Saving America!

Though America, via its current deranged, imperialist leadership, could soon create circumstances which will inevitably lead to the end of our world, it does have a nucleus of people who, given the right environment, could turn the country around. Understanding this, surely we who live in the free world must try to help America to save itself because, in so doing, we will save ourselves.
I use the term ‘free world’ deliberately because, currently, America is not free in the normal sense of the word. Its citizens are under observation by the state and their freedoms are being curtailed; its seriously unintelligent President is acting more and more like a tyrant everyday; its politicians don’t represent the people but their own self-interest and/or that of religious and corporate lobby groups; those in Congress and the Senate are profiting mightily from the wars they keep initiating and supporting, etc.
So how can we from the free world assist those decent Americans who deplore what their country has become and where it is headed? I have listed four points that, if implemented, will bring pressure to bear on the American Government. How it would react to this pressure is unknown but, if those who’re pulling America’s strings can see that the game is up and that the rest of the world is prepared to stand up to them, chances are that they’ll back off. This would hopefully give time for badly needed changes to be made to the American political system which in turn would hopefully lead to a more representative, peaceable government. The four unranked points are:
1. The undertaking of large scale, world-wide protests against the ambitions and actions of the current American regime which involve invasion and occupation of sovereign countries which do not threaten America. Massive devastation and killing accompanies these invasions which are often more about securing scarce economic resources than the completely false claims of promoting freedom and democracy. Currently the nuking of Iran is on the table and it is that which will have catastrophic implications for the world’s survival should it occur. We must speak out and condemn in the strongest terms all imperial actions being undertaken or considered by the U.S.
2. The undertaking of a boycott against all American companies until the American Government and its corporate henchmen back off. Taking the profit out of the till is something that will cause many in America to think about their actions and the negative impact of those actions on the world and its people. Global warming is but one example.
3. Pressing our own governments to stop funds going to American armament companies. As most people know, much of America’s giant manufacturing industry is involved in making arms. The result is that the whole world is awash in weapons of war and, of course, surprise, surprise, America is heavily involved in war-mongering which keeps its industries at full capacity. If we could push those armament firms towards bankruptcy then they might move towards making products that have a more peaceful purpose.
4. Urging our nations to recognize the danger that an out-of-control America poses to the world and giving our leaders encouragement to unite together to block all further American militaristic, strategic and economic designs on our world. 300 million Americans do not have the right to dictate how six billion other people should live nor do they have any right to take resources which rightfully belong to others!
Do you think these ideas would work or are you of the view that we’ve passed the point of no return? If you still have hope, do you think my four points have merit? If so, which ones would work best?
I’m sure you have some ideas yourself on how we in the free world might help decent Americans to save their country from the Axis of Evil that dwells in Washington and in boardrooms and churches across the U.S.
Let’s have a conversation about how to Save America. Our lives depend upon it!

David, this provides the basis of American comfort. To stop armament, is as if to ask Americans to give up their cars!
Weapons are the greatest American export; and so is war. coincidence? naaah!

Every society is divided between “lovers”, “haters”, and the majority who are only focused on their own, little, personal world. The “haters” in one country feed off the “haters” in other countries. The “lovers” need to disarm the “haters”. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Lech Walesa, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, the Burmese monks; these are people who have used or tried to use non-violent people power to disarm the haters. Protesting U.S. militarism isn’t going to do it. We need thousands of people outside the White House and the Capitol, taking over the buildings, shutting down the government, refusing to move, and making citizens arrests of our leaders. It’s been done in other countries, and it’s worked. However, the current administration’s days are probably numbered. People are hoping Obama will turn things around, and he might. But if there isn’t an orderly, electoral change of course, it’s time for People Power!

