may be slowly learning to bypass the distractions and propaganda.
What concerns me more, however, are recent developments that would adjoin the entire internet to the same vast wasteland of infotainment. If we lose that last “poor man’s printing press” as an outlet for independent thought, we’ve pretty much had it.

It seems to me in my fifty years of observation of humanity on this planet that all international, national and regional conflicts have transpired because of the different ideologies that are encapsulated in religious doctrine. Can you think of a war that in some way was not connected to religion? What kind of God would create a species and instill in them a desire to do harm to others that were not quite like themselves? How could intelligent people be manipulated by the pretense of an omnipotent unseen power? Their quick reply would be “faith!”
What do you have faith in? Is it your spouse, kids, dog, friend, ideology? Why can’t we replace the word faith with trust? I trust my spouse, my dog and my friend, but I don’t trust my government and the ideological decisions they make based on faith.
We have many religious books on faith, the bible, koran, torah and I’m sure there are more written by the religious poobah’s through the ages. They all have a common theme, war! I was looking on the net about atheism a couple of days ago and ran across some christian twit and his war on atheist and agnostics. It’s all around us. There are price wars, gas wars, cattle wars, property wars and this ball game is sure to be a war. War can’t even be kept out of friendly competition. After your mama pulled the tit out of your mouth when you were a baby, the second words out of your mouth after bitch were probably, ” this is war!” It’s innate. It’s in every animal on the planet and we are just one step in evolution from all fours.
So how does this relate to the precipice? Our evolutionary journey will end for each of us whether it’s from natural causes or we are predisposed by some unfortunate event. It is inevitable. We are at all time on the precipice and death is always only an arms length away to your left. If you are very quick you might catch a glimpse as it moves away. If you see it fully and it doesn’t fear your glance, you may be about to find out what is at the bottom of the precipice below your feet. Now this is the time when you discern between faith and trust. I’ll put my faith in trust!

Some wars are of the religious flavor, most are for power, money, control, and the serving of the greatest danger to mankind, the ego. There isn’t a politician been born that is in it for the right reason, most of them are that shallow they could parachute out of a snakes arse.
They exist because people are as gullible as the day is long, and when you consider some of the absolute tools we have voted in to control our lives in the last couple of generations, it is a wonder we have lasted this long. But it is the working class that are the dumbest tools not the politicians, the establishment has never had any trouble finding half the working class to beat up on the other half, this has been a proven formula since the time of medieval bully boys, so every time some politician screws you over, or orders the bombing of the Gaza, etc, etc, etc, just think, about half the dumb bastards that live in most streets in yours and my neighborhood, agree with them.

For those contemplating the world’s end, this tidbit is courtesy of Press TV:
__
Israel, which accuses Iran of having “plans” to build an atomic bomb, has long argued that taking out Iran’s nuclear infrastructure is a legitimate option should “diplomacy” fail to convince Tehran to give up nuclear enrichment.
[...]
His remarks came shortly after a Jerusalem Post report revealed that the Israeli Defense Forces have been drawing up attack plans on Iran “that do not include coordination with the United States.”
__
In other words, folks, if anticipated US discussions with Iran are, in Israel’s sole judgment, not entirely adequate to ensure absolutely their own continued exclusive possession of any kind of nuclear technology, even for peaceful purposes, then Israel will act unilaterally as it deems necessary to achieve that end — and very possibly a few other unexpected ends as well.

I may have mentioned before that the subject of the elitists is a subject I have have been encouraged not to think or talk about, but now I am so personally stressed out by elitists and reading in your post and comments about these people that are blaming the poor while they are busy making life literally impossible for large amounts of people. It is time to vent today, because “new rules” have just been implemented and seem in sync with so many “new rules” facing too many people today.
We moved. Two miles. What a difference two miles make. If our house is worth 300, houses near my son’s school start at 600 and go to 4mil. The old rule is that if you move, you can stay at the school. New rule: You may not stay, and you have no say – and “it is out of everyone’s control.” It will be up to a computer lottery to decide if he can stay. Bottom line: if you no longer live in an elitist neighborhood, they don’t want you sticking around taking advantage of their school. This fits in with all the foreclosures going on and the displacement of families and children in particular. Obama needs to address displaced and stressed out children! Right in a neighborhood near you. Fortunately, even though our son is academically second in his class, scores high on all his tests, builds solar powered vehicles in his spare time, goes to science camp every summer, as well as sudying the piano and he loves nature, – we will still have to fight the good fight to make sure he is in a good place. Because, though we live in a pretty house on a beautiful, quiet, tree lined street, own our home, are caucasion, the child living in a house with both his parents, it is nevertheless on the other side of the home value line from Elitists. Makes me sad for so many, not just my own. It is an unecessary stressor on people to implement these new changes, now of all times.
I grew up in an elitist system and left it out of disgust. I never thought I would have to deal with them again.
Why is the Sacred Ganges River sacred? Because enough people all decide to believe it is.
