Adina Lan, I found your perspective illuminating. Here in America we have the illusion of "being free" within the system. Not so differnt when you boil it down to "being free" without the system. In the marketplace where all life is for sale and people themselves are for sale is like living in a ghost town. I knew when the architecture in the 1980'sand 90's started changing to accomodate people that are corn-fed and three times the size of the global citizen. The new malls that replaced the real towns look(ed) like movie sets of ghost towns on the outside. Your line, "being able to market presentably under a shiny colored wrapping and with lots of artificial flavorings an illusionary concept of FREEDOM" reminds me of a trip to a typical, local grocery store here in the U.S.A. Sometimes I wonder if we are just soylent green in the making. The sociopaths in charge sure have a captive audience on this little blue-green planet. Peace, peeps. G.

Dear David,
I m not a blogger. I wouldn t have bothered to comment, if your site didn t inspire me. Truly meant compliments for your self motto and for your work on this site.

As a further justification to my comments, having lived in Romania, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore and traveled extensively in many other countries, I realized that there are many many citizens of the world that in innocence and good will still watch foreign politics as an American Super Bowl, convinced that " yes, here it s bad, but somewhere else it s worst, let's fix'em" . Well, it is not better, it is not worst, that s just diversion tactics. That s why I say, Freedom doesn t exist in the physical plane. But it does, on a spiritual one. The more we stop fixing other people's problems, analyzing reality objectively and with unadulterated inputs, the more we realize the first freedom to gain comes from within. Only then you can inspire others, through example, not trough force, just like your site inspired me.

Your comment " I m a citizen of the world" moved me, as that is humbly my motto as well before reading yours. I just like to add to it "Non Globalized".. :) .. just to make sure.

Diversity is truly wonderful. We should keep it that way. Cultural exchange is truly wonderful. We shouldn t confound it with alignment.

As for the "religious shouldn t lead", Einstein I believe once said that the closest to a truly universal religion is Buddhism.. If only Buddhists or even Taoists (not the Burning-Stick-Chanting-Nonsense-Westernized-Direct-Network-Feng Shui type, but the truly true Buddhists / Taoists, more philosophers than religious) could rule the World...

Once again, forgive the length of my posts. Speaking to people whom I find on the same wavelength makes me a bit too euphoric and willing to share...:) :). Thank you!!!
Religious men should never be allowed to rule?

No objection from my side. Allow me to share with you some of my objective observations on two different worlds. I ve lived in the communism for many years. Communism did not allow religion. I was delighted to witness that when "revolution" came along... we suddenly became "free"...
Free world. Here I come!

Communism meant:
1.no passport - cannot travel.
2.no food - eat to survive
3.no freedom to speak - cannot speak
4.no religion - publicly, but churches everywhere
5.centralization - planning, economy, birthrate, media , etc etc
6. Work for the system
7. Sociopatic Megalomaniac - Biiiiig one. Ceausescu.

I ve then, like many others from the herd, experienced the revolution.. what a relief. What have I witnessed for the past 20 years after it?

Free world. Here i come!
1. Got passport - but NO VISAS from the civilized states. Travel Visas that is. Means your country lets you go out, but the "free countries" won t let you get in. - CANNOT TRAVEL. I m confused.
2. got food. - lots of dangerous food. Sprayed, tinted, sterilized, hydrogenized, irradiated, genetically manipulated. My cousin from US used to drool over real tomatoes during summer vacations in Romania. Food... Oi, Oi... Unfortunately, for the blessed freed citizens living in the ex communist countries, also Expensive. Do you know EU does not allow ex communist farmers to sell their cheese at the market place any longer? It is for our safety they say. So we import from Italy. Beware of the Codex Alimentarium. NO FOOD also. My confusion is growing.
3. can speak - but... there is a but. anyone who matters listens? Or does anything really change from the talking? Groups of protest? Been there, done that. Change a beast with a bigger one. - NON SENSE
4. Self proclaimed Laic states (no religion) - But somewhere, somehow, God and his son Jesus always jump in the dollar, in the picture, in the speeches, and in the POPE getting his hand licked by major political leaders around the worlds - Churches everywhere like mushrooms.
5. Centralization - sounds like WHO, WTO, IFM, this, and that..Globalization. Centralization...Name the difference.. I don t get it. And bare with me, FOOD again, my confusion is long, but Codex Alimentarium will regulate what you can eat or not and that vitamins are a NO-NO. Globally. WHO decides for you (that is W.H.O. not Who). I MEAN IT. Huh?
6. work for the system - here's the true difference! Here's true freedom. I can see it. I don t work for the system! In the free world you work ONLY for yourself! But.... you get taxed on EVERYTHING. Trust me, now you re paying the water that you drink , soon you ll gonna buy your share of air. Tax on the grave, on every move you make, through the road tax, through the fuel tax, tax on the school, on the savings, on the investments in which you risk your OWN MONEY saved after you already payed TAX, get taxed again.. that if you win in the, YES, MANIPULATED market, Dow, Petrol, I m watching you.. and unfortunately I have a brain. But if you lose... well shame on you.. we told you in small letters, very very small ones, in the disclaimer down there at the bottom of the page, that financial markets are risky deal.(Manipulated deal I d rather say). So, who you think you are, little arrogant investor, to mess with the markets? You make money out of your savings? Tax on you again. You lose? Shame on you. No, no, no, this looks like working for the system to me.... but don t mind me, I m just a stupid ex communist, and you can hunt me down any time, proving that I have been initiated in the 5th grade elementary school, when I got my first Little Communists Aspirants Badge... So I m a Red in disguise.. threatening the world's freedom through propagandistic communist statements. he he he. Isn t freedom beautiful?
7. SOCIOPATIC MEGALOMANIAC - Say what? NOT ONE. TOO MANY!