Weapons are the greatest American export…
Arms sales are only a very small proportion of the US export economy. In 2005 the US sold $7.9 billion in arms overseas out of total export sales of $1.283 trillion. Armaments sales were equal to less than 1% of US exports.
It’s also worth noting that since 2000 the US has only increased its arms exports by around 6% while Russia has increased its exports by more than 60% and Germany has increased its arms exports by more than 230%. Between them German and Russian arms exports outnumber the US by about 4 to 3 – and that’s only considering the top three countries.
Further, not only are arms a small part of of the US economy, the US share of the international arms trade is (in relative terms) shrinking and – in total – is only $5 billion more than the total Russian arms trade for the period since 2000.

Naj, America may have to be forced to give up its dubious status. An insatiable pig at a trough has to be driven away!
Ed, I’ve been agitating for Americans to rise up for a long time. I’m now unsure just how upset the majority of them are about the current situation. With pressure being applied by the rest of the world perhaps more might find the courage to take their country back.
Dylan, America is responsible for 65% of the world’s arms sales and most of the wars currently occurring in the world. I know you adopt the role of supporting America no matter what it does but sometimes it gets a bit tedious and, given the danger that American imperialism poses, it is quite mischievous and counterproductive!
Cheers to all.

I was just reading your 4 point plan it is right on the money, I live in america/amerika and 70% of the american people are fed up with this administration, the congress and the senate they are not listening to us, we the people. This administration has even used depleated uranium in Irag and afganistan and as much that has been exposed about this this group that is running this country have become arrogant about their wrong doings and the american people are fed up

If the global community of governments were rational, honest and just, then they would have at least imposed sanctions against the US by now. However, due to the overarching influence of multinational corporations, most governments are infected by the same corporatist virus. They all dance to the fiddle of the big money boys. Everyone’s freedom worldwide is threatened by the beast of corporatism.
Our appeals for rescue may need to be extended to extraterrestrials.

It sounds good to me. However, it is doubtful that the people will rise en masse. The last demonstrations brought out only a handful. Polls indicate that Bush is in the pits, bloggers by the thousands rail against him and his policies, conversations throughout America elicit disgruntled opinions – yet there is little rebellion. I think 1). too many people are counting on the new puppet in the White House to save us. A futile hope; Obama is backed by Wall Street so what does that tell you where his loyalty/obligations lie? Billary is a Bush clone and so is Bomb-Bomb-Bomb Iran War Hawk McCain.
The administration DID learn ONE thing from the Vietnam War – drafting America’s sons and the resulting media coverage of body bags to too many familes (over 52,000 dead) helped stimulate the revolts. Now, even though there is talk of renewing the draft and to include America’s daughters, the adminstration has not yet acted on the suggestions. Instead they offer greater enticements to increase enlistments and Bush even talks about recruiting foreign troops into the American military to gain the necessary cannon fodder.
Perhaps another reason for so little public dissent is Bush’s not so veiled threats that dissent = treason = death penalty and HE is the Decider. Although my family at large is unaware of my political blogs, the few that do know are uneasy and one grandson grows more restive and vociferous in his efforts to get me to stop. He fears repercussions from the government. Fear is a great deterrent to dissent.
The Hitler copy-cat is succeeding in many ways.

Yet that’s not what naj said is it, David? That 65% yu cite must include everyyhing they sell to themselves as it is clear they are less than half of the world’s exported arms. Go back and read naj’s comment and you’ll also see the claim that arms are America’s greatest export and – clearly – they aren’t. Your bluster is misplaced but unsurprising.

But David, aren’t your points and the associated actions predicated on the notion that America is worth saving? I would assert that the most important things about the United States are abstract notions of equal opportunity and the very concrete ideas put forward in our Constitution.
Now…if we Americans have abandoned both, as it appears we have, then maybe it’s time for other nations to take up where we left off? Moreover, if some of the sweeping generalizations about Americans in these comments…
To stop armament, is as if to ask Americans to give up their cars!
…are to be believed, then it doesn’t seem to me as if there are many readers here who give a damn if Americans are able to take back their government or not.

