Has Mother Nature Made A Terrible Mistake?

"Roman ruins in Ephesus, Turkey."
Most people tend to live in the present and frequently think about the future. This may be a dangerous thing.
If we look backwards, way backwards, and examine the history of the human race even cursorily we get a perspective on where we’ve been. This may give us an indication of where we’re going, assuming of course we’re going anywhere. The current state of the world is not so good, not when there is the imminent possibility of nuclear war and/or the ravages of global warming. But has it been any better in the past?
The history of man has been erratic and has encompassed many terrible atrocities and fine achievements. It has not developed in a smooth progression but moved in spurts and regressions which vacillate between Golden Ages such as found in the Greek Civilization and during the Renaissance and Dark Ages when primitiveness, ignorance and brutality reigned.
It is not the purpose of this post to document the whole of human history because most people have some knowledge of the main events which surrounded the rise and fall of various civilizations during the last six to ten thousand years. Empires have come, empires have gone. Their ruins are scattered across the world for everyone to see as the photograph clearly shows.
The main conclusion that can be reached from looking at history is that our current world suffers from many of the same ills that have beset every civilization, the ones that have eventually brought every civilization down. Though it may appear to be stating the bleedin’ obvious, I would suggest that the major contributing factor to the demise of every civilization is man himself. The flaws in human nature have brought man up to and over the precipice every-time.
Civilizations begin, flourish, consolidate then fall apart and are replaced by another and the cycle is repeated. It’s as if what occurs to each human being during his or her life-cycle is eventually reproduced in each society. However, we are now at the stage where a nuclear war could completely render our world uninhabitable. And the possible effects of global warming are unknown but potentially very destructive.
If man is a creature doomed to self-destruct and every civilization that he has created has self-destructed, how can the cycle be stopped? I suggest that the only possible solution is to change or modify the unfortunate, negative aspects of human nature. In other words, we must correct the errors that Mother Nature made when creating mankind, her most dangerous creation.
This must be done quickly before we destroy ourselves and the world.

Greetings and Salutations!
Recently, I questioned if most adults are really just large children all pretending that they are grown up, all playing a game in order to avoid reality ….
Until we are allowed to grow and amture emotionally as a society, as communities, as countries, as a race of beings….we are doomed.
We have gone so far in such a very long time…..
Peace and Blessings

Sadly, I agree, David. Bush and the Neocons wanted to establish the “New Rome” and control the world. Pax Americana. Now that our country is $trillions in debt, our economy is failing, and the country is going down the tubes, we are offered bread and circuses – sound familiar? Bush is offering a $$ rebate to taxpayers (bread), Hollywood and Cable channels offer us circuses. We even have roman arena bloodbath in the form of extreme “sports” where young men beat each other half to death. The American Empire is faltering. May our descendents receive some sort of mercy.

Hey, Lil, great to have you call by. I was thinking adults are largely small children!
Worried, I’ve watched those extreme sports like Ultimate Fighter. We are not far removed from savage animals, are we? Come to think of it, we ARE savage animals (yourself excluded of course).
Cheers and peace to you both!
