Well, the year drags on but every now and again we get a shot of excitement. According to Reuters today, Hillary Clinton, aspirant for the Presidency of the United States, has intimated clearly that if she is President and Iran makes a wrong move regarding Israel the U.S. will ‘obliterate’ Iran. Obviously by obliterate she means nuclear weapons (the Bush Administration, ironically, frequently uses similar threats). Fair takes your breath away, doesn’t it?
Now while America is trying to stop the spread of nuclear weapons because of the danger they pose (to itself), it’s not above using a bit of sword-talk along the lines of, ‘Don’t you acquire any nukes and, if you try to, we’ll nuke you.’ There seems to be more than a little touch of hypocrisy in that position. As a matter of fact, a whole lot of hypocrisy! But that’s not what is troubling me. It’s the fact that a female contender for the world’s most powerful job is signaling before she even knows if she’ll be the Democratic candidate that she, like Bush, is into obliteration.
Of course, being female, I realize that she has to try to show she has balls, that she can do what any man could if it comes to the crunch. In this instance, the ‘crunch’ is rather dubious. She would not be responding to an attack on the American homeland but responding to an attack against Israel, the militaristic rogue state that terrorises many nations in the Middle East and which is, like the U.S., heavily into invasion and occupation.
Apparently Hillary, like many ‘Christian’ Americans is very pro-Israel (of course, Israel is part of America’s own strategic machinations and hegemonic ambitions). But why is she pro-nuclear warfare? Surely only a madwoman would threaten to obliterate a whole country and all its people: men, women and children.
Can you imagine the amount of radioactivity that would be released into the atmosphere should such an attack take place, the danger that would pose for many countries in the world? Can you imagine the wasteland that would result where one of the world’s oldest civilization once stood? Can you imagine how other Arab countries would react, how Muslim nations across the world would react? The ramifications would be catastrophic and would most likely lead to WW3 and the end of our world.
Hillary Clinton has just shown why she should never be elected President. More importantly, Hillary Clinton has just demonstrated why the office of the American President should be obliterated. To give one person with a nuclear arsenal so much power is inviting catastrophe.
It’s time the nations of the world realized the danger that America currently poses to the world and united together to block its imperial ambitions and increasing militarism.
I was stunned when i heard her say this. My first thought was that it would give Israel a green light to stoke it up with Iran and either draw an attack or attack first and wait for the retaliation.
It really is chilling that she even thinks in terms of obliterating another country.

As an aside, I watched her victory speech from the last round of voting in the race for POTUS. What a shallow human being this women is,anyone thinking there will be a change in Washington if she gets the nod,is indeed having a lend of themselves.
She is as phoney as a forty cent note,and her speeches are enough to make me vomit up my lunch.A class act indeed.
Added to the spectacle of her husband hovering around like a stale night out on the turps fart, is indeed a joy to watch.
The real movers and shakers in Washington, would have gone catatonic if Obama would have pulled off Pennsylvania in the race for the job? They must be working overtime transferring cash into her war chest as we speak.Nothing will be allowed to get in the way of the system they all feed off.
Democraps/Repuglycons, they are all tarred with the same brush,However I really do think Obama has them worried,this well may be a possible start to the change the planet needs to survive.Interesting months ahead.

Dave and Phill, indeed we are witnessing the beginning of the Dark Ages again. America is corrupt beyond salvation and, unless the rest of the world stops it, will eventually lead us to extinction.

P.S. I feel sorry for those decent Americans who can see what is happening, are shamed by it, but are powerless to stop the rot. But then, again, they say that people get the government they deserve!

Again you are correct David, the people do indeed get the government they deserve.As much as I hated John Howard,and was not shocked one jot by any action he took,I did not hate him as much as the morons that voted for him.
The fact that career politicians like A. Downer,T. Abbott and others of their ilk got re-elected, is of no surprise.That there are still thousands of people out there that think like these wonderful human beings, is the real tragedy.
Although K. Rudd is there at this moment in our history,and in my opinion if he keeps doing the right thing, will be there hopefully till I get deep sixed at least ,is a blessing.But I am under no illusion,approx half the population would see Iran bombed back to the stone age,and would give George Bush,Tony Blair, and the other mentioned doofus the Nobel peace prize.
And at the end of the day,it will not be thinking caring people that will sink Rudd,a little offer of a plasma T.V. or other trinkets and baubles to the chattering class,and voila it’s P.M. Turnbull.
And in the U.S. it is much the same,they may not admit it,but under that different accent of language, we are all same.And this is reflected in our choice of politicians.

What strikes me is that being a female,she is so bloody male.Compare her with Gillard and you get Gillard,tough but not the male aggression. Whatever it takes I guess.