Kvatch makes some poignant points… is it worth saving, or even possible to rescue, a nation that has lost its way to such a horrifying degree?
I’d agree the few elements left of the “American dream” are the abstract ideals upon which this country was founded not very long ago. How did we lose our way? Did greed simply get the better of us? (rhetorical question)
One of the more frustrating elements of our situation, which started long before W but seems to be coming to a head during his completely misguided “leadership,” is that those of us who want dramatic change– and there are many– don’t know how to go about it.
How does one fight a monster as powerful as Big Government? The typical answer is “vote for change,” but, let’s face it, our next president, be it Obama, Clinton or McCain, might have the right ideals, but will still be faced with a system completely entangled with itself.
Is America worth saving? Sure. Can it be saved from itself? I really do wonder sometimes.

The neocons have been behind most of the critical political changes in american foreign policy since the early 1970s and yet, politically, they remained completely invisible for almost thirty years. For instance, the jewish lobby in america, and the “state” of israel, were responsible for pushing america and britain into the first gulf war. With the exception of patrick buchanan’s remarks about the jewish amen corner, no commentator discussed the neocons’ role in triggering this war or the subsequent sanctions against iraq. However, america’s invasion of iraq in 2003 has brought about a significant political change. There has been a dramatic increase in the number of commentators criticizing the likudnik traitors at the heart of the bush administration who initiated america’s invasion of iraq.
The invasion of iraq has also contributed to the disintegration of the left in both america and britain. The left has preferred to vote for right wing, pro-war, parties such as the democratic party in america and the labour party in britain, rather than for anti-war alternatives. Radicals ought now to give serious consideration to abandoning these allegedly left-wing political parties to form an alliance with those on the right of the political spectrum not merely to oppose the iraq war, and a possible war against iran, but to combat the jewish elite which is pushing america, and britain, into more proxy zionist wars.
Iraq Not an Imperialist War
In the run up to the invasion of iraq, few of america’s military leaders supported the neocon propositions that american troops would be welcomed in iraq as liberators and that the country could be occupied with only a minimal military force. American military leaders may have wanted the war to flex their military muscles and to boost american imperial power but they didn’t want it on the terms imposed on them by the neocons because they believed, correctly as it turns out, they wouldn’t have enough troops to control the country. “This is no doubt a sore spot for the White House: opposition from American’s military leaders to the Iraq adventure made headlines in the run-up to war, and their continuing objection to this administration’s policy of unconstrained aggression was summed up in the remark of a retired general to the Washington Times: “The Army is just too small for what they want it to do.”" (Justin Raimondo ‘Bush Against the Generals’ http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=6938).
The american military was pushed, against its better judgement, into this war by neocons and is now suffering grievously in terms of military losses and military prestige. There are huge political differences between the vietnam war and the iraq war – there were massive anti-war protests throughout the vietnam war whereas as regards iraq anti-war protests virtually stopped after the invasion. Militarily, however, the wars themselves are almost identical. In both cases the american military invaded a foreign country and found itself being humiliated by a rag-tag army of volunteers. And everything it does to combat the enemy makes it look even more barbaric. The consequence is that the american military faces the same humiliation in iraq that it suffered in vietnam. “The fact that America faces as big a national humiliation as it endured in Vietnam is not one much discussed.” (Alexander Cockburn http://www.counterpunch.org/cockburn07302005.html). The war crimes being committed by the american military in iraq are just as morally disgusting as those it perpetrated in vietnam. Perhaps it is too much to expect patriotic americans to be ashamed of the war crimes being committed on their behalf but the world is appalled and revolted by what the american military is doing. Perhaps if so-called american patriots had experienced shame over what the american military did in vietnam they would have been too fearful to support the invasion of iraq and wouldn’t now be suffering so grieviously for the wounds being inflicted on their country by this jewish neocon inspired war.
Not a War for Democracy
