An Exercise In Madness!

Friends, you may have missed the news about an exercise recently carried out by Israel in the east Mediterranean. It involved fighters and bombers and helicopters traversing a distance roughly equal to a flight to Iran and back. What a coincidence, eh?

The exercise, according to Al Jazeera, involved 100+ Israeli F-16s and F-15s and an unknown number of American aircraft. It involved refueling exercises which may have been to get ready for rescue missions to be launched to look for downed aircraft and pilots (that suggests they think the Iranians might fight back if they are attacked. Fancy that!). Can you imagine the greenhouse gases which the ‘training mission’ must’ve generated!

Now if you’re as suspicious as I am about the Machiavellian, imperialist ambitions of America and its proxy Israel, you could think that an attack on Iran is on the table, may in fact be ready to take off, nukes at the ready. In fact you could even think that Israel’s sudden ‘truce’ with Hamas has been hastily cobbled together so that Israel won’t have a war on two fronts.

Further, you might think that the recent news of the planned movement of the big American oil companies into Iraq which involves no-bid contracts might signal that the invasion and occupation of Iraq has finally achieved its purpose: that of ensuring not only that America has lots of permanent military bases there but it will have virtual control of Iraq’s oil. There must be a lot of back-slapping going on in Washington.

Now call me cynical if you will but an attack on Iran under the guise of protecting Israel’s security will give America potential control of another rich oil supply, again disguised by the false claim that they are bringing freedom and democracy to the Iranians. Beware of Americans bearing freedom and democracy, I say!  Run for your life!

But, excuse me, I thought that oil and other fossil fuels were generating global warming, that it was destroying our world. Why then is America seeking to gain control of more oilfields in the Middle East and Africa?

Could it be that oil will continue to be used? Could it be that the interests of oil companies and the multitude of polluting industries associated with them (including the armament manufacturers) are taking precedence over the proven dangers of global warming and the probabilities of mass starvation, no drinking water, rising sea levels, floods and droughts, etc?

An attack on Iran is madness. Continuing to use oil and fossil fuels is madness. Continuing with capitalism and greed and imperialism and war is sheer madness.

Surely it’s time that we, the people, stopped the madness and took back our world!

Yes David, I dont know how exactly, maybe mother Earth herself will help us, but we need to arrrest control of this nation and planet from the madmen and women that are ‘bringin on’ the End of the World. These are sociopaths who have methodically worked towards their ends and have succeeded thus far. I must say it is getting too existential for me, these pro-torture sociopaths, now intent on nuclear! bombing a beautiful people and city of a souvereign nation. WTF. They say blood must be shed to water the tree of Liberty. I count myself a true America lover and this travesty, this gradual imperialistic takeover of the American Constitution, Geneva Conventions, Pre-Emptive Shock and Aweful, and morals in general! It may come time soon where it is up to the whole world to rise up for what is right. Like the polar bear and others too – tho the bears are often an apt symbol for the effects of our actions – the animals belong to nobody and yet they are all of our heritage and ours to save. Nobody is going to get out of this unscathed. The Europeans thought they could just watch us and our own demise. Unfortunately, the Beast will take all down with it. Everybody has a stake in this fight and it is going to take all to fight this fight. Its a tough concept for peacelovers. Somehow, someway we have to slay this beast. Use the tools that were given us. Impeachment , citizens arrest, somehow the Bush Principals criminals must be made an example of to ultimately liberate and save our very planet. We already have solar, wind and water technology to save the world – and a terrific Constitution that works great when actually honored. That is the direction we need to go in. I’ll jump off the stump now. Pass the speaking stick, sts. Thanks David, hope you are doing well.

I’m always encouraged when people like you speak out, Grace. If only there were more of us!

Thanks, I know what you mean. Sometimes the feeling of isolation I feel in the midst of such grave news of the state of the world and all life on it, I feel reflected in your sentiments. In my own life, I feel much more alone than I should. People that I am close to I can speak about global, national affairs with, but strangers and the people I need to socialize with for work and for my son, there seems to be no common ground on the things that matter. Of course I dont talk about it much either because of my own reasons being in a very elitist, establishment sort of area I am living in. I dont want to draw any undue attention and make my son’s life harder than it needs to be, he is only six, but the wheels of social higherarchy at well greased. I am seriously thinking of putting him in a less-good school to get away from this aspect of life that I constantly am confronted with. I dont know if keeping him in with elitists will be a problem or will serve him in the long run. It is not a private school, but it is a distinguished school. Sorry to go on, but these things are on my mind. In fact some things that you have written in recent months about church and educating the young mind.. have resonated with some experiences these past few years. I am glad it is summer vacation. I have more control about his influences, and we get to spend alot of time together. This is a precious time. Peace. Happy First Day of Summer Everyone!

