Think Or Get Eaten!

Friends, especially those who are new to this blog, the way this world is heading it could well be the case that the confronting title of this post is true. Of course, I don’t mean that cannibalism is about to make a reappearance (although if food supplies dwindle because of global warming it might become a reality).

No, I mean that the system is going to gobble you up, take you for a ride, run you into the ground, take away your rights, exploit you even more unmercifully than it already does. Have I got your attention?

Yes, as you live each day of your life in blissful ignorance, your brain in stand-by mode, dark forces are gathering, are plotting how best to move forward in their never-ending quest to grab even more money from you and strip away more of your political power (such as it is).

Though you may see yourself as the center of the universe, they, our masters, see you as no more than a mere commodity or potential convert or an economic or political resource, a bit like a nut or a bolt that has some infinitesimal importance but is easily replaceable.

Look around you. No I don’t mean look at your wide-screen television with the ten speaker surround system or the pink leather lounge or the huge photograph of President Bush or Gordon Brown or the large flag which dangles from the wall outside your home. I mean look at the world beyond your comfortable little alcohol-soaked cocoon.

Who Cares About The Children?

Posted by David G on Dec 30, 2008 in Posts

boyfuneral3

Friends, this Reuters photograph was taken at a Gaza funeral for three Palestinian kids killed by the Israeli bombing. It shows a very young boy watching the funerals. His face clearly shows his emotions: fear, sadness, pain…well, you can see for yourselves.

This innocent child, like many, is caught in Israel’s web. He cannot escape. His nation is under siege. For four days he has lived with bombs dropping. He has seen complete destruction of familiar buildings, the bodies being flung into cars. He has heard the screams of the injured, watched the tears of the bereaved. He, along with the rest of his people, is being starved. The hospitals around him can no longer cope with the numbers of injured and they are running out of medical supplies and blood for transfusions.

This child has done nothing wrong. He just happened to be born alongside a State which, let me be frank, is run by a cabal of brutal religious fanatics. Most of the people in this State do not care about this child or any other child, only their own. In fact they do not consider this particular child or the race of people he belongs to as human beings. They see them as animals.

The Cat And The Bird!

Israeli Tanks Are Massing. The Slaughter Is About To Begin!

Friends, have you ever watched a cat play with a bird that it’s caught? It’s not a pretty sight, is it? The footage from Gaza that I saw this morning reminds me of such a scene, one that I saw when I was a small boy.

The memory is still fresh in my mind: the very big cat, the very small bird that was trying desperately to get away. And the cat let it think it was escaping only to jump and capture it again in its claws and injure it a bit more. I threw stones at the cat, drove it away. I took the bird home in a small tin, wrapped a bandage around it. But it died by the next morning, its trauma and injuries too great.  I’ve had little time for cruelty or cats ever since.

In the Gaza, Israel is a giant cat and the Palestinians are the captured birds. Israel is playing with the citizens of Gaza, inflicting casualties and pain, dropping a bomb here, a missile there. 345 people are dead now and somewhere between 800-1,450 are injured (depending on the source) and much of Gaza is in ruins. 4 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian rockets, the ones the Israelis are using as a pretext for the carnage. 345-4, eh? Those Pesky Palestinians must be really dangerous!

It’s All A Question Of Balance!

Posted by David G on Dec 29, 2008 in Posts

Friends, the last series of posts have been rather harrowing. In the midst of such carnage and graphic evidence of the darkness that resides within most humans, it’s easy to lose perspective, to become downhearted, unbalanced.

It’s important to keep in mind that not all humans are evil, that not all humans are savages. And, of course, not all humans are possessed by religious demons which render them insane, blind, violent, cruel.

No, there is in the world beauty, peace, harmony. Granted, you have to look for it but it is there, in dark forests, in quiet rivers, in leafy nooks. I offer you this photograph as evidence. Please take some time to look at it.

Israel: Where Might Is Right!

A Palestinian man weeps over the body of his son following Israeli missile attacks.

Once this severed leg belonged to a Palestinian policeman.

Friends, I have decided to post these two confronting Reuters pictures. They give some insight into what is happening in Gaza where over 290 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli Defense Forces so far.

They express far more eloquently than I can the evil that is Israel.

“By their works ye shall know them.”

World War Three Has Begun!

“Help us,” they cry. But no one comes!

