What The World Hopes For After Tuesday!
Friends, on Tuesday America votes. There is high expectation that Obama will win. If he does the world hopes for great change in America. The following 10 points are some of the things on its wish-list:
1. An acceptance that America is a small part of the world, not the center of it.
2. An acceptance that greed and American-style capitalism is destroying our planet.
3. An acceptance that greed and American-style capitalism is reducing humans to the level of moronic, two-legged pigs.
4. An acceptance that might is not right and that war solves no problems.
5. An acceptance that the American political system is deeply flawed and needs radical change (21 months and billions of dollars to elect a President is a farce as is a Constitution that allows a President to be a dictator).
6. An acceptance that American religious fanaticism is dangerous and irrational.
7. An acceptance that American society is deeply divided and flawed.
8. An acceptance that America is currently being run by greedy corporations, Zionists, fear-mongering politicians and corrupt media barons.
9. An acceptance that most Americans are poorly educated, easily manipulated and know little about the rest of the world.
10. A willingness by America to accept help from other countries to assist it to heal itself and become an admired, responsible, peace-loving nation.
Of course, what the world hopes for and what America delivers may be disappointing.
We can but hope!
P.S. The thought that Obama might not win is too nightmarish to contemplate.
P.P.S. Why would any rational country vote on a Tuesday when most people are at work or college, etc,?
I would agree with all that, as an outsider.
I want Obama to win, indeed I have an Obama badge on my site. and i’m a Brit.

The irony is that this country with only 5% of the world’s population has been allowed to amass so much power using borrowed money.
It needs its wings clipped!

Swan, this is the moment that many long-suffering Americans have been waiting for. I have shared their frustration and disappointment ever since Bush was elected.
Hopefully now, together, we can share the joy of renewal and a complete change of direction and attitude.

because of farming
our culture may not have many family farms anymore- but we still have leftovers from that time. having the election day on tuesday allowed folks to have the time to get into town and vote for election day- sundays were days of worship and one couldn’t travel. we also have 2 full months of summer break for the woefully educated youth of america from school that traces its roots back to the time when all hands were needed to work the farm. now, parents like the convenience i guess.
as for the accepting those things- good luck. on top of being woefully incurious and uneducated- we are fairly nationalistic and arrogant about being americans. while that is a bit on the wane, i can truthfully say that it will be hard to get rid of altogether. from day one of the start of this country- we were told we were different and special from the rest of the world. we were the best. this was the best country on earth because we were a democracy. generations were taught that- and even for sentient beings (like me dare i say?), it is tough to come to grips that what you were taught was a lie. patience folks- the electorate is waking up- and coming to grips with stuff they never imagined.

Today my 6 yr old asked me, “What makes America so great?” I told him that we have the freedom to believe what we want and say what we want without being imprisoned. I then said that while we have the freedom to say anything we want, what makes us great is that while we can say and do anything, we choose to do the “right thing.” With freedom comes responsibility. That is where greatness lies. This is also where America has failed itself and the World.
I suppose it takes maturity, but it also takes leadership. Our greatest leaders were all murdered. Some even say Poppy Bush was directly involved. This weekend after watching a video of the families of 9/11 and their journey, It is to me beyond a doubt that this Bush Administration has been directly implicit and pro-active in crimes against Humanity and our Planet. The really disgusting part is the complicity of politicians of all stripes and spots! What I am saying is that a crime has been committed against all living things, the very structure of our DNA and our only Planet.
I am with you David, the alternative to an Obama administration is too nightmarish to contemplate. I am choosing to enjoy this day and dream while I can.
It is good to hear from others; the other 95% of life on our Earth; and open myself to ourselves; to this mutual predicament and hopeful possibilities, joyful solutions. Peace.

David, the whole issue of hanging a little poster in support of Obama really has had me thinking and observing these past weeks. To update: I have a visible poster of Obama that says Hope on it in my car. Whenever I see other Obama posters I find it inspiring. This season has been different. 1.)Mostly I had the attitude that if people don’t know what is going on at this late date probably not much I will do to help. 2.) I work in a very conservative law firm. The owner puts out right wing reading propaganda for all to read. My boss and I stay quiet and don’t discuss politics at work with the others. They are hunters and wealthy, powerful types and this is reflected again in my life where I take the kid to school and the elitist social dynamics I face there. It has made me go somewhat underground.
Regarding the first point; as it turns out I had the opportunity to talk with a working class poor immigrant from Africa who planned to wote for Mc Cain!! I would like to think I pursuaded this person to re-think his vote. Which goes to show that we must speak up when called forth or something so glaring and that I could possibly illuminate someone in this day and age I must try and I did. The results are as usual beyond my control, but I want to always do the right thing anyway.
2.) Re; the 2nd point, I think the people who have been kicked down these past 8 years aren’t jumping at the opportunity to get kicked a little more.
An observation: in my new neighborhood the only poster I saw on someones lawn was for Obama/Biden. It affirmed that I was in the right neighborhood. But then something happened. I went over to the house yesterday and the Obama sign was not there. However, across the street on another house a whole lawn was taken over with McCain signs.
We are holding our breath and holding our hopes close.

Grace, I am highly stressed today while I await the outcome of your election so I can imagine how you feel.
I don’t trust the Republicans and I fear that the strong indoctrination will prompt far too many people to vote for McCain to say nothing of the possibility of fraud.
It’s a pivotal moment for the world.

There is a collective stress and shock even, I feel. Like on Anniversaries of deaths and tragedies or even good times I suppose, we re-live events. It is something I have experienced many times. Now, here we are. Election Day, the very day, once again. Every four years, but the past two rounds were horrible mutinies of democracy and justice and now here we are again. What has really been changed in these past years? Too much sadnesss to write here. Certainly not the things that needed to happen to change electronic tampering and illegal supression, and blatant corruption.
If there is any comfort David, the strongest vibe amongst The Many is for Obama. In almost every poll he is ahead by a large margin.
How much do any of our best efforts matter to the Masters of Doom? Is the Real question. No cheerful answer there. Only hope.