Your son is lucky to have a mother like you, Grace. Most children are not so lucky.

The fact that most of the world’s people are indoctrinated, non-questioning sheeple is the main reason why the world is as it is!

And those who rule us want it to remain that way. Cheers.

It was when i read about Israel holding talks with Syria that i began to wonder about their motives. As Syria and Iraq have a defensive pact so that if one is attacked, the other allies with it, i reached the same conclusion as you about not wanting to fight on two fronts.

There are many groups of people in this world that I wouldn’t trust, Lucy.

Probably the least trustworthy are the Israelis. They will do and say anything to achieve their deranged agenda!

What a weird world we do all live in.We have, on the one hand, Condoleezza Rice waxing lyrical about the rape and violence visited on women in war, and at the same time, being part of an administration, that has its pilots bomb them from 30000ft,.put your own figure on how many are killed. But that is not their intention of course, the ones that die are not human, they are collateral damage, statistics for Generals to play around with, and forward on to a compliant media, that dazzles the public with smarmy news anchors, who have all the credibility of a snake oil salesman.

How many women that may be killed by any attack on Iran will of course not matter, after all they are no doubt colluding with their men folk to make nuclear weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction, like Kashmir jumpers.

Yes David, for mine an attack on Iran is in the pipe line,it is probably George Bushes going away present. The sad part is, this imbecile, before becoming POTUS wouldn’t have a clue where Iran was.

And if the man was put on a spot, I doubt he could find it on a map with out a tele prompter. How in Gods name the American people,a nation of can do,leaders in science, and contrary to your own thoughts, generous to a fault, put this jibbering idiot in power, beggars belief.

I am so ashamed of the USA and of Israel. Thank you for acknowledging what we are about to do, and questioning how we can be stopped.

Hey Phill, it does beggar belief. It suggests to me a complete failure in their education system, one caused by heavy nationalistic and religious indoctrination.

Anti-neocon, it gives me no pleasure to highlight the gross failings of America and Israel. With global warming heading our way we have enough problems on our plate without two imperial nations threatening to use nukes on a nation that has none!

Cheers.

The American scramble to control the world’s oil and other resources is not a sign of strength; it is a sign of fear. We Americans have been top dog for so long that just the thought of needing to share the world’s resources with the rest of humanity is scary beyond imagination.

For some reason many Americans feel that we deserve to consume the lion’s share of the world’s finite resources. This attitude of self importance will gradually turn the rest of the planet against us.

We Americans need to realize that it is much more productive to make friends that to make enemies.

We need a new caliber of leaders who can see the value of international cooperation and diplomacy.

It has been shown throughout history that the masses can be controlled by effective propaganda. The masses take marching orders from their leaders. This is not in itself a bad thing.

Societies are based on a top down structure. Our leaders present us with their goals and ideas and we of the masses proceed to achieve those goals and ideas as best we can.

The problem lies with the goals and ideas provided by our leaders. Most leaders are more interested in personal gain and therefore their goals and ideas are designed to keep them in power more so than to be beneficial to the masses. Mugabe in Zimbabwe is a prime example.

You might suggest that the masses should rise up and throw out such leaders. That is much easier said than done. And even if said upraising is successful all that really happens is, you replace one group of bad leaders with another.

The only way we humans are going to pull back from the brink is for our leaders to realize that good governance would benefit them as a group.

Our leaders must come to the realization that a destroyed planet would be bad for them as well as the masses.

The way to do this is to hammer away at the destructive manner in which our leaders are running the world. We must continuously present evidence and examples of how counterproductive their shellfish policies are.

Once our leaders realize they are digging not only the graves of the masses but their own graves as well then and only then will we see a change in how our leaders manage planet earth.

But then, maybe not……

Sadly, David, those possessed by religion, greed and/or a lust for power do not care about the ramifications of what they do.
They live only for the moment, their ‘glorious’ moment!

