Surely, if children were taught that all humans were equal and that all world citizens were entitled to an equal share of the world’s bounty and that war was despicable as was greed and that nationalism was dangerous and divisive as was religion, etc, the world would be a very different place.

I don’t think we have to have one because it is desireable. I think it just happens. Based on history it seems there is always one…

I mean, when the U.S. does drop to second or third, aren’t number 1 and 2 some pretty big honchos? Since they are likely to be China and Russia with an outside shot for Brazil and India, what are the odds that they won’t wield their power?

The only way the U.S. could be fairly be blamed for bringing down the rest of the world is to start a nuclear war (which is possible but unprobable).

Any other form of national suffering due to the fall of the U.S. is on the shoulders of those nations that chose to play with the U.S., not the U.S.

Many nations elected by free will to make the U.S. their primary consumer. Many by their own free will loaned money to the U.S. Many by their own free will elected to invest in the U.S.