Friends, last night, with Bush still in power, Israel launched air attacks on the Gaza Strip using F16s and Apache helicopters. It’s like Jenin all over again, only Gaza is hundreds of times bigger and over 1.5 million Palestinians live there.

Using ‘shock and awe’,  Israel has begun its plan to annex the Gaza Strip and get rid of those who rightly live there either by killing them or pushing them into the surrounding deserts. Over 220 Palestinians have been killed already and 700 are injured (one Israeli has been killed). The ‘might’ of Israel has been unleashed as Olmert promised. The insatiable fox is in the hen house. And the ‘operation’ has just begun!

What seems to be merely a local conflict has already got the whole world buzzing. The West is urging Israel to show restraint but, as usual, is doing nothing to stop the Israeli barbarity. The Arab World is in a frenzy of condemnation and talking about U.N. resolutions which will have the usual effect: none!

I have real concerns for where this will go. Is Bush involved here? Is he intending to stay on as President claiming that the world situation is now too dire to change Commanders in Chief? Is this an attempt by Israel to further its imperial ambitions before Obama takes office? If it is, then expect the nuking of Iran to take place shortly.

Israel Pushing Us Towards WW3!

A Palestinian carries a child injured by the Israeli ‘victims’!

Friends, Israel is again beating its war drums. Yes, the country with the forth strongest army in the world is claiming its survival is at risk because the impoverished Palestinians in Gaza, under siege, are firing homemade rockets at it (causing little damage and no fatalities). The rockets are,  ‘Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’  The nuclear-armed, imperialist Israelis aren’t!

Now you may be like many people in the world and understand little about what is going on in the Palestinian Territories since Israel was illegitimately created there soon after WW2. Perhaps you should pay attention. Your future could depend on it! Since the Palestinian Nakbah or ‘Catastrophe’ took place, the Palestinians have been driven from their homes without compensation. They are spread all over the Middle East and the bulk of them live in impoverished refugee camps.

The Palestinians left in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip have been under brutal occupation for sixty years and, progressively, they have had more and more of their land stolen by armed Israeli settlers. They have had their homes demolished, their farms and orchards cut off by concrete walls, their taxes withheld by the ‘victimized’ Israelis.

They have suffered IDF massacres by the dozens, have had to queue for hours at checkpoints, have had to suffer the indignity of  ‘Israeli-only’ roads. The Palestinians have been starved, had their women and children shot by IDF snipers, their men have been imprisoned without trial, tortured, you name it. The casualty figures last time I saw them were 7 Palestinians killed for every Israeli.

Buy, Buy, Buy! Sigh, Sigh, Sigh!

Posted by David G on Dec 26, 2008 in Posts

frenzy

Friends,  it seems that the main purpose of Xmas both before and after is for the sheeple to get themselves into the stores and literally buy everything in sight. Of course this type of thinking also applies to the rest of the year as well!

Everywhere there are sales, shops opening 24 hours a day, specials, bargains, great buys, etc. It’s as if the only purpose  human beings have is consumerism, consumerism based upon one single purpose: to make the entrepreneurs rich and the wealthy shareholding institutions happy!

And if you can’t afford the sale items, or a house or a car, use credit! And if you can’t afford to pay back the monthly minimum payments, get more credit cards and use each one to pay back the others.

Surely it must be obvious to anyone whose brain has even the slightest capacity to think that such a system must bring about its own destruction. And of course that’s saying nothing about the damage to the planet that such crazed consumerism causes.

Nephew Waits Anxiously As Do We!

Posted by David G on Dec 23, 2008 in Posts

Friends, this is a Reuters’ photo of Muntazer’s nephew. He is holding a photo of his uncle who spoke out for the world. Note the look of worry on the boy’s face.

Note the face of the shoe thrower. He doesn’t look like a hero or a renegade. In fact, he looks like an ordinary, regular human, much like us! The difference is that, to date, he’s braver than us. As well, he’s refused to apologize to Bush over the incident.

The badly beaten Muntazer al-Zeidi is due to be tried on December 31. The whole world waits for the outcome. Will the puppet Government throw the book at him to appease and impress their imperialist American occupiers? Will they instead manipulate the judicial process and outcome to suit their approaching election prospects knowing the popularity of the brave journalist among Iraqis? Will they settle for a middle course and give him some punishment but not the maximum available?