Cheers.

At work today, one of my employees was commenting to another about the price of gas. I said, in passing, “you mean the price of oil.” She said, “well same thing.” I said “the price of gas is only one part of the equation. Food costs are going up, in part, because it costs more for the farmers to harvest, as their tractors use gas too. It costs more to drive the grain to market for same reason. It costs the packagers and manufacturers more to create the food products because oil is used in their production and in the plastic packaging they come in. The truckers pay more in diesel fuel to get the products to the grocery store. The plastic bags the groceries go in is made from petroleum. It all adds up.” She said “well, I guess so. I suppose we need to stop using oil and go with renewable energy.” I pointed to the plastic bottled water she was drinking and said “that bottle is made from petroleum. Why do you drink it?” She said “I really need to cut back, I know.” An hour later she was drinking another bottled water. I smiled at her and said “when are you gonna start?” She laughed.

Another co-worker and I were on break later and he mentioned the imminent attack on Iran, and how stupid it was. “Just like Iraq was stupid,” said I. “Well, we should really get out of there,” he said. “We did what we meant to do, we got rid of Saddam. The Iraqis are free now.” I said “so you think it was right to attack Iraq, but wrong to stay so long?” He said yes. I pointed out that attacking a country that has not attacked you is a war crime, in violation of the UN Charter, the Geneva Conventions, and the Nuremburg Charter – and thus in violation of the US Constitution, since we are signatories of those treaties. He just shrugged, and said “whatever.”

On my way out to the parking lot, my employee from the earlier conversation got into her Chevy Suburban, which might get 10 miles to the gallon when coasting downhill.

This is just one day, talking to 2 people. There are hundreds more like them in the course of a month with others. In one building. In one little town. I’m sure you all have hundreds of examples yourself. Now multiply it by tens of millions, day in and day out, and you get the picture: too many people – Americans moreso than any other country – are just too damned lazy or can’t be bothered to make the necessary changes to their lifestyles to make a difference, to start to steer the ship away from the iceberg ahead. Or they still drink the kool-aid, or they still buy the government propaganda.

It is hopeless. There are simply too many sheeple in America and the world. It simply cannot happen to them, no matter what they hear and see around them.

I do my part, and I’ll do more. I know there are many more in the world who do, and do far more than I. But the numbers of the compliant and ignorant are just too overwhelming. Billions.

We are on – to quote David from another article – a road to hell. And we are stomping the pedal to the metal all the way.

I fear you’re right, Demon. It’s ironic really. Despite education, our masters think only of short-term gain and the sheeple are, in the main, happy with their bread, circuses and cask wine.

Then when has it been any different?

Why don’t they pass a law that requires shoppers to have their own grocery bags, you know, the ones made of canvas, mesh, or whatever kind of cloth they prefer. They could get a couple of them and then take it to the grocery store to put food in instead of plastic bags. If they have a large order of food, then they can be put into cardboard boxes, but no more plastic bags.

Problem is… nearly everything we use today is oil based. Plastics are oil based. Linoleum floors. Clothing. Autos. Computers. Televisions. Sunglasses. CDs. DVDs. Weapons. Ships. Furniture. Clothing. Lightbulbs. Lamps. Medical equipment. Pills. Solar panels. Windmills. etc, etc, etc… We must find an alternative soon or, as you so eloquently point out, it will be chosen for us.

“Probably the least trustworthy are the Israelis. They will do and say anything to achieve their deranged agenda!”

Now that’s an enlightened statement, something like a bell that doesn’t ring! Israel like all other countries has its interests. You might not like their interests, just as you probably don’t like big oil interests or fiat money interests ie privately owned Central Bank/Federal Reserve. Moaning and growning about special interests accomplishes about as much as pissing into the wind.

Zionism’s 15 minutes of fame came when the British government published the Balfour Declaration and the UN voted in ’48 accepting the Jewish right to self determination.

Israel, that little pup, is an ally to the US. The Arab states during the Cold War sided with the USSR. Prior to that the Arabs supported the Axis and the Nazi war agenda concerning the “Jewish Question”. So I really don’t understand this line of church: “Probably the least trustworthy”. Israel bombed the Iraqi power station and America put a Jewish American spy in jail going on 25 years.
