What Now?

New Humans?

Well, the election is over. The whole world is still in party-mode. There is a sense of hope. But is it misplaced? After all, a new, charismatic leader has emerged but the powerful vested interests are still the same. They have suffered a setback but they will regroup, rise again.

I suppose people might accuse me of being overly cynical. But then, I’ve been alive long enough to be cynical. Life has bashed me up on many occasions. Each time I’ve got to my feet, dusted myself off, and starting fighting again. But eventually you realize that the world is bigger than you, that noble dreams and hopes have little place in this world. It is a world where survival of the fittest is still the operative rationale.

Some posts back, in a comment I made the observation that evolution might, one day, via mutation, throw up a new type of human, one that was rational, truly intelligent, inwardly peaceful, creative, compassionate, spiritual, generous. Perhaps this has already occurred. Perhaps somewhere in the world such humans, a family, a small group, even a community may already be in existence.

But hang on! Could you imagine how long a community of rational, truly intelligent, inwardly peaceful, creative, compassionate, spiritual, generous humans would survive in our current world? They wouldn’t last five minutes.

But if they were in some isolated place and could avoid the corruption and evil of this world, they might flourish, begin to grow. This assumes they can continue to escape the religious missionaries, the plundering capitalists, the cretins who are looking for girl sex slaves and virginal children, the drug dealers, the developers, the imperialists, the warmongers, etc.

Call me an idealist, but I hope there is such a family or group or community somewhere. I hope they grow in numbers and, one day, they will emerge to show us primitive humans a better way. I hope that we would welcome them.

But, upon further thought, that is unlikely. We are too programmed, too destructive, too violent. The Lord of the Flies is still a contemporary tale. No, if they suddenly appeared and, by their behaviour showed us what we really are, held a mirror up to us, let us see our ugliness, our cruelty, our superficiality, our depravity, we would fall upon them, shower them with stones, tear out their tongues, rip at their throats with our nails, drives stakes into their hearts.

However, don’t worry. We primitives will surely destroy our world and each other before evolution suffers an aberration and creates a new species of humans, one that, in theory at least, might have saved us from ourselves!

Adorable picture.
Abominable reality.
This is the world of contrasts we are living in.
The new human, exists, in the world of the idea. As long as you can harbor thoughts as the ones in “what now”, you are already a different kind of human.

Ah, Adina, if only I could make my dream of ‘new humans’ come true.

We primitive humans are struggling. We desperately need a new vision to help us to achieve a more worthy, less destructive, violent reality.

But then, history shows what happens to those who advocate love and peace and sharing.

Cheers.

Yes, only in a dream. We’ll never see such an event, but may see baby steps being taken.

We hope for that here too.

Cheers!

Lets be honest, true peace and prosperity will never be welcomed because there is no money in it. The rich aren’t just greedy, they are in a constant struggle to become richer at the expense of their enemies. Those at the top would never welcome a regime that was rational, truly intelligent, inwardly peaceful, creative, compassionate, spiritual, generous or the like. For the rich to stay rich, or become richer, there must be strife in the lower echelons of the caste. If the lower and middle class get their heads straight, they may become rich. If they become rich, someone becomes poor … and that someone won’t go down without a fight. Communism is a step in the right direction if you want true peace, prosperity and equality, but it is of course equally corrupt at the top and completely unsustainable.

Will Obama change anything? Of course! His friends will become richer at the expense of his enemies. Will the ‘people’ notice a difference? Lets hope so, but lets not hold our breath.

A great quote I read the other day …
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they’d never expect it.
– Jack Handey

Zahnn, you’re even more cynical than I am! Love the quote!

What setback did they suffer, David
G? The USA is most certainly, one nation, under Israel, without liberty and justice for all. We are most likely doomed!

Yes, I must confess to having increasing misgivings, Swan, since the election elation, but I’m trying to stay optimistic. Cheers.

Dear Swan,
I have not apologized for my mistrust and quotes of Obama. neither have I held back on my views on who s controlling the planet and it’s banking and politics… I still maintain my view. I adjusted it only based on our friends’ input, and agreed with them that maybe Obama had to say certain things to make himself elected by the “big money”.. and we both know who owns the planet…. So I agreed let us judge him based on his actions.. not on his words.. :) So let us wait..
I hope he will not disappoint my friends, and I hope he will surprise you and me pleasantly. Let us wait and see. And not lose hope.

David G, I see that you are an atheist, what do you believe happens after we die, where do we go? I have always wanted to know what atheists believe in this area. Thank you.

Where do we go? Nowhere. Dead is dead! Finish.

Only the gullible believe otherwise! Cheers.

I just reread your description of a new type of human. Lovely. I usually assume that the humans I deal with are already there. Unfortunately, at times, the results have been disastrous.

I thank you for writing this and other articles. I have thought similar things for a long time now; If we have created THIS reality, why couldn’t we create an alternative- like the one comprised of traits and characteristics of the “new human”.

What do we do? Those of us who do want to live in peace, who want to create such a community where violence isn’t a option because it simply doesn’t work?

Religion doesn’t serve humanity well- neither does capitalism… so why are these part of the status quo? Because the ‘powers that be’ encourage them because is serves them…. but why do human beings allow this to happen?

Is this simply part of it? The fact that we have to fight this ‘system’ is it similar to the kudu fighting the lion?
What can we do- besides living the ‘change’….. Doesn’t that say something right there…. that we need to Change? ….

I believe there must be a significant paradigm shift in the human conscience— it has to be hard wired in our minds that caring about one another and the planet is the only option….

Not through force but through logic….

E.R., thanks for calling by. Yes, change is important given that the direction we’re headed in will eventually result in our destruction.

We need to change but there are not enough aware people to make it happen!

Cheers.