The sole reason put forward by the bush administration for the invasion of iraq was the military threat posed by saddam hussein. The neocons fantasized that saddam could use inter-continental drones to deliver weapons of mass destruction to attack the united states and britain.
The idea of exporting democracy to iraq was put forward by neocons prior to the invasion of iraq but it played little role in persuading americans to support the invasion. The idea became popular only after al sistani forced the americans into accepting the need for national elections in iraq. The bush administration started promoting such an idea primarily to rationalize the change in policy that resulted from sistani’s ultimatum.
The muslim world is politically backward because of american domination of the region. That domination stretches back nearly 50 years starting in 1953 with the overthrow of the democratically elected leader of iran. For the last half century, america has propped up every reactionary regime in the middle east preventing any democracy from emerging. The neocon idea of invading islamic countries to establish democracy is a complete fabrication because all they are interested in is the invasion side of the equation. That americans are gullible enough to believe such lies just goes to show the power of the neocons in moulding american minds.
The Iraq war is a Zionist Proxy War
There were a lot of arguments against the invasion of iraq. It is almost impossible for opponents to a war to rally around a truthful, and popular, objection when such a war is being promoted by a flood of state-sponsored lies. National security and intelligence analyst john prados in his book ‘Hoodwinked’ describes the Bush “scheme to convince America and the world that war with Iraq was necessary and urgent” as “a case study in government dishonesty … that required patently untrue public statements and egregious manipulation of intelligence.” The neocons knew they could build up an unstoppable momentum for war simply by getting the president and his cabinet to utter a succession of lies to win public approval for their plan to invade iraq. The reason the american public is currently turning against the iraq war is because these lies e.g. about wmd, have been exposed. It was jewish neocons who were primarily responsible for manipulating america into what is a re-run of the disastrous vietnam war. Most americans completely failed to spot the blatant deceptions being perpetrated on them by the neocons in the media and congress. Traitors to america, are driving america into political, moral, and financial, bankruptcy. “The neocons are parasites. They build nothing. They bring nothing. They don’t have a foundation. They don’t stand for business. They don’t stand for ideology. They use a host to facilitate and grow their own power. They are parasites that latch onto oil until it is no longer convenient. They latch on to democracy until it is no longer convenient.” (Scott Ritter quoted in Larisa Alexandrovna’s ‘Scott Ritter: Neocons as Parasites’.
The Disintegration of the Left
The disintegration of the left can be appreciated through a number of developments. Firstly, in both america and britain, the collapse of the anti-war movement. Secondly, in the 2004 presidential campaign in america, many of those on the left refused to support nader’s anti-war campaign because they believed it was imperative to elect john kerry, a pro-war democratic candidate, rather than face another four years of george bush. Six months later their british counterparts ended up doing exactly the same thing – voting for the pro-war labour party. Thirdly, the left’s refusal to organize sanctions against the jews-only state. And, finally, the left’s refusal to expose the jewish traitors running the american political system.
Is it a coincidence that the left has disintegrated in america, britain, and the jews-only state in palestine? Of course not. Jews dominate the left in all three countries. It is their traitorous commitment to the racist jews-only state and the so-called peace process, that has brought about this collapse. Basically the jewish left in america and britain have been taking their cue from the jewish left in the jews-only state in palestine. Many left wing jews in america and britain opposed the invasion of iraq, but once it had happened they were happy to see the end of saddam’s threat to the jews-only state and the disintegration of iraq. There is no anti-war protest movement in america and britain because jewish left wingers are not willing to organize them given that the jews-only state in palestine is politically benefitting from the war so much – despite the military and financial losses being suffered by america and britain because of the war.
The Need to put Anti-Zionism at the top of the Political Agenda
Since the start of america’s zionist proxy war against iraq, the main political battle has not been between republicans and democrats (or, in britain, between labour and tories) but between pro-zionists, who want more wars around the middle east (as well as the expulsion of palestinians from their homeland) and increasing numbers of anti-zionists.
