You carry the hopes of many world citizens on your shoulders.

May you be peaceable, compassionate and wise.

The stars of “Old Glory” glow with a new brilliance for the U.S.A. and for most of the world of nations, this very day.

My own faith in humanity has been some what restored. The faces and tears on the people in Chicago at Obama’s victory speech, said it all.

It is to so sad that the poison chalice of leadership, has been handed to a man who comes from a family of goat herders and the poor, with the expectation of his supporters, he will repair the damage of eight long years, of the most inept man ever to serve in the White House. Oh the irony.

most americans are savoring the moment because we are acutely aware that there is still much work to be done and bushco is still squatting in the white house until january. we don’t harbor illusions that obama is the messiah and will save us- i think most of us know we have to be the change we seek. but you cannot know the feeling of relief that has been washing over those of us who have fought the bush machine for years- starting as the minority. there have always been those of us who have fought since 2000, and i hope the world finally saw the lengths of the voter fraud, voter disenfranchisement, voter suppression, etc. that the republicans and the right wing engaged in. this has stolen elections for years- and we need to prioritize fixing the system. i intend to be a part of that. your democracy is only as good as your election system- and ours’ is badly broken- as everything else in our country. we have to start from the ground up and this is an opportunity to do so.

anyhoo- other than that- i don’t know what to say :)

Now, to get to work on the 10 points from your wish list. I think we really need to make full use Obama – and be the community that he can help organize. Also, what you had said David about the Nouveau Elitists that have gladly assumed power all these years, need to be brought back down to Earth. Most of these elitists didn’t come from royalty. They mostly inherited houses that their own parents got in GI Bills after WWII, but with land values and a college education that is what made them all that. When I was a kid the whole thing was to not show how much you had. Everyone wanted to be working class, even if you were truly wealthy! (I grew up in Hollywood, CA and saw alot of variations) If Barack Obama is to be President of the People, we must participate. Beyond that I am both in shock and ready all at the same time. It is truly a Historic day. I hope for the Iraqi and Afghani people and the young people in the military and he very soul of America, that we can at this time come as close to peaceful resolution as is possible.

Cheers everyone!

The night was historic…not question. But for us here on the US West Coast, we woke to the bitter realization that Proposition 8, a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, passed.

Chalk one up to money and the willingness of the LDS Church to interfere in California politics. Now it only remains to be seen if 18,000 marriages will be forcibly annulled.

With a Jewish terrorist as his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. A nightmare WhiteHouse.

Prop. 8 is un-American. There must be civil liberties for all, to be the harbor of freedom that we must be.

Friends, let us enjoy the euphoria of this historic moment while it lasts!

Soon enough it will be time to start the hard work involved in trying to address all the major problems (global warming, poverty, corruption in the financial and political systems, economic inequality, etc).

Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Cheers.

I really do not understand all this euphory.

Is it because like in the stock market, didn t crash so much, so then it is great?

Is there anything to be euphoric that among two bads the lesser one was chosen?

I am pleased.
but not at all euphoric.
just read Obama’s speaches. I quote and I could go on forever…:

WAR

“As the U.S. redeploys from Iraq, we can recapture lost influence in the Middle East. We can refocus our efforts to critical, yet neglected priorities, such as combating international terrorism and winning the war in Afghanistan.

And we can, then, more effectively deal with one of the greatest threats to the United States, Israel and world peace: Iran.”

!!!!!!!!!!!! The Next war?

OBAMA IRAN AND ISRAEL

“Iran’s President Is a Threat to All of Us”
!!!!!!! I ve heard that before… Osama Bin Laden…then Saddam Hussein…and now….ONCE AGAIN????

“Iran’s President Ahmadinejad’s regime is a threat to all of us. His words contain a chilling echo of some of the world’s most tragic history.

Unfortunately, history has a terrible way of repeating itself. President Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust. He held a conference in h
is country, claiming it was a myth. “

WOW…. WOW>.. ISRAEL EVERYWHERE.. even talking Iran brings it back to topic number one.

OBAMA IRAN AGAIN and NUCULAR!!!!!!!!!!! at least he spells it right..

“The world must work to stop Iran’s uranium enrichment program and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is far too dangerous to have nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical theocracy.

And while we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.”

Maybe he also has his Power Points just like Bush .. The Man knows what he s talking about doesn t he? He s seen Mahmoud Ahmadinejad mixing uranium powder with fertilizer… the Man s a threat… Which Man i ask you?

OBAMA on Israel again
seems to me he s speaking more about Israel than about HIS PLAN ON THE US and Saving the Economy

“Israel Must Freely Defend Itself When Attacked

And when Israel is attacked, we must stand up for Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself.

Last summer, Hezbollah attacked Israel. By using Lebanon as an outpost for terrorism, and innocent people as shields, Hezbollah has also engulfed that entire nation in violence and conflict, and threatened the fledgling movement for democracy there. “

OBAMA on Israel again
not enough????

