The Jenin Massacre. One of many!

Friends, Israel has currently got the Gaza Strip under siege. It is starving the population there as well as depriving them of power and light and medical aid. There is talk of invading Gaza and there are those in Israel who covertly exhort their government to rid the Gaza of all Palestinians. Meanwhile, the world does nothing as it’s done for sixty years!

Elsewhere in the occupied Palestinian Territories, Israel is removing Arabs from East Jerusalem in the middle of the night so that Jewish settlers can occupy their homes. Those so removed have no other place to live except in the street. The plan is to flood East Jerusalem with Jewish residents so that should any peace settlement occur in the future, something as unlikely as me flying like a bird tomorrow morning, Israel will get all of Jerusalem as its capital. Meanwhile, the world does nothing as it’s done for sixty years!

Elsewhere in the West Bank, Jewish settlement building continues at a fast past in spite of periodic tut-tutting from America and other pro-Israeli Western Powers. As well as taking more and more land, Israel has the population under strict military control with concrete walls and multitudes of checkpoints, tanks and soldiers. Israel, surprising, has also gained some support from the traitorous Abbas and sections of the Fatah militias and Police (Fatah, you’ll recall, lost the democratic election but refused to allow Hamas to become the elected government of the Palestinians). While Israel, aided and abetted by America, divides and conquers and steals ever more Palestinian land and demolishes more Palestinian homes, the world does nothing as it’s done for sixty years.

Israel, which was created after WW2, is a running sore which could yet bring about the end of our world given that they have indicated they will use nukes if they believe it is necessary.

It is a nuclear armed power, one that has the very latest in military weaponry, thanks to America. Its quarrels with almost all its neighbours has resulted in a series of wars all of which it’s won with the possible exception of its last foray into Lebanon when it got its nose bloodied. It is currently considering attacking Iran with nukes before Iran gains any nuclear weapons. It, predictably, wants to remain the only power in the Middle East to have such fearsome weapons. Don’t do as I do, do as I say, eh!

The bottom line is that the world had no right to take a large section of the Palestinian Territories and give it to groups of Jews from all over the world. The world had no right to push the inhabitants of Palestine out of their homeland to make way for a group of anachronistic religious fanatics who harbor fantasies that they are the Children of God.

The innocent people who were dispossessed without compensation by a few militarily powerful Western Nations (America and Britain were prime movers) were forced to live in refugee camps in many countries or were herded into poor parts of Palestine by the invaders. Such an action has not only alienated Muslims from around the world but all fair-minded people.

The Israelis on the other hand were armed and financially feted by the West who somehow believed that the Jews were part of their Christian heritage. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Jews do not embrace Jesus Christ at all. They have their own theological fantasy in which they will sit at God’s feet, not the Christian goyim. And not only that but Israel, not satisfied with being given land that wasn’t theirs, set about taking more land and more land and soon enough they occupied all the Palestinian Territories and treated the Palestinians like despised animals. The Palestinians, predictably, began to resist and so began the sixty years of hell for a people who, prior to the creation of Israel, were living quite peacefully in the Palestinian Territories as they had been doing for centuries.

The problem is that what happened in Palestine shows people around the world what can happen to any poor country should a few major military powers decide to take some of their land for whatever reason. People around the world have watched what has happened to the Palestinians and they know that international laws and human rights aren’t worth the paper they’re written on if the mighty decide to act either in their self-interest or that of another powerful lobby group.

Even now, in the midst of the financial and economic crisis, rich countries are getting hold of land in countries right around the world to ensure they have enough food to feed their citizens. At this stage they’re buying it or leasing it but with global warming there could well come a time in the near future when military power will be used to take land belonging to other nations. The American invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, not because of security reasons, but principally for access to scarce resources are recent examples.

While Israel and America are allowed to remain brutal, nuclear-armed imperial powers, the whole world is destabilized. No one’s country is safe. No one’s property is safe. No one is safe.

We must get rid of this cancer that was transplanted into the Muslim Middle East to demonstrate to the world that international laws and human rights must eventually prevail. Let the Jews go back to where they came from. Let the Palestinians return to their land and be given the justice they deserve and full compensation.

Let’s demonstrate that we have a world based upon justice and fairness for everyone, not upon the whims of the militarily strong who either put their own interests first or capriciously appease those who whine the loudest and play the victim role to death!