There are those who believe that only paleo-conservatives such as patrick buchanan or libertarians like justin raimondo can counter the political power of the neocons. Whilst there is much to admire in their anti-war polemics they have a marginal political impact on the power of the neocons. The only way of exposing, and deposing, the jewish neocons is if the right and left form a mutual alliance. The basis of such a collaboration is to keep the focus on the jewish neocon establishment which rules america in the interests of the jews-only state in palestine.
Anti-War Protests need an Anti War Party
It is not possible to fight zionism within the democratic party in america, or the labour party in britain, because zionist domination is so overwhelming. “The antiwar movement is limping along, and the Democratic Party is desperate to be seen as a “loyal” opposition. Many of its leaders call not for an end to the war, but a war fought with more troops, with greater efficiency.” (Alexander Cockburn ‘The Plame Affair and the Function of Scandals’ http://www.counterpunch.org/cockburn07302005.html). If the non-neocon left want america and britain out of iraq (and to stay out of syria and iran) then the best way to bring this about is to leave the democratic and labour parties. The anti-war issue is never going to rise to the top of the political agenda until those who oppose the war join an anti-war party.
It has been stated that, “Bush administration neocons such as Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Libby, along with their cheerleaders at Fox “News”, the Weekly Standard, Wall Street Journal editorial page, National Review, and the New York Times’ Judith Miller will go down in history as the architects and enablers of the greatest strategic blunder in American history. The neocon dream of conquering the Middle East for Israel and destroying Islam as a force is now in history’s trash heap of failed adventures along with such miscalculations as Hitler’s march into Russia and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.” (Paul Craig Roberts ‘Leave Now’ http://www.counterpunch.org/roberts07282005.html). But until left and right unite to sideline the jewish establishment controlling america, the neocons will continue to push the world towards world war three.
In the 1980s, the neocons infiltrated the republican party until now they control it. Since 9/11 and the invasion of iraq, left wing jews have surrendered to their neocon likudnik allies. What this means is that the political priority of both the left and the right should be to challenge the zionist occupied governments of america, britain, and palestine, and the zionist occupied parties which sustain these governments. “Regardless of the particular causes or principles that most move us, that are closest to our hearts, no issue is of greater urgency than breaking the Jewish-Zionist grip on American political, social and cultural life. As long as this power remains entrenched, there will be no end to the systematic Jewish distortion of history and current affairs, the Jewish-Zionist domination of the US political system, Zionist oppression of Palestinians, the bloody conflict between Jews and non-Jews in the Middle East, and the Israeli threat to peace.” (Mark Weber ‘The Challenge of Jewish-Zionist Power in an Era of Global Struggle’ http://www.ihr.org/other/thechallenge.html). Unfortunately this sort of alliance seems unlikely given that the traditional left and right seem to prefer to attack each other rather than their zionist masters. The traditional left-right political spectrum has been dead for ages and yet such irrelevance doesn’t seem to stop those on the left and the right from indulging in their politically conventional, slapstick routine.

Atheo, your detailed, thoughtful comment was appreciated. I agree that the zionists are playing a major role but that doesn’t diminish the major supporting roles of the corporations, the church, and some right-wing loonies who believe that America was born to rule. They all want a cut of the booty.

Ah, Dylan’s neo-con right-wing “I-support-America-no-matter-what-and-will-defend-it-to-the-death-wrong-or-right” voice is always so refreshing, in the midst of so many bluntly honest posts that paint a more accurate – yet not-so-pretty – picture of America.
I wholeheartedly agree with David G’s suggestions, especially the boycotting of Corporate products. This would be quite a monumental task, however, in this, the ultimate Capitalist-materialist-obsessed society on earth. Devote, say, one entire month as “Take Back America From the Corporations Month,” or something, and get as many people on board to buy only basic living necessities for that entire month. No DVD’s, no CD’s, no fluff or crap – just groceries, toilet paper, etc. Then go from there. His point is on-the-nose: in a society based around money and profit, as the US is, this would hit them where it would be felt the most.
Excellent suggestions. Let’s hear some others.
