I hope that this post won’t upset you, I really do, but you need to face the truth about this world and its values. You are worth nothing but your car is!
Now I know you’ll demand that I provide proof of this unfortunate state of affairs and I will. First of all, your car has value. You’ll realize that when you go to insure it (but not when it comes to an insurance payout should you damage it). Then try and get a valuation on yourself. No one will value you because you have no value! There are six and a half billion others almost exactly like you and they’re worth nothing either!
Next, look at your car. In the main, it has better accommodation than many of the world’s people. It gets serviced regularly whereas many of the world’s people get no servicing at all from doctors, dentists, etc. Your car, especially if it’s a prestige one, get washed each week, dried off lovingly, vacuumed, polished, whereas many of the world’s people have no clean water to drink let alone wash in.
Next let us look at gasoline. The price of oil has gone through the roof. There is talk of further shortages, even higher prices. Despite the fact that vehicles emit greenhouse gases which cause dangerous global warming and that the price of gas is nearly the same as good whiskey, has this stopped the car in its tracks? No way! Unscrupulous people are now taking food crops which could feed the world’s starving and converting it into a form of gasoline which allows vehicles to continue to be used freely. Are you starting to get the picture? Humans are expendable but vehicles aren’t!
No, folks, we have to keep the oil and car industries going in order to make a few fabulously rich people even richer (the same thinking applies to the coal and mining industry too to say nothing of the profitable armament industry which relies on endless war).
So, having put things in perspective, now I want you to go over to your garage and, with reverence, bow down to your car. It has good looks, it is shiny, and it allows you to drive it. Because of Henry Ford, it is more important than you. It’s survival is of more concern to those who run this world than yours. And it has real value in this world. You don’t!
Perhaps you should consider lighting a few candles in the garage, turn it into a shrine!
P.S. Please check the fine print in your insurance policy first.
That’s why I don’t own a car. I’ll be damned before I’m upstaged by a couple-o-tons of metal and plastic.

In our crazy capitalist world, Kvatch, things have value, humans have none! We only need humans to make then consume evermore things.
Humans are the slaves of things and those who control the making of things.

i haven’t owned a Car in 10 years. Not a single State in the US would survive without the Tax on cars, and everything else associated with them. Insurance?? ahahhaha another scam…and on and on… Let alone Co2 poisoning of the Atmosphere.
Well said David G.

Great point David
This, however, might just give us all some hope: cars that do not use gas and are powered by the sun or wind. And you can actually buy one!

In the meantime, I am off to burn some incense in my garage, and install a prayer-mat in front of my front grille…

Welcome, Norm. Perhaps nature has worked out the car has more chance of survival than humans!
Demon, I’m glad you’ve got things in perspective. Everything has its rightful place!

It is the love of our cars, big brother,in our case Australian idol, hamburgers, and all the chicken you can eat Ah vey!
BUT I DIGRESS.
Well hows Rudds form this morning? He is going to see what he can do about the Mullahs and other assorted religious nut jobs denying the “Holocaust”, through some international organization “yet to be decided”
Anyone who thinks a whack on Iran is not in the pipeline has got his own head shoved up his arse. This man has only been in power six months and already you can see he is captive to the Neocon nut jobs in the U.S.I BLOODY DESPAIR.
Australia is going to be right onside with the next disaster being dreamed up by Bush and the coterie of religious whackos, and that is money in the bank.
The financial crash just over the horizon is well understood by the capitalists, and war has always bee their panacea.
We have a lot more to worry about than our moter vehicles, that shrine David, may be needed to pray for other miracles.
Sorry a bit off topic.

Don’t despair, Phil. That’s my job!
Keep in mind that Rudd’s been trained as a diplomat so he’s used to playing both ends against the middle AND he also has Buddhist leanings. Surely these two factors will serve Australia well.
We can but hope!