“True Allies Do Not Walk Away

These are great challenges that we face. And in moments like these, true allies do not walk away. For six years, the administration has missed opportunities to increase the United States’ influence in the region and help Israel achieve the peace she wants and the security she needs. The time has come for us to seize those opportunities.

The Israeli people, and Prime Minister Olmert, have made clear that they are more than willing to negotiate an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that will result in two states living side by side in peace and security. “

Obama on Israel AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN…. … how about Korea? And the human rights in china? tibet? anyone?,…. didn t think so. Israel again…

ha ha ha

“True Allies Do Not Walk Away

These are great challenges that we face. And in moments like these, true allies do not walk away. For six years, the administration has missed opportunities to increase the United States’ influence in the region and help Israel achieve the peace she wants and the security she needs. Obama on his trip … where? need to guess?

“The Holy Land

Back in January of 2006, I made my first trip to the Holy Land. It is a place unlike any other on this earth – a place filled with so much promise of what we truly can be as people; a place where we’ve learned how in a flash, violence and hatred and intolerance can turn that promise to rubble and send too many lives to their early graves. “

Wowwwww….. I m shedding rivers of tears. A place filled with so much promise.. what has he watched from his helicopter? Guess again? ISRAEL!!!!!

OBAMA again:
“Our helicopter landed in the town of Kiryat Shmona on the border. What struck me first about the village was how familiar it looked.”…

Maybe he s an undercover jew .. from the way he talks i wouldn t be surprized..

and last but not least
Obama on RELIGION…. and guess who pops again into the topic…

“But what I am suggesting is this – secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglas, Abraham Lincoln, Williams Jennings Bryant, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King – indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history – were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause.

So to say that men and women should not inject their “personal morality” into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.”

JUDEO Christian…

wow wow wow wow never fail to mention it once… The JUDEO Christian religion is his core strength and he says he should be allowed to rule and bring it in the political life..

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU THAT ARE EUPHORIC. I AM JUST PLEASED. AND WORRIED STILL.

Q, you have taken my analogy out of context for reasons best known to yourself.

Adina, the points you have made are valid but remember, Obama had to tread a pretty careful line in order to get elected because the Jewish lobby wields a huge and disproportionate amount of power in America. They shouldn’t but they do!

I’m not too fussed by what he said over the last twenty months but I’m waiting with some optimism to see what he does.

Cheers.

Adina your points are well crafted from the facts, I am just glad that it is over for the conservatives at the moment, and am willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, for now.

I am rather worried though that Obama is willing to forgive and forget what the Bush administration has done to his own country, and to the world.

It only goes to show that they all serve the same master, and the duopoly that is American politics will remain.

I have watched some of the interviews from the members of the Bush administration, after Obama’s win,and they were palpable.Listening to Rice and Rove I nearly retched up my breakfast. What a load of condescending bastards these people are! they are an insult to the intelligence.Today a black king, yesterday a goat herding socialist, according to them.

They reckon a week is a long time in politics, more like 24 hrs.

The world is better off with the defeat of the neocons. Those warmongers were ready to goad McCain into attacking Iran.

Palin would have been putty in their hands if the old man croaked.

Phill, I too saw some stuff on Faux News that caused me to turn it off. The Rethugs certainly have a ‘born to rule’ mentality!

Dave, Bush might well be almost gone but the neocons remain. They will work continuously to blacken Obama and get themselves re-elected. It’ll be interesting to see how he and the American people handle the onslaught!

Cheers.

P.S. I did a bit of research on that Rahm Emanuel. He could well be problematic.

Adina – I didn’t like some of the things Obama was saying prior to his election as President but we have to be fair and judge him from what he does once he gets his hands on the reins.

David, Phill, Lucy,
I agree with you all.
I also apologize.
You know what, after David’s ‘what now” i felt so bad about myself.. I realized we should be allowed enjoy any little occasion we have to be euphoric.

It is only my bad mood that did not allow me to see I am not allowed to spoiled the celebration of each victory achieved, no matter how small.

Apologies to you my friends.
I m sure I spoiled some of the enthusiasm, and I apologize for that.

Also, I understand and agree with your points, I ll give the benefit of the doubt to Obama as well, and judge him after some time being president.
thanks to you all.

Adina, in your first, long comment, you spoke for me, and I am sorry you felt a need to then apologize and fold back. The USA had a chance to turn their back on the two party system, actually the War Party, but chose not to.

In his very first press interview, BO lied and said that Iran is building a nuclear weapon, and on Nightline, a tv show, after airing a clip of his saying this, they showed a cart somewhere pulling a covered object, which appeared to be a bomb. I hate Obama, and the neo-libs.

Strong words, Swan. The term neo-libs is rather scary.

I hope the world is not going to be disappointed by yet another American President.

We’ll know soon enough I guess!