Forgive the length, there are more things to say. But protest groups? The solution is not an external revolution. There is no doubt :across the history the majority of us are mere slaves, under various pretexts. Today's Doomsday Hour has nothing special in it, except for one exquisite quality: being able to market presentably under a shiny colored wrapping and with lots of artificial flavorings an illusionary concept of FREEDOM. As far as concerns my personal opinion, Freedom is just as UTOPIC on a physical plane as an Unicorn.

P.S. and I almost forgot the CLAPS. Ceausescu liked Claps! We were clapping. But free world is also clapping, elections, speeches, pope visiting, Clap clap clap.
P.P.S.(forgive my globalized-English errors. Not my native language.)

David, you have a point, that the quality of strong religiosity in a person seeking public office, is a red flag! Short of being mystics, most professional politicians are more akin to snake oil salesmen. They always want us to take their word for it. But, their word changes with the direction of the winds. Religious leaders are often times the same. People are encouraged to take someones word for it. The word of God, was written by men; many men over the course of hundreds and thousands of years. The story morphs. Any person who takes spiritual teachings seriously would not be engaging in war and sanction induced famines, walls to keep out an entire culture and people, torture! and many other horrible man-made atrocities. In fact the more I read, I suspect that many who seek these seats of power have no conscience like you and me. These are sociopathic people who are unable to feel empathy. They will find out what people want and tell them that in order to manipulate and destroy. A person like that is also deranged.

"For example, if I said I believed 100% in Santa and claimed that he made the world not god, and that, when I died, if I was good, I would become an immortal reindeer delivering presents each Xmas, I would be locked up!"

David, please tell me it isn't so, no Santa, heavens to murgatroyed, and all these years I have been living a lie.

My children will be disappointed, when I tell them.

Religion the opiate of the masses, old Karl was right on the money. You know, if I live to be two hundred, I will never understand how the masses were hoodwinked, into believing the fairy story that all religion truly is.

I was watching CNN the other week, and they did a story on a one Kenneth Copeland,a prominent tele evangelist.

Who has all the sincerity of a used car salesman.

Well anyhoo he just took delivery of a multi million dollar jet, to take the "word" to the masses around the world. They also showed you his ranch nearby said plane, for want of a better word, it made Micheal Jacksons pad, look like a Chinese doss house.

The masses that attended the christening of said Lear Jet,were staggering, the shmucks were tripping over each other, to give the shyster more of their hard earned.

It is just little snippets like this, that every time you think the world is making progress to a new awakening, POW another step backwards to the abyss of ignorance.
Grace, a strong case could be made that someone who has strong religious beliefs (based upon no evidence whatsoever) and allows those beliefs to strongly influence the direction of their lives is deranged.
Religious belief is no less farcical.

There was a time that people feared JFK for president because he was a Catholic, he turned out all right as far as we know, but then that was also a time when it was gauche to ask a person who they were going to vote for in an election. IOW, people were entitled to their own beliefs without having to explain or justify and that used to be the way people wanted it. In that blip of time that was the American democracy, people were free. Sometimes it seems all the fear that is generated these days is a self fulfilling prophecy. And sure, these religious freaks trying to take over the show are like drunks at the wheel and we are bystanders in a very dangerous human created situation. God gave us Heaven on Earth, we are all all equals among one another. This need to Lord it over others is out of hand. I had people in my family like that. Hm.

I didnt see Rudd fawning over the Pope, but I know the score. Over here we get Bush walking thru the tulips, holding hands and smiling with Saudis, shortly after 9/11/2001. The list would be too long if I listed all the embarrassing encounters that go on amongst politicians, oops, I mean Leaders of the "Free World."

Phill, the problem with religious types is that they have consciously allowed their minds to be possessed by superstition. The deeper their belief, the less rational they are, the more they live lives of unreality.

When you have the most powerful man in the world expressing the view that he talks to his god and that his god answers him and sends him on missions then the true madness of religion is exposed for all to see.

Ninglun, looking at Rudd fawning all over the Pope made me feel sick. If he wants to be deeply religious then, like the Pope, let him join a Church and become a cleric. Religion and politics are supposed to be kept separate!

+ The Dalai Lama, William Wilberforce, and so on?

Depends on the religion, depends on the person, depends on what wisdom they may have.

I think you are too harsh on Rudd. He is better than what went before, of imperfect.

One could list the non-religious too that one could do without: Pol Pot, Robert Mugabe, Joseph Stalin, and so on...

Beware generalisation, David.
