Friends, the 700 billion dollar rescue package has been passed. Yeah! We intelligent humans, temporarily, have rescued yet another deeply flawed system. Our world is full of them.
You’d think after ten millenia that the penny would drop, wouldn’t you? I mean, most species, if they got too near a fire, would avoid future fires. But not humans, oh no! We’re too smart for that. Just ask us, we’ll tell you. We just brush off the singed skin, apply a bit of ointment, and put our arm back in the fire again.
That’s why we are still fighting futile wars, destroying whole countries, raping and pillaging, killing millions, seeking power, control and money at any cost even if the victory is always pyrrhic. That why religious fraudsters still continue to battle each other, continue with their divisive, money-making deceptions, continue to enslave the minds of billions. That why flawed political systems are rarely changed or improved because those who profit from them don’t want their lucrative, power-grabbing game spoiled. Then there’s our lamentable financial/economic system.
That the current world financial/economic system is an abject failure is obvious to anyone who bothers to look. It is based upon greed, mega-greed. It is an elitist, dog-eat-dog system, one that profits the cunning and the unscrupulous and seriously disadvantages people with values, people with honesty, people whose lives do not revolve around accumulating buckets of money.
So, as the financial/economic system falters, begins to spin into the abyss, do we sit down and say, "Well, that didn’t work so let’s change it!" Of course not. The Masters of the Universe (also known as Naked Apes) instead try to prop up the failed, planet-destroying system (using taxpayers’ money), a corrupt system that generates enormous inequality, one that allows a few, parasitic, money-grubbing people to live in ultra-luxury while millions of others die of starvation and preventable diseases.
There are now 700 billion more reasons that show clearly how foolish we humans are, how incapable we are of thinking through a problem, how much we’re stupid creatures of habit, how easily we can be manipulated by the spin-doctors, how we never learn. Truly, we are our own worst enemies.
Evolution will pass us by. Soon.
We deserve it!
I don’t think it will last much longer, I really don’t.
I really think this financial crisis really is the begining of the end for the whole fial/money/interest based system.

Unless we change the flawed system, Crushed, that is a distinct possibility.
Propping it up just encourages more greed and foolishness and excessive risk taking.
Cheers.

It’ll never work, just like religion. Many don’t realize the manipulations used on them daily. ; (
Sad really!
Thanks for popping by and my best to you and your family!

I would like to think that we will learn from this financial mess and come up with something a bit more ethical and sustainable but deep down, i know that we will end up with the exact same system that has caused such misery this time.

It’s not only sad, Coffee, it’s a tragedy. And, once again, the poor will pay the price!
Lucy, it’s a tribute to our lack of intelligence as well as our inability to learn from history.
Cheers.

Mr. David Grayling:
Were you ever a Senior Lecturer or Professor of Philosophy at London University, UK, who wrote several excellent books for the general public?
Thanks

Solon, I wasn’t a Professor of Philosophy at London University. Thanks for the promotion anyway!
I don’t quite understand your second comment.
Cheers.
